The Lani’s Suites Deluxe is located at 10 minutes from the airport of Lanzarote, in Puerto del Carmen, the most important touristic area, on the beach with several direct access from the hotel, only 25 minutes away from Timanfaya National Park and 15 minutes from the capital of the island, Arrecife.

The Lani’s Suites Deluxe hotel was designed and decorated by its owner, D. Kumar Dadlani standing out among other hotels by its careful design and the selection of materials that combine with the harmony between vegetation and waterfalls to create an unique environment of well-being by the ocean.

The building we now know as Lani’s Suites de Luxe was a project that helped the prestigious César Manrique who left his mark on the architecture of the original building. At the end of the 80s, when the Project was finished, was considered vanguardist due to its modern forms and unique architecture.

It remains open until the year 2005 due to its deterioration was closed and abandoned. Kumar Dadlani, business man in Lanzarote, propose the construction of a commercial center.

But due to the bureaucracy and slowness of time is discarded to make way for the end of 2014, due to the large number of retail outlets in the area , a new innovative and modern luxury accommodation facilities project.

Since opening in April 2015, Lani’s Suites de Luxe has established itself as a reference in luxury hospitality in the Canary Islands, it’s essential pillars are the quality of its service and the satisfaction of its guest.

THE BEST BEACHES IN MALLORCA

Located in the southeastern area of the island, approximately six kilometres from the village of Santanyí we come across Caló d’es Moro, a beautiful little cove with crystal clear water, which is the perfect choice for a quick swim.

Another option is Cala Llombards, a lovely cove with white sand which lies between cliffs and which boasts one of the most emblematic, natural monuments in Santanyí and the whole island, very close by, “Es Pontàs”.

In Palma, we suggest a visit to the Mercat de l’Olivar and the Mercat de Santa Catalina markets – both are bustling meeting points for residents and tourists alike and an experience you can’t miss.

At both markets you’ll find fresh island produce brought directly from the “Lonja” fish market in Palma, which is what we use at our restaurants to ensure maximum quality: “Cap Roig” (red scorpion), “Gallo de San Pedro” (John Dory), “Llampuga” (mahi-mahi)…..

In the municipalities of Santa Maria, Andratx and Sineu you can find their open-air market and organic products from the Mallorcan countryside such as fruit and vegetables. You can also buy authentic local products, including wine, food products – oil, cheese, olives – and hand-woven Mallorcan clothes or fabrics.

ART AND HISTORY IN PALMA
Culture lovers meet at Es Baluard – Palma’s Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art – located in the city centre and built inside a Renaissance wall. Inside, you can admire a collection of 20th and 21st century art and from its terraces you can enjoy spectacular views of the city and the bay.

Another monument we recommend and which forms part of the culture of the city of Palma is Bellver Castle, conceived as a royal residence and which, in 1717, became a military prison for numerous French soldiers and officers. Located in the middle of a forest, it is currently the City History Museum and offers wonderful views of the bay of Palma.

MALLORCAN CULTURE
Mallorca exudes art and there are many artists and craftsmen who have been inspired by the island.

We have prepared two options for discovering art on the island: The first is a historical tour of Santanyí followed by a visit to the studio of the Mallorcan painter Llorenç Garrit, who will explain the evolution of his art, while delighting the audience with a tasty organic wine and immersing them in his latest work eNclaveDecolor, inside his workshop.

Another proposed experience is to visit the Galería Major art gallery, which was founded in Pollença in 1990 and which promotes contemporary art, as well as national and international, well known and upcoming artists.

Amongst others, you’ll find pieces by José Manuel Broto, Susana Solano and Miguel Angel Campano, all holders of National Plastic Arts Prizes. With an annual program of about seven exhibitions, the gallery offers a platform for artists to present their most recent works of art.

This experience will immerse us in the history, culture and production of the distinctive Mallorcan olive oil.

We begin this oleoexperience at the Aubocassa to learn about the history of its Extra Virgin Olive Oils, where we will walk through the olive groves to discover the secrets of the manufacturing process in the oil mill, where the oil is made with the help of state-of-the-art technology.

The visit culminates at the select Aubocassa Olive Oil and Wine Bar, where the gold liquid produced by the property is tasted.

VISIT TO ES FANGAR WINE CELLAR
In order to get to know the Mallorcan wine-making scene, we suggest a visit to the cellar ‘Es Fangar’ in Felanitx. Considered one of the most modern in the world, it’s located in one of the most beautiful settings on the island and produces Mediterranean wine that stands out because of its quality, personality and elegance.

The quality of the grape and the biological treatment of the wines by the ‘Es Fangar’ cellar, that belongs to the Pla i Llevant Protected Designation of Origin, is what sets it apart and gives it such huge value.

For this experience, we propose two options:

• The first (about 3 hours long) includes a visit to the estate where you’ll discover the vineyards and how this project was created, but you’ll also take a tour of the cellar and do some wine-tasting with pairing.

The spa has an area of 100 m2, completely private and could be considered as an extension of the room, so here you can also enjoy in the privacy of the couple, a wonderful window that will leave you breathless:

In Navarre there are some of the best preserved forests in Europe, but they have a past with a human presence that show a culture and traditions that are closely linked to the land. They are places that only the locals get to, and you can stop in unique spots with superb views…

We’ll be stopping in some magical places and taking photos. In 1959, Luis Vallet and Jorge Oteiza as a tribute to Father Donostia designed a unit consisting of a chapel and a stele that were installed in the natural beauty spot on Mount Agiña, a place where there are numerous megalithic monu-ments.

Nature, art, architecture and history blend into a single unit. It is not to be missed. We will be surprised by the lovely traditional architecture in the town of Lesaka, which provides a clear example of Basque housing.

Finally we will visit San Juan Xar, a genuine shrine to popular beliefs. We offer you: the 4×4 vehicles will come right up to the hotel to pick you up and from that moment on, 4 to 5 hours of maximum enjoyment lie ahead of us.

We’ll stop several times, we’ll walk a bit and we’ll get to know the history, curiosities, ani-mal and vegetable species of the local area. Oh! And we’ll have lunch! Each 4×4 vehicle is for a maximum of 3-4 people, to make sure it is as comfortable as possible.

7-WATERFALLS ROUTE
The natural beauty all around us is impressive. It goes way beyond what the eye can see. To understand this is to understand the reasons for the culture, the customs
and habits, and the character of the people from round here.

Do you fancy going for a walk in the mountains along a route full of waterfalls? Put on some comfortable clothes, hiking boots and let’s go. In this area it rains a lot, so that both greenery and water will be accompanying us all along the way.

We offer you: a route that will take about 2 and half to 3 hours among mountains and trees. When we get to the last waterfall, we’ll have a bit of cider and cheese
alongside the water.

Supplies: long trousers, boots or suitable footwear for hiking (trekking), sun-cream, visor and rucksack, water. You can take other routes and walks, that may last from 40 minutes to 5 hours. Of course, it all depends on how used to this you are and on the degree of difficulty that you would like.

CAVING in small caves at ARANTZA
For the really adventurous! The earth seen from the inside, led by an experienced guide. It is incredible to think that there may be another world under our feet, where water has opened up huge galleries and formed fantastic limestone formations.

A place where total darkness still exists, and where we will be able to listen to almost prehistoric sounds. The activity lasts for 3 ½ hours, 2 of them in the cave. You need to wear clothes that can get dirty (quilted anoraks are not recommended) and comfortable clim-bing shoes.

There is a short 4-metre passage in a gallery and a 3-metre rope climb. Maximum group size: 8 people (not recommended for children under the age of 10).

Get to know a BASERRI (basque farmhouse) from the inside
Life in farmhouses is still the central focus of existence here. Did you know that traditionally the baserri (farmhouses) didn’t belong to the people here, but it was the
people who lived in them that belonged to the farmhouses?

We offer you the opportunity to visit one of these, so that you can see how cheese is made using traditional methods, animals, etc… Maybe with a bit of luck you can buy some fantastic beans and even some Patxaran from them!

DRIVE YOUR CAR THOUGH NOT VERY FAR
As you can see, we have a little of everything on offer. Our philosophy of exclusiveness and caring for details has led us to design exclusively activities and experiences for couples or groups (businesses, families, etc.)

As we are traveling away from the hotel a little on this occasion, transport might be available to these places (check at reception for options and prices)

Guided visits to Wineries, Patxaran and Beer
We suggest a series of visits to learn about and enjoy some wine, patxaran and beer tasting. If its harvesting and production season, you will get a chance to see the process. None of the above visits are further than a drive of 1 or 2 hours.

It’s a shame to travel that far and miss the history of the area, etc., so if you wish, we can complement the excursion with visits to other cultural and/or traditional sites.

History, Language and Mytholgy
Let’s keep learning about our culture a little more. It is full of mythology, witches and stories deeply rooted to the land and ancient beliefs. Its language,Basque, is one of the oldest in Europe. We will visit emblematic landmarks and learn about its ancient history and Pagan religion.

We suggest: Travelling to a nearby town where we will be received with a typical lunch from the area. While we are eating, we will be told about the history of these lands how and what the people lived off, how the society was organised, the arrival of the Inquisition…

After lunch, we will arrive at Zugarramurdi and visit the famous caves and, if you wish, the Witches Museum. We will be accompanied at all times by a local guide, a historian

Rent High-Powered Motorcycles
Those people, who love high-powered motorcycles that have stayed at the hotel, have loved the ride. Riding down a winding road on a motorcycle is sheer delight. However, people cannot always take their motorcycle with them on holiday or for a weekend. This gives you the opportunity to keep enjoying the ride.

sharing our culture with our visitors around a meal.

That is why we will meet up with our group of friends and visit a gastronomic society. It is a venue you are only allowed in if you are a relative or friend of a member. Very few visitors get the chance to enter a gastronomic society.

If you truly enjoy food and a good conversation, this is un-doubtedly your experience. We suggest: Meeting up in Hondarribia and boarding the vessel. This is a beautiful coastline, with green cliffs and steeped in history.

The Skipper is in charge of telling us all the anecdotes. We will sail into the beautiful port of Pasaia Donibane (Pasajes San Juan), meet up with our group of friends and then… off we go, let’s have a drink. Jose Taltavull and Xim Izquierdo danced “break dance” when they were 10 and 12 years old. After living abroad for a while, the artists met again on their native island to dress Calatrava with 87 black and white photographs.

“As Above So Below” is a tribute to their land, our land and, of course, to the sea. “The Sea seems to have no limits, neither above nor below the horizon. Only the Sky is bigger than the Sea”, explains Taltavull.

Jaume defines his work as “synthesized nature”, a research of abstract spaces and fragments of natural elements, seeking to minimize forms. The Mallorcan artist finds inspiration through the stones, rustic landscapes and the neutral color scale you find in Southern Mallorca, where he lives.

JORDI ALCARAZ
One of the leading artists in the national scene. Painter and sculptor. Jordi Alcaraz’s artistic language is defined by its visual provocation. Alcaraz’s most recurrent proposal is the questioning of the specific nature of painting in confrontation or in symbiosis with the very identity of sculpture.

Black and white and the interrelation of transparencies and holes prevail in his work. This beautiful sculpture awaits you on your arrival. Inspired by the branches of a kiwi fruit tree from a farm in Sant Cebrià de Vellalta, it shows Jordi Alcaraz’s free artistic language.

ESTEFANIA POMAR

SPRING
When the flowers bloom, the city of Jerez prepares for one of the most important events of the year: the Feria de Jerez. Flamenco, ruffles, fine wine and lots of art.

La Bodega – The wine cellar

Home to Akelarre’s exclusive wine collection, which features some of the most prestigious vintages. Hundreds of bottles from most of the world’s major grape-growing regions are stored at a steady 16 degrees temperature and displayed in a subdued lighting that sets the mood.

More than 700 references of all types and for all palates, from light, crisp whites to round, powerful reds, as well as celebratory sparkling wines and history-rich sherrys.

Akelarre also has a tasting room adjacent to the wine cellar, a welcoming space with a large table in the middle where our customers have the opportunity to learn from the award-winning sommeliers Juan Carlos Muro and Ciro Carro and feel their passion.

Espazio Oteiza – Designed for all Five Senses

Located in Monte Igueldo, Espazio Oteiza is a meeting place where you can enjoy delicious dishes, fine wines, snacks… and 1,400m2 of fantastic terraces, perfect for taking in unforgettable sunsets over the Cantabrian sea.

Jorge Oteiza, sculptor, family friend and a regular at AKELARRE Restaurant, once presented Pedro Subijana with a small sculpture with a hand-carved dedication.

One day, during a refurbishment, Pedro found a way to display the sculpture. As a sign of gratitude, Pedro asked Jorge’s permission to name the place after him, to which Jorge gladly agreed, and Espazio Oteiza was born.

On the first floor of the hotel, in an outstanding setting overlooking the sea, AKELARRE Spa is an adults-only space for body and mind relaxation. 800 m2 of spa and wellness that include three treatment cabins – one of them double-, sauna, steam room and a heated hydrotherapy pool with hydromassage jets, waterfalls for the back and a hot tub.

Txakoli, a wine with appellation of origin Basque Country

Txakoli is a wine with a designation of origin from the Basque Country that has been made in local farmhouses since ancient times. Since its first mention in 1520, txakoli has marinated the meals and gatherings of families and groups of friends to nowadays, where tradition is still a custom and “txikitos” continue to be raised in both homes and bars.

Txakoli has three appellations of origin, one per region. To know first-hand the history and know-how of this wine, nothing better than visiting one of its many wineries, strolling among its vineyards and enjoying a wine tasting accompanied by some pintxos.

The influence of the Belle Époque in San Sebastian

During your next visit to San Sebastian get immersed in the architecture from the Belle Époque that surrounds the city. Its history began by the end of the 19th century when Queen María Cristina, decided that San Sebastian was to be the royal summer home.

San Sebastian’s Beaches

However, the Playa de la Concha is just one example of our coast’s richness in nature and scenery. We are happy to present a selection of beautiful, not so well-known beaches to enjoy summer in the North.

Ondarreta
Ondarreta is a calm, family-friendly beach next to the legendary Peine del Viento sculpture by Chillida. It is defined by the stretch of beach between Monte Igueldo and the Palacio Miramar, offering a wide area of golden sand where one has plenty of room to play sports and games.

Zurriola
Also known as Gros Beach, after the name of the neighbourhood it belongs to, this beach is famous among surfers. It offers a long beach with rolling waves and fine sand, perfect for a day of sunbathing.

One can also rent water sports gear and have surf lessons adapted to all levels. At the nearby Monte Ulia, one can find the trailhead of a path that leads to fantastic views overlooking the entire beach and city.

Santa Clara
Santa Clara Island’s beach offers exceptional views of San Sebastián’s coastline and city. Boat services from the port take visitors to this tiny paradise, which offers a small, stunning cove and a natural pool formed by rocks and full of clear waters.

The Flysch Route, the geologic paradise of the Basque Country

Hidden between Zumaia and Mutriki, one can find a landscape of steep cliffs and layers of rock emerging from the Earth. The Flysch is one of the most important geological phenomenons in Spain due to its unique scenery provoked by an occurrence known as a wave-cut platform or coastal bench.

As a result, layers and layers of rock due to erosion are revealed, even more so at low-tide along the beach of Itzurun. This spectacle shows more than 60 years of geologic history, where each layer represents a different geologic era.

The Flysch has turned into the home of many different types of algae and seaweed, as well as molluscs, fish and crustaceans. This place has been recognized as a protected UNESCO site since 2015 and can be observed at low tide from a number of look-out points from nearby hiking trails.

Idiazabal Cheese Route

The Idiazabal Cheese Route, or GR 283, is a loop hike to get to know the Idiazabal cheese, which is very typical in the Basque Country. With an intense smell, this cheese has a slightly spicy taste, at the same time balanced and with character; its color ranging from ivory to beige yellow, in the case it’s smoked.

Some of the cheeses like the Artzai Gazta feature a distinctive “Basserikoa”, a classification that identifies this artisanal shepherd’s cheese, made with unpasteurized sheep cheese from the shepherd’s own flock.

Made up of 6 legs, this 95,7 kilometer long route intinces one to discover more about this product and the Basque culture.

The route runs across the Goierri, Urola Garaia an Deba Goiena valleys in Gipuzkoa, allowing for the discovery of the bakeries of Aizpea, the cottages of Jandoain, the reservoirs of Larea and the national parks of Aizkorri-Aratz and Aralar, among others.

This hike pays homage to this Basque product coming from sheep of the latxa breed, originating in the Basque country. A homage to a product so distinctive and unique that it has its own Certificate of Origin and Quality.

Three of the best surfing beaches in the Basque Country

The Basque Country is one of the most well-known places in Spain for both recreational and professional surfers around the world. A place that, since the 60s, has turned into a paradise for the lovers of this sport.

Zurriola Beach. Located in the Gros neighborhood of San Sebastian, this urban beach break has a strong, perfect left for the experts and various peaks along the beach for all levels.

Mundaka. This is an internationally famous break due to the fact that it boasts some of the best lefts in the world that can reach about 4 meters high and 400 meters long. It is, without doubt, the perfect beach for those experts looking for a long barrel.

Meñakoz Beach. Known for its picture-perfect waves, it is also known as one of the roughest breaks in the Basque Country, with waves up to 5-6 meters in height. It is only for the most experienced surfers.
