LEMMENJOKI NATIONAL PARK DAY
Come with us to Lemmenjoki region to learn about the local culture and experience beautiful nature. This tour takes you to the beautiful Lemmenjoki region. Driving time to Lemmenjoki takes about 1hr from hotel. During the day you will experience Ravadas falls by boat, enjoy lunch by the fire, learn about the reindeers and Sámi culture.

You will also meet the reindeers, hear some Sámi traditional yoiking and make a visit to Art Studio Huopapirtti. If you want to experience as much as possible on one day, we recommend you to book this tour on your visit to Inari.

AURORA CAMP
Admire the Northern Lights while you are comfortably seated in a sleigh pulled by the snowmobile. We will head to the Aurora hunting on the amazing Lake Inari. You can enjoy the northern sky all the way to the campsite. The atmosphere by the campfire is an experience in itself.

HUSKY SAFARI & FARM VISIT
Husky Safari will take you through lakes and forests and it is a ‘must do’ experience when visiting Lapland. You will be taught how to handle the sled before you head out for the husky safari, where the huskies will pull your sled through the beautiful winter scenery.

Enjoy the excitement of the dogs before the start, and the serene silence once they get to do what they love – run in the snowy scenery. All husky safaris run so that one guest is mushing and the other one is sitting in the sleigh. Rates are based on two people sharing sled unless otherwise stated. Positions will be changed halfway.

ICE FISHING TRIP
Ice fishing done in traditional Finnish way; does it get any better? Spend the day outdoors and learn how the fishing during winter is done. You will learn interesting facts about the life up in the North.

REINDEER FARM VISIT
What does a reindeer eat in the fells in wintertime? What does a reindeer’s muzzle feel like? How does a reindeer survive outside in -45 degrees centigrade? It is time to find out! Today you will meet a local reindeer herder and his reindeer.

That visit is one of the top memories for our visitors. At the reindeer farm you will learn interesting information about the reindeer and the life of a reindeer herder and Sámi culture. This guided trip will be made by car.

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
In the old times, cross country skiing used to be the most common method of transportation, and all Finns have this skill in their blood. There is no more silent method to go through frozen and snowy sceneries than cross country skis.

Guide will teach you how to use the skis, and once everyone has the hang of it, we will have a nice loop in the surrounding nature. We will be skiing with no hurry, stopping to take pictures and enjoy warm drinks on the way.

SNOWMOBILE SAFARI

There are a couple of stops for taking amazing photos and chatting with your guide about life in Lapland. IMPORTANT: All drivers without exception must have a valid full drivers license and be aged 18 or more.

NIGHTTIME SNOWMOBILE SAFARI
Driving a snowmobile we can go anywhere! Your guide will lead you through the snowy forests to the high terrain to spot the Northern Lights far away from any artificial lights. It’s really exciting to drive at night.

You might even see some white rabbits or reindeer in your headlights. To drive, the participant must be 18 years old or more, and have a full drivers license. Minors aged 15 and up may sit on the snowmobile but under no circumstances will be allowed to drive.

HORSE SLEIGH RIDE
Friendly and beautiful Finnhorse arrives to pick you up from the Aurora Village reception. This blonde haired strong working horse will take you and a calm and relaxing tour through the snowy forests around Aurora Village.

REINDEER SLEIGH RIDE
Meet your guide at the Aurora Village reception who will take you on a short walk to the Reindeer park. Your reindeer sleigh is awaiting and will take you on a peaceful winter adventure in a traditional ‘raito’ form where the reindeer walk one after another each pulling a sleigh. Sit back and enjoy the 800m sleigh ride through the snowy forest.

NORTHERN LIGHTS CHASING BY CAR
After some research on the weather forecast we take a car and drive it to places where the sky is most clear and the probability of seeing the Northern Lights is highest. Your experienced guide, a professional Aurora Hunter has some interesting stories to tell. A hot drink and snack is included. You can get access to the photographs taken during the trip.

SIIDA MUSEUM & LAPLAND NATURE CENTER 
We will drive you along beautiful landscapes formed by several small lakes and the great Lake Inari. Your guide will tell you stories about Lapland as you approach the Lapp museum Siida where you’ll see a DVD of the Northern Lights. We will take a tour of the museum.

The guide will walk with you and will be there for you in case of questions. You can have also your own time in the museum of many international awards. The museum displays the original way of living of Sámi people and the Lappish wilderness with its eight seasons of the year. This is an exciting day to see and hear about the Lappish way of living.

BOAT TRIP ON LAKE INARI
Lake Inari is known for its clear waters and many sacred sites for the local Sámi community. Since the size and importance for the local Sámi the lake has nickname Sámi Sea.

Boat trip is heading to one of the many islands of Lake Inari, Jääsaari. Where you can enjoy snack by the fire. If you are brave enough, you can have dip on the Lake so take your swimsuit with you!

HIKING TO OTSAMO FELL
On top of the fell you can find Otsamo day hut, that used to serve as fire warden’s accommodation with its lookout towers.The scenery down towards the village and open lake is amazing! From top of Otsamo fell the scenery opens up towards Lake Inari, Hammastunturi, Muotka and Lemmenjoki fell areas.

Our path follows along the roaring Juutua River in an ancient pine-tree forest for the first five kilometers and then starts ascending towards the fell top. Before reaching the top all pine trees and even the tiny mountain birch trees vanish as we eventually find the bare treeless top of the fell.

FATBIKE & PACKRAFT
On this tour you will have plenty of time to enjoy our beautiful nature on the land and on the water! The tour starts at our hotel where we pack our lunch and packrafts. We ride small roads to a large Wilderness lake where our guide will give you the safety instructions for the paddling while you wait your packraft to fill up with air. Star Arctic Hotel is located on the top of the Kaunispää “Beautiful Peak” in Saariselkä near Ivalo, 270 km north of the Arctic Circle in Lapland, Finland. Saariselkä’s Ski Centre as well as a as well as a newly-built 1.8 km long toboggan run are just a minute’s walking distance from the hotel.

There is an excellent transportation network in the area, despite laying in the heart of the Arctic. The European highway number 75 runs through the area, along the road to the Arctic Sea.

Lapland basics
Lapland is the largest and Northern most region of Finland and home to approximately 3.4% of Finland’s entire population. It is by far the least densely populated area in the country with untouched nature.

The most common languages spoken in Lapland are Finnish, Sami and Swedish. The Sami people are the only aboriginals of Scandinavia and around 6000 of them reside in Finland’s Lapland.

The main source of income and transportation for the Sami people originates from reindeer husbandry which has become a popular tourist activity along the years.

Pyhä Igloos is a special accommodation right next to Pyhätunturi and is an alternative to traditional hotel accommodation. Our tastefully decorated igloo rooms have everything you need for a successful holiday.

Spacious and well-equipped rooms
Our igloos are 32m² in size and can accommodate two to four persons. The motorized double bed under the big glass ceiling accommodates two persons.

The sauna can comfortably accommodate only four people at a time, but our experience space allows sauna reservations for larger groups because part of the group can stay by the fireplace for waiting for their sauna shift.

The cosy Kota (Arctic Barbecue Hut) of Pyhä Igloos makes the perfect venue for a special moment by the bonfire – an ancient fascination. It is located right next to igloos yet it stands on its own, as a separate component to the Pyhä Igloos experience.

The hut accommodates up to eight people on its benches covered with reindeer skins as the local tradition has it. It also makes an excellent stepping stone for the Aurora Borealis hunters, since it has large glass windows in the ceiling.

The Arctic Barbecue Hut is available for Pyhä Igloos guests on complementary bases, anyone and everyone is welcome. However, should one wish to keep it private, dedicated to one’s family, friends, or the special someone exclusively for a two-hour session.

Pyhä Igloos Arctic Barbecue Hut also calls for the wilderness chefs out there! Ice Climbing Day in Korouoma Canyon – from Pyhä-Luosto
Unforgettable day trip to the Korouoma Canyon & Nature Reserve in Posio, where the mightiest ice falls in Finland are located. Korouoma is a millions of years old fracture valley in the bedrock. At the center of the valley, it forms a magnificent gorge that drops over a 100 meters below its surrounding terrain.

Every winter, 10-20 ice falls are formed, the largest 60-70 meters tall. The mightiest and best known is Ruskea virta (’Brown Stream’). Other classics are Mammutti (’Mammoth’) and Jaska Jokunen (’Charlie Brown’).

The ice climbing potential of Korouoma was discovered only in the 1980’s. Nowadays Korouma is hands-down the best destination for ice climbing in Finland!

Bliss guide will meet the clients in the morning at the agreed place in Pyhä-Luosto , and has prepared and packed all the relevant gear. It is roughly a 2,5 h drive from Pyhä-Luosto to Korouoma, Posio. From the parking area it takes 1-1,5 hours to hike through the beautiful taiga forest to the foot of the ice fall.

Once at the ice fall, the guide will prepare the rope line(s) for safe ice climbing. The clients use this break for having an energising snack, keeping themselves warm and taking photos and videos of the beautiful venue if they wish.

Once climbing preparations are completed, it is time for the true ice climbing experience in the Arctic! Depending on clients’ stamina and daylight hours, every client will get two proper climbs on the nature-made ice wall. Height of the ice wall varies from 20 to 60 meters.

On the way back to parking area – time schedule allowing – it is possible to stop by a bonfire and have another energising snack. The day get’s completed by 1,5 hour drive back to Pyhä-Luosto.

Electric Fatbike Tour to the Amethyst Mine in Luosto Lapland
Exciting and unique activity in Lapland. Ride to the top of the Lampivaara fell and dig for your very own lucky Lappish gem!

Amethyst Mine Tour is available every day except Sunday from June to September (Tue-Sat in October). There are two guided fatbike tours per day and during the visit you will hear the stories of geology and history in addition to the properties of the gems and the uses of amethyst.

You will ride to the Amethyst mine with a powerful, electrically assisted fatbike. Bliss’ guide will take you to the top of Lampivaara fell (small mountain) where you can enjoy the very top view of the area, over the Pyhä-Luosto National Park.

Then you will be seated in wooden shelter, shipping warm berry beverages and listening the facts and fictions of this fascinating purple gem stone.

After the story moment you will be heading to the digging area. Each visitor will be able to dig for their own personal lucky amethyst. In the end of the visit there is some time to drop by a small “Amethyst Shop” on site. The amethyst of the area is refined into jewellery and other productions.

Aurora Camp on the Border (4h)

Take a seat on the bus and enjoy the nocturnal landscape of Lapland. We drive through the silent village of Ivalo and the tiny Nellim, on the winding road toward the slumbering border of our enormous neighbour Russia.

From the border, we drive to our Aurora camp, in Virtaniemi. We will make a fire in our Lappish teepee and wait for the Northern Lights to flare up.

We may also head towards the Paatsjoki river bridge, where the river flowing freely and rapidly towards Russia, reflecting the red and green flames of the Northern Lights covering the skies, and the snow-covered trees is a sight to be seen. An experience you will remember for the rest of your life.

Aurora Hunting by Snowmobile (3h)

Take a snowmobile through the nocturnal snow-covered forest, far away from the residential areas and their light pollution, up the slopes of the silent snowy fells.

Up in the fell, we warm up by the fire under the starry sky and wait with an evening snack and hot drinks. Are you the one who sees the first flare of the Northern Lights? Compose your photos to include the Northern Lights, the snow-covered conifers, and the fells or just let the unforgettable sights enchant you.

Our snowmobiles are new, extremely easy to use, and safe. If you wish, you can also hop into the sleigh towed by the guide and focus on enjoying the experience with all of your senses.

Snowmobile & Ice Fishing (4h)

Drill a hole through the thick ice, bait the hook, and see if you can catch a perch or a whitefish from the secluded, ice-covered wilderness lake.

The snowmobile safari takes you through the remote, uninhabited forests and over the windy fells, past the breathtakingly beautiful scenery, until we reach the small wilderness lake.

At the lake, we will try our luck at fishing and build a fire to enjoy a delicious meal. Along the way, we stop to take photos of the most beautiful sights of our trip. All snowmobile safaris include an introduction to safe handling and riding as well as an experienced guide.

Husky Safari (20km)

Driving a team of huskies over the white, shimmering fells is an experience that is almost mandatory during a trip to Lapland. The eager dogs run at full speed and the sled glides effortlessly over the snowdrifts with the skids hissing softly.

The lead dog turns to look at you at a crossroads – right of left? Mush! The husky safari starts in front of an Aurora hut and takes you on a fast-paced trip over the untouched snow of the forests of Levi.

This is an experience that you will never forget! Note: We have two-people sleighs. Each sleigh is ridden by one of the guests.

Searching for Santa (3h)

Searching for Santa is a set of playful, unforgettable Christmas experiences for the young and the young at heart, set in Northern Lights Village. Santa’s little helper Elf will meet you and other participating families and be your guide for the day. The day starts with gingerbread baking at the elves’ turf house kitchen.

After the cookie moment, the Elf will take you to meet Santa’s flying reindeer. Unfortunately, the reindeer only fly on Christmas night, but you get to take a (short) ride on the reindeer-drawn sleigh through the snowy forest instead.

Then, it is time to go searching for Santa’s secret cabin. The Snowmobile-Elf will take your family on a heated sleigh ride into the forest. If you can find the cabin, Santa will most likely welcome your family in for a private chat and offer a symbolical gift.

Day Trip to Nellim (6h)

“The atmosphere in the Holy Trinity church is an inimitable combination of the log cabins of Lapland, the ornate luxury of eastern churches, the closeness of nature, and silent sanctity.”

Explore the meeting point of the eastern, western, and northern cultures in the tiny village of Nellim, next to the enormity of Russia, in the heart of the land of Sámi.

The bus will take you comfortably to the northernmost border crossing between Finland and Russia. We will spend a moment at the border station and continue to the Paatsjoki River Bridge that crosses over the unfrozen river and provides a view directly into Russia.

We will also explore the Holy Trinity church at Nellim, where the log walls and the beautiful icons transform the shrine into a unique work of art, exhibiting the centuries-old Orthodox history of the Skolt Sámi people.

Snowhotel
Sleep on a transparent bed made from snow and ice
Our SnowHotel sleeps 70 guests and is one of the largest in the Nordic region. This spectacularly handsome building is carved each year to be different in appearance. The walls and furniture surfaces of the unique rooms are decorated with ice art and illuminated artwork.

The room temperature is 0–5C°, but using the sleeping bags intended for extreme conditions combined with reindeer furs, you can be sure you will stay in warmth and comfort.

On the shores of the lake the moonlight, stars and Northern Lights illuminate the silent, Lappish nature. As our guest you will have a good night’s sleep as the Aurora Alarm searches the skies for you.

Arctic SnowHotel
The first SnowHotel was opened in December 2008 and after that new one has been built every year. Inside Arctic SnowHotel you can find approximately 30 hotel rooms, Ice chapel, Ice Restaurant and Ice Bar.

The temperature is between 0C and -5C degrees at all times (even when it is much colder outside!). The hotel area can be visited by paying an entrance ticket to the reception and overnight guests (both in glass igloos and SnowHotel) are permitted to visit all these areas inside Arctic SnowHotel.

Rooms
There are rooms of many different sizes available in SnowHotel of Arctic Snow Hotel & Glass Igloss. We have standard rooms in double, triple and family categories.

SnowHotel rooms have electric lighting. The beds have normal mattresses with reindeer hides on top of them but the bed frames are made of ice. Unfortunately it is not possible to arrange extra beds into the rooms. The sizes of the standard rooms vary between 9–15m².

In addition to standard rooms we also provide suite accommodation. The suites are primarily intended for two persons, but the hotel also has one suite for three persons. Every suite is uniquely different from the other.

The arctic atmosphere of the unique suites is perfected with magnificent artwork made from snow and ice that are unique for the room. The size of the suite is approximately 28m².

Be prepared for the cold
As the temperature inside is all the time between 0 and -5C degrees and the guests are sleeping in sleeping bags, only one night stay is recommended as you get the once-in-a-lifetime experience already after one night. Overnight is not recommended for children under 5 years old.

In SnowHotel you stay overnight in conditions close to freezing point. Therefore, we advise you to pack the following items with you:

• Warm hat
• Long-sleeved shirt
• Long trousers
• Wool socks

SnowHotel does not have separate toilets and showers in each room but there is a shared toilet close to the hotel rooms, inside SnowHotel.

Included in the accommodation price
Soon after your check-in, SnowHotel guide will give you a guided tour of the area during which you learn about safety aspects and where everything is located.

You will also receive instructions for sleeping overnight at SnowHotel and for the sleeping bag. The sleeping bags are of high quality and warm arctic sleeping bags with fleece linings.

If staying overnight in SnowHotel at some stage feels a little too extreme, SnowHotel also has a warm area where you can continue your night’s sleep.

When staying in at SnowHotel, breakfast is always included in the accommodation rate and is served at Log restaurant 8:00-10:00. If you leave before the breakfast starts, you can request for breakfast package which you can pick up from the reception before you leave.

It is possible to borrow snowshoes, toboggans and kick sledges free of charge.

Finnish sauna is included in the accommodation price in common use for women at 21:00-22:00 and for men at 22:00-23:00. If you wish to book sauna in private use and try maybe also snow sauna and/or outdoor jacuzzi, that will be for an additional price.

SnowHotel guide will wake you up with hot drink served in your room and after breakfast and checking out, you will receive a certificate of achievement celebrating your overnight stay in arctic conditions inside walls made of snow and ice.

Glass Igloos

The first 15 glass igloos were built next to Arctic SnowHotel in the village of Sinettä in Rovaniemi in 2014. After that the number of the igloos has increased during several building processes and at the moment the total capacity is 39 glass igloos with 127 beds.

The glass-roofed igloos provide you the opportunity to sleep beneath the starry skies and the Northern Lights. Even though we live this far north, we can never guarantee the appearance of the Northern Lights. However, sleeping under a 360º glass roof multiplies your chances of seeing the renowned Aurora Borealis.

Each igloo is extremely well heat insulated to ensure guests are not bothered by the cold in even the coldest of times at night – the temperature is the same as in normal hotel rooms.

The roof of the igloo is made from electrically heated glass, which means the glass will not cool the space; rather it maintains evenly distributed warmth while melting all the snow and ice off the roof to give you excellent view to the sky.

In addition, the igloo has underfloor heating.The beds in the igloo are motorized, which makes it possible for you to easily adjust the optimal position for sleeping or viewing the skies.

Restaurants & Bars
Food from the fire, dishes made from ice
Although SnowHotel is remotely located outside of town, you won’t have to compromise any treats or delicacies. We cater for large festive events and intimate dinner parties alike with the utmost professionalism.

Flavour and traditional food preparation methods are characteristic of the three restaurants and the three-course dinner menu. The exquisite style of the Ice Restaurant tableware set on an ice table and frozen glasses used in the Ice Bar are simply stunning. All the meat products that are served at our restaurants are produced in Finland.

Ice Restaurant
In the renowned Ice Restaurant of SnowHotel offers you tasty dinners whether you are just visiting the restaurant or a guest staying at the hotel. Ice Restaurant can also be hired for parties.

You can also purchase a hotel visit that includes transfers from your hotel and back, a guided tour of SnowHotel and dinner at Ice Restaurant. Our overnight guests can also enjoy their dinner in Ice Restaurant, bookings can be made in advance by email or at the reception upon arrival.

Ice Bar
At the Ice Bar you don’t order a drink with ice, you order a drink in ice. A frozen icy glass gives the drinks a totally new dimension and the experience is beyond compare.

The ice walls of the bar also have odd, yet magnificent audio qualities. We will definitely get your feet tapping, and you are sure to keep on smiling in the Ice Bar. The Ice Bar is open during SnowHotel opening hours and drinks are served on specific hours.

Kota Restaurant
Kota Restaurant is located on the hotel’s lake shore, next to the lakeside sauna and takes up to 100 diners. The blazing fire creates a magical ambiance in the small kota shelter. The speciality dish of Restaurant Kota is the mouth-watering glowfried salmon fillet.

Salmon doesn’t get tastier than this! You can also choose between meat or vegetarian dishes when enjoying dinner at Kota Restaurant. You can also purchase a hotel visit that includes transfers from your hotel and back, a guided tour of SnowHotel and dinner in Kota.

Log Restaurant Lumikartano
The reception area also has cafeteria, an atmosphere-rich lounge area with open fireplace and a small gift shop. The building made from massive logs is a magnificent sight in itself.

BREAKFAST
Hotel guests enjoy breakfast at Log restaurant. The hearty buffet breakfast offers a wide variety of flavours and different breakfast options. Breakfast is always included in the accommodation rate whether you are staying in SnowHotel or the glass igloos.

Sky Bar
Our newest addition to our restaurants is Sky bar which is located in the same building with Kota restaurant and was completed in 2018. On the ground floor you can find a lounge-type of bar that serves cocktails with a local twist along with other drinks and small snacks.

Sky bar opens up in the afternoon and closes later in the evening: groups can request for other times or can book this in private use. When it is dark and the sky is clear, we recommend to head to the second floor where you can hopefully see the northern lights through the glass roof!

The Snow Sauna will not leave you cold
Even the most enthusiastic sauna bathers are deeply impressed by the snow sauna! The sauna bathing experience is an astonishing combination of thick steam with intimate snow walls. The hotel grounds also have a more traditional log-built sauna buildings with lovely Jacuzzis.

All sauna bookings include a chance to try cold water dipping during sauna to maximize the blood flow and sauna’s health benefits. Bathing combined with a suitable beverage and the northern lights will keep you warm!

Finnish sauna
Finnish sauna building “Snowflake” is found on the hotel area and has several smaller saunas inside which cater individual customers staying in the hotel or igloos as well as visitors.

Bigger sauna “Snowfall” caters for groups and common sauna for overnight guests. The common sauna shifts for men and women are every evening at 21:00-23:00 and this is included in the accommodation price.

There are separate showers and dressing rooms for men and women. The hotel reserves the right to change the time for the public sauna shift if conditions require such.

For an additional fee you can reserve sauna bathing experience for your family for private use daily 10:00-23:30. Our guide is always available to help you to show you the way and makes sure that everything goes correctly.

During the winter months, combining the Finnish sauna with the snow sauna will make your experience much more varied and extremely refreshing as well as outdoor Jacuzzi with massaging jets is an experience beyond compare – we highly recommend this combination for all the guests.

The changing rooms and showers are located in Finnish sauna so if you wish to try snow sauna and/or outdoor jacuzzi, Finnish sauna is always booked for you as well.

Snow Sauna
The snow sauna is made from snow and ice. Only the sauna benches are made from wood. The thick steam of the stove keeps the temperature high, even though the snowy walls radiate cold.

You start your sauna experience by having shower and warming up in Finnish sauna for awhile after which our guide will show you how snow sauna works and gives instructions for it. After that you can go to either outdoor jacuzzi or back to Finnish sauna. Snow sauna is available from Dec 15th until Mar 31st.

Outdoor Jacuzzi
Enjoy the cool fresh air whole relaxing in the Jacuzzi! In the outdoor Jacuzzi you can admire the Northern Lights or the spectacular starry night skies of Lapland. Warm water and cool air is a magical combination!

Aurora Breaks in Arctic Snow Hotel & Glass Igloos
Autumn is the best time for effortless Aurora break in Lapland. From September to November, the Northern Lights occur more often than during snowy and cold Midwinter. The weather during the day is usually pleasantly mild, and nights are often clear with starry skies – ideal for aurora hunting.

We have two different Early Bird Aurora Break packages (1-night or 2 nights) available from September 22nd to November 19th. Both include transfers from Rovaniemi, 3 course dinner, and experiences for each day of your stay.

In our igloos with 360° glass roof you can fall asleep while watching the lights in the sky, after enjoying dinner in our restaurant and raising a toast at SkyBar. Of course you can also book just accommodation in our glass igloos.

Arctic Snow Hotel and Glass Igloos is located by a lake in the small village of Sinettä, 30 min drive from Rovaniemi in Lapland (Finland). In the absence of city lights you have a good chance to spot Northern Lights and take amazing pictures.

We can’t give a guarantee that you will see the Northern Lights during your stay, but when the conditions are right, chances are good.

VISIT TO SANTA CLAUS VILLAGE
Our guide will drive you to Santa Claus Village, the most popular attraction in Rovaniemi, where you can cross the magical Arctic Circle, meet Santa Claus and visit his official post office and do some souvenir shopping. The excursion includes lunch .

AURORA FLOATING
Dip yourself into frozen lake under the Auroras and let your mind rest, sounds bizarre doesn’t it! Tonight this is possible! This guided floating is totally safe with a high quality rescue suit that covers your whole body and keeps you dry.

As you have your own clothing under the suit you will not get cold even in the open 0 degree water. The circumstances are truly arctic! If the weather is clear we can see beautiful stars and may even get to marvel magnificent Northern Lights. This is arranged at our hotel area so no transfers are needed.

Guided tour at Arctic SnowHotel
Arctic SnowHotel is a venue that offers once-in-a-lifetime experience and the opportunity to explore ice and snow structures, spectacular ice sculptures, beautiful rooms of the hotel and arctic specialities, such as the snow sauna.

During your memorable visit, the guide will tell you about the construction, operation and special features of the SnowHotel. The visit includes a guided tour of SnowHotel, hot berry juice and biscuits.

At the end of the tour, there is a possibility to order a shot from the ice bar for an additional fee, served in a glass made from ice.

Party organisers
The hotel area spaces are easily adapted for hosting a variety of different events. The lakeside views of Lake Lehtojärvi offer breathtaking scenery in the winter time, making it an excellent backdrop for graduations, birthdays and other festive events.

We arrange the perfect space for your event, saunas and Jacuzzis, meals and programmes chosen by you. A fine quality dinner menu will all the courses is served with space, kitchen and party tableware catering for groups of up to 200 people.

In the winter you can supplement your festivities with once-in-a-lifetime experiences organised by the hotel – ensuring your guests will get a real Arctic experience to remember forever.

We provide space always based on the size of the group – we highly recommend Kota Restaurant situated on the banks of Lehtojärvi Lake as the most atmosphere-rich space for groups of up to 100 guests.

Winter weddings
Covered in a thick snowy blanket in the winter, the entire surroundings are outstanding as a venue for festivities such as weddings. We can definitely promise you a unique and out-of-the-ordinary wedding venue for the most important day of your lives.

Ice Chapel, Ice Restaurant and Kota restaurant provide a superb atmosphere to ensure the happy couple and their guest get the best possible memories to take home with them.

The Ice Chapel has a long aisle with seats for around 40 guests (there is more space for the guests to stand at the back of the chapel) to witness the happy moment.

The temperature at Ice Chapel is around -2 or -5ºC, so please remember to dress warmly for the ceremony! Our Ice Chapel offers the possibility for civil ceremonies. It is also possible to hire the Ice Chapel separately for the ceremony alone. Ceremonies can be arranged for renewing the vows as well.

After the ceremony, the wedding reception can be held at Log restaurant, Ice Restaurant or the intimate Kota Restaurant. One recommendation we have is toasting the newlyweds using ice glasses or by savouring a piping hot beverage served at the Ice Bar before the actual dinner.

Following the first congratulatory toast, the festivities continue with the newlywed couple in a space perfectly sized for the size of the group. If you would like to finish off the festivities with bathing in the saunas, snow saunas and outdoor javuzzi in your wedding festivities, we will make it happen.

We can help you with arranging paperwork, flowers, photographer and food that you wish to be served. We do everything to make sure your day will be successful in creating everlasting memories. Any wishes you have you can tell us, we will make it happen if it’s possible.

Groups
Arctic SnowHotel offers a wide range of different accommodation, activity and dinner opportunities for small and large groups alike.

You can take a day trip to experience the snow activities the hotel organises, or alternatively stay overnight and enjoy the saunas and outdoor jacuzzis late into the evening. You can explore the many Arctic SnowHotel sauna opportunities available here.

We also serve dinners to groups in the restaurants of the hotel area. For smaller groups we recommend the ambiance-rich Kota Restaurant that takes up to 100 diners. The grand dining hall of Log restaurant offers a number of dinner courses and the hall can take up to 200 dinner guests.

Here happens magic… Magical Pond is about nature and mindfulness, special moments with friends and family, it’s about unique experience.

Our igloos are located in Finnish Lapland, in just 8 km from famous Ruka Ski Resort. Magical Pond is a place to hear the silence, to enjoy pure nature and arctic night.

Our modern igloos are made in Scandinavian style, their unusual shape allows our guests to observe nature as close and comfortably as possible.  It is a perfect location to observe a blanket of stars with dancing Aurora Borealis on a clear-sky day.

Cozy and modern igloos will show you a beauty of our nature all year round: arctic nightless nights, “ruska” in autumn, trees all covered under the snow, as well as birds and animals, coming to greet you from our forests.

IGLOOS
Our village is a place for a magical moments you can share with people you love. There are 20 igloos in Magical Pond.

• Each room is 15m2. Big bed in our igloos allows to accommodate two adults and 1 child under 12 yo. In case you have big family it is possible to fit 2 adults and 2 children in one igloo.
• We can deliver a portable crib and a pot to your room, if you are traveling with an infant.
• Our igloos feature small kitchen equipped with kitchenware, capsule coffee machine, kettle and minibar. Microwave can be delivered on demand.
• There is a private bathroom with toilet, shower, hairdryer, shampoo and shower gel in each igloo.
• Magical Pond’s igloos also have a small wardrobe, curtains and reading lights by the bed.
• Each igloo faces forest and back side of other igloos, which allows you to have privacy during your stay.

Uniqueness of nature igloos
Inspired by Lappish nature, our igloos came off cozy and modern, made in Scandinavian style. Unusual shape lets you to feel nature as close as possible. Kanttia 2 architecture bureau has planned our igloos to blend with the forest. Each square meter is elaborately planned, so you can comfortably observe nature’s beauty.

OUR STORY
Magical Pond is a quality and atmospheric igloo village, that has been built on a land where Johanna, an owner, has spent her childhood. Her family has owned it since 1885. The idea of building igloo village was born on one magical night, in a forest, when the sky suddenly was lightened by Northern Lights.

To see Aurora Borealis is something empowering; something, that brings mindfulness. On that night we thought, that these moments are something each should experience at least ones in a lifetime.

Among daily rush and stress, we highly appreciate well-being and these moments with nature are something we value most. We want to create a place, where our guests can experience silence, admire pure nature and spend magical night in a cozy igloo.

We visit Northern Finland many times a year to experience inner peace for one more time. We hope, that you will experience this with us during your visit!

Next to igloo village there is Johanna’s sister’s established café Lammintupa Winter Village. They are offering wealthy experience for visitors to help them to get to know Lapland’s exotic animals and taste wild food, that is made of local raw materials.

Don’t be afraid to fall over, as the soft snow will help you land safely. We will be skiing over the frozen Lake Inari, admiring the beautiful scenery with no hurry, stopping to take pictures and enjoy warm drinks on the way.

Private Aurora Sledge safari

What a perfect way to search for the Northern Lights with your love one! This heated Aurora Sledge is designed for searching the Northern Lights while keeping you warm inside. During this private safari you’re driven around Lake Inari to find the best Aurora viewing points.

If the Northern Lights appear, the guide will stop driving and you can go outside to watch and photograph the show. If you are looking for something special on your holiday, this might be it! There is also the possibility to have a longer tour with dinner by the open fire.

Husky and Reindeer Day

Ride a husky sledge and meet reindeer -that is the way to enjoy the Lappish nature! To kick off the day, you will be transferred to the husky farm.

On the Husky farm, you will be taught how to handle the sled before heading out for a ride, the huskies pulling your sled through the beautiful winter scenery, passing through the frozen Lake Inari.

The dogs’ excitement is infectious and as the animals fall silent on the trail, you will realize that this is the only way to see Lapland. All husky safaris run so that one guest is mushing and the other one is sitting in the sleigh. Positions will be changed halfway.

During the day you will also meet reindeer. This will give you an insight to the way of life in the North. The reindeer welcomes you and you will be invited to the reindeer enclosure.

The guide will tell you more about the Sámi culture and the life of a reindeer. You will get the chance to feed the reindeer – the curious animals might even come up and eat out of your hand! During the day we will also enjoy a taste full lunch.

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing trip on frozen Lake Inari and its surroundings. On this trek, we will be exploring the varied terrains around Wilderness Hotel Nangu on foot: from the frozen surface of Lake Inari to the enchanting forest and hills rising from the shoreline.

We will trek through this winter wonderland enjoying the silence. During the trip, the guide will share interesting stories and information about Finnish nature and animals.

On the way, we will stop to enjoy lunch and warm drinks by the open fire. This trip is perfect for photographers and nature lovers, as snowshoeing is a true eco-activity!

Aurora Snowshoeing

Experience the surrounding nature and Aurora Borealis on foot. Snowshoeing on the frozen Lake Inari during the night is an adventure of its own.

We will wander on the lake and the surrounding wilderness, until finally reaching the camp spot, where we will sit back and enjoy warm drinks while gazing at the sky, waiting for the northern lights to show up.

Explore Snowmobiling

Experience snowmobiling through the beautiful Lappish scenery. Snowmobiling is the best way to truly explore the wilderness.

After a snowmobiling lesson and safety instructions, we will head off on a snowmobiling adventure that will take us over the wilderness, forests and frozen lakes and untouched wilderness surrounding it.

During the day, we will enjoy camp lunch by the open fire and warm drinks to keep us warm. Is there any better way to spend a winter day?

Aurora Camp

Discover the Northern Lights from the comfort of a sledge. This program takes you Aurora hunting on the amazing Lake Inari. You will be comfortably seated in a sledge that is pulled by the guide’s snowmobile.

This way you can enjoy the northern sky all the way to the camp place. While observing the night sky, we will enjoy the blazing campfire with hot drinks and each other’s company. The atmosphere by the campfire is an experience in itself.

Lake Inari is one of the best places in the world for aurora viewing, as our Aurora Camps are located far away from any artificial lights. With a bit of luck, we might get to enjoy this unique light phenomenon.

Gentle snowshoeing

Relaxing snowshoeing in snowy Nangu forests and lakes. If you prefer a nice gentle walk in a beautiful snowy surrounding, this is the tour for you.

We will equip you with snowshoes (and poles if preferred) and head for a nice little walk in the surroundings of the hotel. Along the way, our guide will share interesting stories and information about the Finnish nature.

Snowmobile Tryout

Experience snowmobiling safely. This tour is perfect for those who have never tried snowmobiling before. First you will get familiar with the snowmobile, have full safety instructions and a driving lesson. Once everyone feels comfortable with the machine, we will head out for a small journey in the nearby surroundings.

Aurora Snowmobiling

Hunting Northern Lights on a snowmobile? I’m in! On this snowmobiling tour, you will head to Lake Inari in search of northern lights, looking for the best spots to view the open night sky.

Driving distance depends on the weather conditions – if the sky looks promising, we will make more stops to admire the northern lights that will hopefully appear for us.

Ice Fishing Trip to Wilderness Lake

Try your hand at ice fishing on Wilderness Lake. Hop on a snowmobile sleigh and head out for a calming day trip full of ice fishing and magnificent sceneries. We will take you to the best spots for catching some fish, camp there and test our luck.

During the day, we will enjoy warm drinks and have lunch by the open fire – if we’re lucky, it will be fresh fish we caught ourselves! If you wish to take a day to relax like the locals do, this is the way to do it!

How do I get there?

Nangu is easy to reach whether you are arriving with air or land transportation. If you wish to use air transportation, we recommend to take a flight to Ivalo Airport. The flight between Helsinki and Ivalo is approximately 1,5 hours.

During Winter Season (December – March) airways such Finnair and Norwegian operate daily between Helsinki and Ivalo. Finnair operates weekly between Helsinki and Ivalo all year around.

Transfer from Ivalo Airport to Nangu takes approximately 30 minutes. We arrange transportation services between Ivalo Airport and Nangu. Airport transfers are included in all our readymade packages.

If you wish to use land transportation, we recommend to take a train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi and then a public bus from Rovaniemi to Ivalo.

The train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi takes about 12 hours and the bus from Rovaniemi to Ivalo about 4 hours. You can check the train schedules from www.vr.fi and the bus schedule from www.matkahuolto.fi.
