Kokomo Private Island fuses unscripted luxury with the bounty of space and the generosity of time to do as much (or as little) as your holiday heart desires.

Cradled by the Great Astrolabe Reef, our stunning unspoiled and naturally immaculate island is more than a backdrop, it’s your home for as long as you choose to linger.

Our reef provides a virtual portal into an unparalleled underwater world, while our land experiences offer a paradise for adventure seekers, a restorative sanctuary for families and an enticing retreat for honeymooners. Kokomo Private Island will absorb your idea of luxury – whatever that might look like for you.

Located just 45 minutes flight from Nadi International Airport or 25 minutes south of Suva, the transit between the mainland and Kokomo offers sweeping views of crystal clear water and powder fine stretches of sand. It’s a breathtaking starter of what’s to come.

Developed with an eye towards sustainable design practices and traditional Fijian nuances Kokomo Private Island’s aesthetic boasts a refined and fresh take on Pacific design.

Unique, innovative and yet authentic in its nod towards tradition and the natural landscape, there’s a general warmth felt right throughout the island; a natural ripple effect that stems from pioneering design, genuine craftsmanship and our Fijian Kokomo family.

Renowned Australian property developer Lang Walker AO has lived and breathed place making for over 50 years. Now, together with his family, Lang has brought to life his vision to create ‘an island paradise unlike any other’.

A venture straight from the hearts of the Walker family, Kokomo Private Island Fiji is a place with just as much emphasis on the natural beauty of the landscape as there is on the resort.

It’s a serenity filled space, famous for its affable and welcoming Fijian hospitality; and it’s somewhere to meet, to celebrate, to laugh, to relax, to enjoy seamless hospitality and to squeeze the last remaining minutes from each resplendent sunset – with those you love.

Direct flights to Nadi International Airport operate from Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and the USA (San Francisco and Los Angeles). Guests arriving and departing from Nadi will have access to the resort’s dedicated aviation hangar and luxury transfer lounge.

Designed to provide a seamless experience while transferring to and from Kokomo, take the opportunity to refresh, have a shower and some food and beverage, ahead of your 45-minute helicopter or seaplane transfer.

Experience panoramic views of the Fijian Islands, as you transfer to the resort in the comfort and style of our Twin Otter seaplane or Bell 407 helicopter.

To enable same-day transfers, please ensure that your arrival flight is scheduled to land prior to 3:00pm and that your departing flight is scheduled to depart after 10:00am.

The design right throughout Kokomo represents a true collaboration and a fusion of creative minds. Lang Walker AO worked closely with Head Architect for the island Keith Lambert, Lead Interior Designer Philip Garner and Artist in Residence Chris Kenyon to develop and underpin the concept, design and delivery of our world-class private resort.

Open the door to your villa or residence and disconnect immediately, from the world you left behind. Perhaps it’s the pure size of each space, or the fact that the beach, the views, the gardens, the private pool, the terrace – everything, is at your fingertips.

We understand sustainable design, we appreciate the importance of abundant space, and we know what it takes to create relaxed opulence where you can feel right at home, in an instant.

Perfect for couples, families and individual travellers, our spacious accommodation options are elegantly furnished, feature traditional Fijian nuances, and are designed to provide you with a luxury locale you can call your own.

The epitome of privacy, luxury and space, each of our twenty-one exclusive Villas include their own private pool, tropical walled garden, ocean view and direct beach access.

Open plan living at its finest, our villas feature a large living area and kitchenette with air-conditioning and ceiling fans throughout, coupled with a master bedroom with walk in closet, rain shower, a deep soaking bathtub and outdoor shower.

A refined and fresh take on Pacific design, each villa boasts a unique marriage of contemporary design practices and traditional Fijian nuances, alongside elegant stonework, and artwork by renowned artist Chris Kenyon.

Kokomo’s five expansive residences offer an unforgettable escape for multi-generational families and friends travelling together. Perfectly positioned on the hilltops, and surrounded by lush tropical gardens, each residence offers captivating views from sunrise to sunset.

The sheer magnitude of space, while awe-inspiring, welcomes and envelopes guests in their home away from home, whilst providing the perfect backdrop in which to celebrate life’s milestones.

Enjoy all the benefits of our beachfront villas, whilst securing yourself a private vista, serviced by a dedicated butler and nanny for the duration of your stay.

A sanctuary for families, Kokomo’s Three Bedroom Sunset Villas are located within walking distance of Beach Shack and Walker d’Plank. Overlooking west beach, these spacious villas will make you feel at home in an instant, and are the perfect retreat for active families.

Watch your children learn to water-ski or wake-board from the deck of your sunset villa, before joining them for an afternoon on our sea trampoline. As the sun begins to set, rinse off with an outdoor shower, before enjoying the sunset from the comfort of your sun lounger.

Inside, two double bedrooms each with ensuite, await your family, with a spacious master bedroom, private ensuite and deep soaking bathtub at the far end of the villa.

For your comfort and convenience, each villa features an expansive living area and minibar, stocked with your family’s favourite snacks. If you choose to dine in your villa, enjoy the pastel hues of the setting sun, at a table set under the stars.

Setting a new standard in Fijian cuisine, indulge your senses in a place where island grown and locally sourced produce is transformed into decadent gourmet meals.

Beachfront, poolside, destination and in-villa dining is available from sunrise to sunset. All menus are updated daily and champion Fiji’s seasonal, flavoursome produce.

Our private dining experiences are highly recommended if you are celebrating a special occasion or wanting to treat your loved one to a romantic dinner.

Our chefs would gladly prepare a private dinner or picnic based on your favourite foods, to be enjoyed at one of the many breathtaking locations around the island or surrounding, uninhabited islands.

The Helipad is a favourite destination due to its amazing panoramic views of the island, with the Chef’s Kitchen experience ideal for group gatherings.

Embracing the ‘farm to table’ concept, Kokomo boasts a 5.5 acre (2.2 hectare) farm that practices organic methodologies, growing a wide variety of local vegetables, herbs, sprouts, edible flowers and exotic fruits from zucchini to sweet basil and pineapples, the list is extensive.

The Hydroponics garden is large enough to supply fresh lettuce all year round, extra production of tomato vines, cucumbers and seedling tables; this method excludes the need for soil to grow produce.

At the start of 2018, Kokomo Private Island proudly launched the Fiji chapter of Dock to Dish; an incredible community-supported seafood and fishing venture which we are immensely proud to be a part of.

Dock to Dish is an international network of small-scale fishermen, marine biologists, and sustainable seafood advocates committed to sustainable and responsible fishing. At Kokomo, we are setting a new standard in Fijian cuisine by using a truly restorative approach that was designed with future generations in mind.

No visit to Beach Shack would be complete without trying Head Chef Enzo’s island-made pasta. The Italian master grew up in Italy, spending time throughout the Amalfi Coast, Positano, Sorrento and Naples, before reaching North Italy.

At culinary school, Enzo met his mentor, Ludavico. After giving him his first job, Ludavico introduced Enzo to a contact in Fiji. Twelve years later, and he has never looked back, though he does miss the views from Positano.

Located on the west beach, next to the arrival jetty, the Beach Shack serves breakfast, lunch and dinner; with the option of a daily tasting menu for dinner.

Located on the beach, the deck and lounge area offer amazing views over the horizon. The perfect place to watch the sunset while sipping a cocktail, before indulging in a delectable dining experience. A daily tasting menu is available for dinner.

Tucked within a small cove behind the arrival jetty, walk down the plank and leap into the flavours of Asian inspired street food. This casual restaurant and bar is positioned over the water, offering a unique setting to enjoy an ice cold beverage from noon onwards.

The restaurants no menu policy creates a point of difference, with the chef preparing dishes based on your favourite foods. Offering an amazing sunset view, Walker D’Plank is the ultimate place for a romantic rendezvous.

Adjacent to our resort pool, the Kokocabana is open for refreshments, lunch and dinner. The Cabana has a smoothie, juice and dessert bar open all day.

From 11am onwards the cheese and charcuterie counter opens and the chef begins cooking in the wood fired pizza oven. Guests can enjoy a glass of wine, beer or mixer with a charcuterie board or build their own gourmet pizza.

Leave the world behind and enter a realm where time doesn’t exist. Our highly skilled therapists draw on Fiji’s natural elements to help you relax, restore and rejuvenate.

With a range of blissful treatments and relaxation practices; this is your place to take a moment before returning to the world completely transformed. For a personal experience, treatments and holistic practices (yoga and meditation) are available in your villa or residence, upon request.

Designed to connect you the natural beauty of the island while embracing traditional Fijian nuances, the Yaukuve Spa Sanctuary is nestled in a lush, tropical garden.

The relaxation pavilion is located at the heart of the spa and serves as a place to start your journey, transition and relax between treatments. Complete your experience with a fresh juice, smoothie or bliss ball in a tranquil environment.

The Yaukuve Spa Sanctuary features five treatment rooms, a wet and dry hammam, hair salon and outdoor relaxation pavilion. Spoil your senses with a tailored treatment or browse our delectable menu.

A short distance from Kokomo are some of the most fertile and untouched waters Fiji has to offer. Ideally positioned within close proximity to the unspoilt and thriving, Great Astrolabe Reef, Kokomo offers varied, unrivalled and world-class fishing opportunities.

The waters around Kokomo contain a rich variety of pelagic and demersal species, from mackerel to marlin, wahoo and sailfish.

To experience the thrills of big game or sport fishing, you need only venture a little further from the resort, to the outer reefs, where large schools of tuna cloud the top of untouched seamounts and blue marlin cruise the deep water off the edge.

Discover the underwater wonders of the Great Astrolabe Reef, on an unparalleled underwater adventure. Extending for over 100km (62 miles), the Great Astrolabe Reef is the ultimate playground for dive enthusiasts.

Located on the north east of the Kadavu group of islands, Kokomo offers exclusivity to dive sites that are not frequented by other resorts. Come face to face with a wide variety of marine life, including reef-sharks, turtles and dolphins, as well as an abundance of coral reef fish found among the soft and hard coral formations.

With access to both the western and eastern side of the Great Astrolabe Reef, Kokomo Private Island provides guests with the opportunity to select from an impressive selection of varied dive sites.

The majority of our sites are located on the western side of the Great Astrolabe Reef. This area provides an abundance of diverse diving options and features multiple varying passages and channels that weave throughout this impressive barrier reef.

This is the best time of year for diving at Kokomo. During these months the water temperature is slightly cooler – sitting at a comfortable 24˚C (75˚F) – meanwhile, the magnificent big blue offers fantastic visibility with clear viewing of up to 60 metres, rarely dropping below 25 metres.

While diving is an all year round activity at Kokomo, the sea is at its calmest and the water temperature is at its warmest during these months – reaching up to 30˚C (86˚F). Visibility ranges from 20–30 metres, and is subject to change due to the more unpredictable weather this time of year.

MANTA RAYS (April – September)

Manta Rays can be found all year round at our many dive sites, however snorkelling encounters generally occur during the April-September period. They are regularly spotted between Kokomo and Yaukuve Lailai and have also been seen in front of the resort and around the dock.

It is important to note that these are wild animals and unfortunately encounters cannot be guaranteed. The Manta Rays average size is 3m across, however, they can grow up to 5.5m (wing tip to wing tip).

Travelling between shallow reefs and deeper waters, there are two different types: the Oceanic Manta Ray and the Reef Manta Ray – the most common of the two.

The Mantas we swim with do not have a barb on their tail so there is no chance of being stung. It is a safe, enjoyable and memorable experience to swim with these amazing creatures!

TURTLES (All Year Round)

Found around the world in warm subtropical and tropical ocean waters, turtles can be encountered right throughout the year here at Kokomo. We often spot these majestic reptiles on our outer reef dives, as well as within our House Reef, directly out the front of Kokomo.

Our local waters are home to the Green Turtle and the Hawksbill Turtle. While the Green and Hawksbill Turtles look similar, the Hawksbill can be distinguished from the Green Turtle by its sharp curving beak and the saw-like appearance of its shell margins.

The Green Turtle is lightly coloured and features a teardrop shaped carapace and large paddle-like flippers.

HUMPBACK WALES (June – September)

Humpback Whales are not a regular occurrence but we have been lucky over the years and have had a few sightings of them near Kokomo. These ever intriguing creatures travel on route from the Antarctic to warmer water throughout the southern hemisphere winter.

While they travel at a slow speed during migration they have been known to socialize, breed and calve in Fiji.

They have also been spotted on the way to Kadavu during excursions as well as transfer flights to and from the island – so keep your cameras at the ready! If luck is on your side, you may also spot Pilot Whales between April – September.

SHARKS (All Year Round)

There are an array of sharks that manoeuvre through the reef all year round. Reef Sharks – such as White Tip Sharks – are often spotted on diving and snorkelling trips, however we do have an abundance of Grey Sharks that reside at Solo Reef.

Oceanic Hammerheads are also sighted all year around but particularly between July – August. These sharks are often found in the shallower reefs near a drop off or passage.

Experienced divers will often spot Bull Sharks at Solo Reef (1-hour boat ride from the resort). The ever elusive Tiger Sharks have been sighted a few times, however, they are a rare occurrence.

We often sight spinner dolphins when the sea is calm. These small cheeky creatures are found in offshore tropical waters and love playing in the bow of the boat! Most famous for their aerial displays, the playful Spinner Dolphin can make two to five spins in one leap, and reach up to ten feet high.

The acrobats of the sea, scientists believe that spinners have developed a very sophisticated language using jumps, dives, and turns. Spinners live in large pods (from a few dozen to a thousand or more); and while they are residents throughout the year here, sighting a pod of spinners is pure luck.
