Ryokan Shiunso offer one of the largest guest rooms in Hakone. Our large guest rooms can accommodate a big family. We have two types of guest rooms, suite rooms, and standard rooms.

The spacious Japanese-style rooms invite customers to a healing space in a calm atmosphere. You can enjoy hot springs as much as you like during your stay in some of the suite rooms that comes with an open-air bath.

Kaiseki cuisine is prepared by the owner-chef using plenty of seasonal ingredients. The owner is very particular about his ingredients.

He selects carefully fresh fish, buys vegetables directly from the production area and his specialty is the handmade 100% buckwheat noodles that change every month. Bamboo vessels made from Moso bamboo cut out from the bamboo grove on the premises are also handmade by the owner.

Alkalescent simple hot spring that springs from the mountain in front of the hotel. The spring has a mild texture and great effect on your skin. This hot spring is said to be a lucky hot spring with female fertility in history.

Ryokan Shiunso offer a private open-air bath in the mountain in front of our hotel. We also have rooms with open-air baths with beautiful mountain and river views. Ryokan Shiunso is located on a site of 13,000 sq m, which lays from Tonosawa to Hakone Yumoto. The landmark is the famous rock “Shorizan.”

Please enjoy the forest bath with plenty of negative ions, the suspension bridge “Kakuobashi” and the small diameter of bamboo grove made on the vast Moso bamboo on the premises.

Six suite rooms
With a nice view of the Hayakawa River, forget daily loudness and enjoy your relaxing moments. Three of the suite rooms have a private open-air bath, you can have a relaxing time without any disturbance.

Our rooms are considered to be one of the largest rooms compared to other standard rooms in Hakone. They are large enough to accommodate a big family trip.

In the suite rooms with an open-air bath, you can have the Tonosawa Onsen all to yourself. Japanese traditional meals will be severed in your room. Your meals will be served in your room so you can spend your time without any loudness around.

Superior Suite with open-air bath WASABI
From the open-air bath made of Japanese cypress, you can overlook the stream of the Hayakawa River. The view of the mountain and the flow of the river is truly healing. Please spend a memorable and luxurious time in our suite room.

Superior Suite with open-air bath MIZUKI
The open-air bath is made of Shigaraki ware, and you can enjoy the fresh onsen which springs from the mountain in front of you.

River View Suite Danshaku
Overlooking the Hayakawa River, you can enjoy forest bathing. The guest room is a reproduction of the Japanese architecture of the Meiji era, which was created from the inspiration of Baron Okura’s room.

River View Suite Kobai
The room is reproduced as an old Japanese architecture from the Meiji era. The spacious rooms along the mountain stream overlooking Hayakawa are a reproduction of Japanese architecture from the Meiji era. You can spend a relaxing time with the negative ions that spring from the river.

Traditional Japanese cuisine with seasonal ingredients
Kaiseki meals will be served in your room made by the owner-chef. The owner himself goes to markets every day to buy the best ingredients on the day.
Breakfast comes with a wide variety of Japanese dishes. Our specialty is sea bream Ochazuke.

Dinner
Kaiseki cuisine prepared by the owner-chef using plenty of seasonal ingredients. We are particular about purchasing fresh fish carefully selected by the owner.

Vegetables are sent directly from the production area and handmade 100% buckwheat noodles change every month. Other than usual Kaiseki meals we also have a special bamboo kaiseki meal that uses Moso bamboo cut out from the bamboo grove on the premises.

For dinner, we serve 100% buckwheat noodles made from buckwheat flour from Sorachi, Hokkaido, which is freshly made every morning and does not contain any binder.

Every month, our chef changes the Soba noodles like natural yam noodles or ginseng noodles and more depending on the season. For customers who like it, we offer soba noodles at breakfast as a free service. Please tell one of our staff.

Kaiseki is a course-style Japanese cuisine. It is a method of eating that has been widely popular as a traditional Japanese ritual or banquet meal in the form of eating one item at a time according to the menu.

Breakfast
Our specialty the sea bream chazuke will be served at breakfast. We offer a Japanese-style breakfast. All the ingredients are carefully selected only from Japan we buy fish from the closest port, Odawara port so the fish are kept as fresh as possible.

Having fresh food in the morning is the best way to start your day. Breakfast on the terrace along the mountain stream can be arranged.

Room dining information
Enjoy a private space in an extraordinary environment with room meals and a private bath. In the suite room with an open-air bath, you can have Tonosawa Onsen all to yourself. Enjoy your private time with in-room meals and a private bath. Some of the suite rooms have a private bath in the room.

A natural hot spring where you can feel the four seasons.
Our onsen springs 70 tons of hot water a day. It is a weakly alkaline simple hot spring that springs from our premises. The spring quality has a smooth effect on the skin. Our onsen is also known to be a blessing hot spring for conceiving a child.

An open-air bath where you can enter while enjoying the sound of the river. We have an indoor and an outdoor bath each for men and women. An open-air bath with a view along the Hayakawa stream. The expression changes depending the seasons. Please enjoy deep nature of Hakone.

Private Indoor Bath “Danshaku no Yu”
Enjoy your private bath time with your family or friends. Baron Okura also enjoyed the cypress bath. As well as the bathtub, the walls are made of Japanese cypress. The scent of Japanese cypress can be healing for your body and mind.

Private Outdoor Bath “Kanzan-no-Yu”
Across the suspension bridge over Hayakawa River, you can have the private open-air bath with plenty of nature all to yourself.

Cold Sake in the hot spring

Entrance
An inn nestled on the site of the former villa of Baron Kihachiro Okura. The entrance is made out of a large rock called “Shorizan.” Shorizan is one big curved stone. It keeps the air nice and fresh.

The large rock at the entrance of Shiunso is a symbol of Tonosawa which always appear in Ukiyo-e in the Edo period. Kihachiro Okura is a Japanese businessman who started many companies in trade, construction, chemistry, iron making, textiles, food in the Meiji and Taisho eras.

River and Terrace
At Our River Terrace, you can relax while looking at the Hayakawa River in front of you. Please spend a refreshing time surrounded by clear air with plenty of negative ions.

Suspension Bridge “Kakuobashi”
You can enjoy a dynamic and beautiful landscape on the suspension bridge “Kakuobashi” over the Hayakawa River. Across the bridge, there is a small bamboo grove path where you can take a walk surrounded by the fragrant scent of bamboo.

Lobby
It is called “Kakui (Crane) no Yado Shiunso” after the issue of Baron Kihachiro Okura, also known as “Tsuruhiko(Crane) Okura”. The lobby welcomes guests with a crane-themed chandelier.

Large banquet hall “Soukaku”
We have large and small banquet halls according to the number of guests. All the nameplates of the rooms are handwritten by the calligrapher Sadahiro Kanzan, and the one in the banquet hall is especially large and valuable.

Café/Bar “Miyabi”
We offer a wide variety of drinks, soft drinks, and many sorts of alcohol, and we also have karaoke.

Private aroma treatment
Private aroma treatment is available in your room. It is an all-handed, gentle touch treatment focusing on lymph and acupoints.

In addition to relieving fatigue of the mind and body, the warm body after bathing in a hot spring promotes blood circulation with a light stimulus and enhances metabolism. How about the ultimate relaxation with the synergistic effect with natural hot springs?

By appointment only. Prior confirmation is required for two people at the same time. It is not possible to treat pregnant women and customers who are in a poor physical condition such as fever.

Information on soba making class
The owner will teach the guests how to make buckwheat noodles with 100% buckwheat flour. You can take the handmade soba as a souvenir. The potion is about for 5people.

Day trip in Hakone starting from Tonosawa
Tonosawa Onsen along the Hayakawa Mountain stream is one of the historic Hakone seven hot springs. In the deep mountain of Tonosawa, you can fully enjoy nature. Hakone is the famous hot spring resort visited by Hirobumi Ito and Soseki Natsume.

Owakudani
You can take the ropeway to the top of the mountain and see the fumarolic area and Mt. Fuji. Please enjoy the dynamic scenery while eating the famous “Kurotamako: Black Egg”, which is said to give you an extra lifespan of 7 years if you eat one.

Lake Ashi
This is a typical sightseeing spot that you should visit at least once when you come to Hakone. There are several activities such as a pleasure cruiser, the famous Hakone Shrine, the Nine-headed dragon Shrine/Kuzuryu Shrine, and many good restaurants along the lake.

Hakone-en Resort Complex Aquarium
It is a seawater aquarium located in the highest place in Japan. The charming Baikal seal underwater show is popular among children.

Hayakawa River
Hayakawa River originates from Lake Ashi in Hakone, flows eastward, and flows into Sagami Bay from the boundary between Minami-cho to Odawara City Hayakawa. You can enjoy beautiful scenery depending on the season.

Tonosawa Onsen
A hot spring village that represents Hakone, where the hotel is located. Since the opening of the hot spring, about 8,000 tons of hot water is still springing up every day. The colorless, transparent, tasteless, and odorless spring quality is preferred by many customers.

Fukazawa Zeniarai Benten Shirine
It is a power spot with an atmosphere full of natural energy right next to Tonosawa Station. It is believed that washing money with water in the precincts called “Benten Healing Water” has the “benefit of gaining more money”.

Rickshaw Umikazeya

Hakone lover guides will show you the highlights of Hakone with a rickshaw. Please visit them to commemorate your trip to Hakone. They’ll be waiting at Ajisai Bridge, which is a 2-minute walk from Hakone Yumoto Station. (Look for the red balustrade.)

Hakone Kyukaidou
Hakone Kyukaido/The Old Hakone Path was used in the Edo period, a road that crosses over the mountains of Hakone. It is known to be a hard path to go through as the mountains of Hakone are steep.

Experience the history and enjoy the spectacular scenery of nature on the cobblestone road that was constructed as a Shogunate road during the Edo period.

Hakone Ropeway
About 25-minute from Sounzan to Togendai Station via Owakudani. From the glass gondola, you can overlook Mt. Fuji and Sagami Bay.

Sounji Temple
Sounji Temple was built by Hojo Ujitsuna to honor his father’s death Hojo Souun in 1521 and has gone through ups and downs as the Hojo clan did.

Forest Adventure Hakone
Forest Adventure is a nature-friendly eco-park that originated in France. You can experience nature on a course that makes full use of the terrain and trees of the forest.

Amidaji Temple
A temple of the Jodo sect was built by Tanzai Shonin. You can feel more than 300 years long history in the temple. It is also known as the Hydrangea Temple, and during the season, the mountain paths of the main hall will be full of hydrangea with many different colors.

Odawara Castle
Inside the castle tower, which was reconstructed in 1960, ancient documents, armor, swords, etc. are exhibited. If you love Japanese history and castles you must see!

The Hakone Open-Air Museum
This museum is good for elders to little children. You can enjoy modern and contemporary works such as Rodin, Moore, and Milo as you walk through the big park. There are some arts that children can play with, and also a hot spring footbath is available inside the museum.

Pola Museum of Art
You can appreciate various collections such as glass crafts and makeup tools, centering on Impressionist works such as Monet and Renoir.
We also recommend taking a walk on the forested promenade. Maybe you can meet cute animals …?

Venetian Glass Museum
A museum specializing in Venetian glass, where you can appreciate beautiful Venetian glass from the 15th to 19th centuries to contemporary glass works. There is also a glass experience workshop.

Hakone Shrine
The shrine is known as the total guardian of the Kanto region. The torii gate facing Lake Ashi is known as the “Torii gate of peace,” and the stone steps on the main approach to the lake continue to the lake. The fireworks that set off at the lake festival are a masterpiece.

Hakone Sekisho
Hakone Sekisho was built in 1619. In 2007, it was completely restored after 140 years, making full use of the technology and materials of that time. You can feel as if you have traveled back in time to the Edo period.

Cherry blossoms in Odawara Castle Park
When the cold weather has eased and the spring sunshine feels good, the cherry blossoms at Odawara Castle will be in full bloom. Approximately 300 Yoshino cherry trees in full bloom will lighten your heart.

Fireflies
In early summer, fireflies are in full bloom along the mountain stream on our terrace. Around 21:00, when the meal ends, is the time when you can see the fireflies. How about a fantastic firefly light with a cold drink in your hand?

Autumn leaves
From mid-November to early December, it is the season when the autumn leaves are in full bloom along the mountain stream of the hotel.

Soga’s plum grove
In the cold winter, plum blossoms are in full bloom against the backdrop of Mt. Fuji and the mountains of Hakone. Many people visit the Soga Plum Festival every year, where about 35,000 plum trees are in full bloom. Please come in warm clothes.
