Back in 1570, when Hilmar von Münchhausen converted the knight’s fortress in Schwöbber into an elegant castle, it became a collection point for many cultural antiques. They contribute to the unique ambiance of the castle.

Stroll through or just explore and discover the wonders of the Castle Park, the multitude of plants, the variety of trees and walkways. The unique parkland is simply a nature refuge, where on can simply relax.
With its many aspects, rare trees and plants, the park presents many surprises. Even the Russian Tzar, Peter the Great, who visited the park and its Orangerie some 300 years ago, was astounded by its beauty and variety.
THE HOTEL
Just ten minutes away from the medieval city of Hamelin of Pied Piper fame, really worth a visit, you will find the gorgeous castle dating from 1570, nowadays the 5 Star Superior Schlosshotel Münchhausen.
The castle was completely renovated and reopened in 2004 and is a wonderful place for the bons-vivants, recreation seekers and a golfer’s paradise. The historical architecture, exquisite décor, parklands, coupled with the warm hospitality and friendly service creates a unique atmosphere for all guests.
CULINARY DELIGHTS
Dining, you have a choice, either the Michelin Star and 17 Gault Millau Points Gourmet-Restaurant or the “1570“-Petit Gourmet of Achim Schwekendiek or the Castle Cellar Restaurant (Schlosskeller) with its wonderful summer terrace offering the finest classics of German, Austrian and International cuisine.
You can enjoy coffee and cake or an aperitif in the Rittersaal Lobby (Knight’s Hall) and end the day with a cocktail at the cozy Schloss Bar.
GOLF HEAVEN
Especially for golfers Schlosshotel Münchhausen is a sporting haven because of two 18-hole courses, situated in beautiful parkland directly surrounding and just steps away from the hotel.
18 hole Master- Course “Baron von Münchhausen” (Par 73)
This is a fascinating and challenging course. The first 5 holes lay on the flatter ground of the Beber valley, sand and water hazards making it an interesting challenge.
Hole 6 leads into the hills and woods, tees 7, 9 and 13 will reward the uphill walk with breathtaking views while on tee 14 a spectacular view of the Weser country side can be enjoyed.
18 hole Academy-Course “Lucia von Reden” (Par 59)
This is a trickily narrow course, which is richly equipped with sand and water hazards. A ball retriever might come in useful. The course laid out in a park of wonderful old trees follows the current of the Beber creek.
The experienced player will be surprised at what golf architects were able to achieve on such limited grounds. After the round, what better than relaxing your muscles in the 800 m² Spa equipped with a 18 m pool, sauna and steam baths. Massages and beauty treatments are also available.
