The architecture and aesthetics complement the beauty of natural surroundings. Soori Bali is a blissful paradise with genuine connection to the villages and local culture. This connection is sensitively nurtured and shared with our guests seeking experiences beyond the ordinary.

Set on the edge of the ocean between the Mount Batukaru and terraced rice fields, Soori Bali is a hidden refuge, rejuvenating and peaceful; it is Bali as it should be. Designed, owned and operated by renowned architect Soo K. Chan, the resort prioritises environmental and cultural sustainability.

Crafted out of local materials, the resort maintains a true sense of place, with Architecture, Interior Design and Landscape from award-winning design firm SCDA. All 48 of Soori Bali’s villas feature private pools with sweeping vistas of the mountain or ocean, with a 1km stretch of volcanic black sand beach.

Keeping things pure, its restaurants use fresh produce from nearby farms and spices from its own garden. At Soori Spa, our ultimate goal is to guide you towards a lasting sense of wellbeing through holistic healing and nurturing treatments.

Within easy reach of the legendary Tanah Lot and the scenic wonders of the Tabanan, the resort is perfect for those seeking spiritual and recreational delights. There are few places that revere nature’s gifts like we do, and absolute discretion for our guests is the pattern of our craft. Soori Bali is an amazing place to be, naturally.

Lush gardens, water courts and air wells organically interplay with the elements of volume, light and surface. Our eco-friendly resort is constructed and managed in accordance with EarthCheck international environmental standards. Sensitive site planning, use of local building materials and native landscaping were given paramount importance throughout the design and construction of Soori Bali.

A truly holistic project, this development was designed through a collaborative process which included the study of the local environment and consultation with the neighbouring communities to incorporate not only the site’s climatic parameters, but also age-old social and religious customs.

Processional routes were conserved throughout the site, allowing the locals to descend to the beach during religious ceremonies. Traditional irrigation systems of the nearby rice paddies were extended through the site to allow for proper drainage.

Following the architecture’s carefully studied forms that promote natural ventilation, planters, low shrubs and taller trees were also positioned to maximise wind flow through villas and common spaces, avoiding the creation of wind barriers.

INTERIORS
Soori Bali’s interiors are inspired by local colours, crafts and materials. Walls are clad in paras kelating, a cool grey sandstone manually extracted and transported from the banks of a nearby river. The intricate, flower-patterned tiles are especially created for the spa by the artisans of Pejaten, a neighbouring village famous for its terracotta production.

Batu candi, a local volcanic stone, brings the colour of the resort’s black-sand beach within the interiors of the villas. Bronze and stone accessories found throughout the development are also the result of the collaboration between SCDA and local craftsmen.

This collective design and construction process united the efforts of the design team and the Balinese artisans, allowing Soori Bali to be thoroughly anchored in its surrounding context by literally moulding it out of locally available materials and skills, bringing a new twist to the concept of oeuvre d’art totale.

This is followed by a steam shower filled with fresh local herbs and essential oil aromas, which thicken the air with a heady and cleansing mist. Cool off with a cold rinse and an electrolyte drink.
