A romantic hotel, a spacious spa – a holistic health resort in the middle of a beautiful, historic Jugendstil park. For generations, the Bolland-Anton family (the “BollAnts”) have made their mark on this unique place.

You can feel the sense for aesthetics, for indulgence and health. These people have made it their exciting duty to maintain the 110-year-old and tradition-steeped founding operation of the Felke healing method in Germany.

History
1907 – Founding of the “Felke-Jungborn Kurhaus Dhonau”
A stubborn case of neurodermatitis was to blame. The butcher Andres Dhonau, great-grandfather of today’s owning Bolland-Anton family, received treatment from the Sobernheim minister Emanuel Felke.

The minister’s recipe sounded simple: “Light, air, water and earth”. Among the therapy were treatments with medicinal clay, gentle activity in the fresh air, a light, purging diet and lots of water from within and without. Mr. Dhonau recovered and wrested a promise from the minister: If he established a kurhaus, the minister was to work and heal there.

The idea of the Felke healing method
As early as 25 years of age, Andres Dhonau had made a name for himself as an independent butcher in Bad Sobernheim.

Because of a severe illness, the young Andres had “already resigned” in 1902, as he wrote in his book about the origin of the Felke therapy. “Only through the intervention of the Minister Emanuel Felke, who had become renowned for his natural healing methods, was I able to be saved.”

The “wondrous healing,” documented Dhonau, “awakened an internal voice within me that urged me incessantly to begin a work by establishing a Felke sanatorium that would serve the high ideal of healing sick people.”

In short, Dhonau sold his very first successfully established butcher’s shop and, in 1907, founded his first domain on the Nahe with Minister Felke. “One day, I will have to place what was begun in the spirit of trust in the Lord and brotherly love in other hands… Andres Dhonau.”

Today, the third and fourth generations of the Bolland-Anton family continue to lead the modern natural healing resort, which was established 110 years ago by Great-Grandfather Andres Dhonau on the same site as the “Felke Jungborn Kurhaus Dhonau”.

In the year 2005 Jan Bolland, Janine Bolland-Georg and Nicole Prass-Anton assumed leadership in the traditional Bad Sobernheim operation – the fourth generation since the founding of the hotel by great-grandfather Andres Dhonau in 1907.

The BollAnts is listed by the independent Relax Guide as one of the twenty best wellness hotels in Germany (one of the few spa hotels, which has already been named since the first

Places of interest On the Rhine and Nahe – Our tips for exciting excursions
Our little “Günderrode Filmhaus” annexe in Oberwesel on the Rhine. Cultural site of Hunsrück history around the film project “Heimat” by Edgar Reitz. A small restaurant and café with a brilliant Rhine view. Beautiful Rhine hiking trails directly at the building, approx. 40 minute car drive.

Explore the neighbouring “Rhineland-Palatinate Open-Air Museum” in Bad Sobernheim with a small hike through the Nightingale Valley, and feel as if you were transported back a century. A visit to the nearby Disibodenberg monastery (3 km) – place of power and domain of the healer “Hildegard of Bingen”.

  • Stone Sculpture Museum: The only contemporary stone sculpture museum in the world. In the middle of the Nahe valley wine-growing countryside.

Welcome to one of the world’s best Riesling regions
The wines of the Nahe form the focus of our wine menu. The BollAnts lies in the middle of the Nahe wine-growing region, which is one of the best Riesling regions in the world.

Big names from the Nahe are represented on our menu, e.g. the Dönnhoff vineyard from Oberhausen/Nahe, the Emrich-Schönleber vineyard from Monzingen, Schlossgut Diel from Burg Layen and even the Schäfer-Fröhlich vineyard from Bockenau.

We likewise present you with the newcomers, such as the Joh.Bapt. vineyard, Schäfer from Burg Layen or Jan Bolland’s favourite vintners, the Korrell vineyard from Bosenheim.

“It can be more than a little strange. The Nahe vintners must have made some kind of pact. Most certainly. With the devil, Petrus or Bacchus, likely with all three at the same time.

It can’t be explained any other way that someone would make out so well, if not outstandingly, even with the 2011, which made for discordant wines in so many other regions. Indeed, it is a marvellous vintage on the Nahe. It is the year of the Nahe!” – The “Gault Millau” wine guide on Nahe wines

New: The “BollAnts Only” wine edition, incl. a “Riesling semi-dry” from the Emrich-Schönleber vineyard, “Riesling dry” from the Schäfer-Fröhlich vineyard, “Riesling & Gelber Muskateller” from the Korrell vineyard and many more! These wines are available exclusively at the BollAnts.

Cuisine
CASUAL AND HEALTHY – THE BOLLANTS VITAL CUISINE
Wonderful food – and body and mind are already brought in harmony! Each of our three restaurants is extraordinary. In the Villa restaurant, you will be enthroned in the first floor of a historic building with a view of the park.

The Mediterranean Hermannshof excites with its cosy chairs and old, vintage furniture in the sandstone arch, and the Jungborn with its Michelin star enchants with its gallant design and top class cooking.

And, naturally, we above all recommend wines from our Nahe wine region, which is known worldwide for great Rieslings and Burgundies.

The Jungborn
MICHELIN-STAR CUISINE IN OUR HISTORIC VAULT
Welcome to the Michelin-starred kitchen of Philipp Helzle! The chef and his kitchen and service team welcome their guests in the historic sandstone vault, which is modern and tastefully furnished to create an extraordinary atmosphere. Quite fitting for the culinary flights of fancy that visitors can look forward to!

In the Jungborn, the name of the star restaurant in BollAnts Spa im Park, which is reminiscent of the founding era of the Felke-Kurhaus in Bad Sobernheim, guests enjoy a menu of the finest in the evening.

Modern, contemporary, refined and imaginative – and at the same time reduced to the essentials – is how the Michelin-starred chef de cuisine describes his style, which he ambitiously and passionately implements in teamwork with his sous chef, Niklas Maletzke, head pastry chef Frédéric Guillon and other kitchen staff.

In the Gault Millau restaurant guide, the kitchen crew has been awarded 17 points. Guests can choose between two menus and à la carte dishes from the two menus.

When putting together the menus, Philipp Helzle and his team make sure that variety is guaranteed and that meat, fish and vegetarian courses all play a role.

The Aachen-born chef, who learned the fine art of cooking from Sven Elverfeld and Claus Peter Lumpp, emphasises that they can also cater to special wishes and particularities. The Jungborn also serves completely vegetarian and vegan menus, subject to prior reservation.

If you visit the Jungborn on a warm summer evening, you are also welcome to take a seat on the vine-covered courtyard terrace and enjoy your star menu in a romantic outdoor atmosphere.

THE RECIPE FOR SUCCESS: QUALITY COMBINED WITH CREATIVITY AND PASSION
The chefs regularly put their heads together to create imaginative menus that give guests unforgettable culinary moments of happiness. Refined, seasonal, regional, sometimes with an Asian or Italian accent. One thing is always the same: they attach great importance to the best ingredients.

They have to be fresh, purchased from producers who are known and whose quality has been appreciated for years. Wherever possible, regional products are used, from organic farmers, premium suppliers who are known for good meat and the best fish.

Fresh herbs are picked from the restaurant’s own herb garden, and preference is given to old varieties of vegetables, whose full flavour develops individually depending on the preparation and accompaniment.

Philipp Helzle is always reinventing himself in culinary terms, implementing modern techniques and making use of the region. It goes without saying that guests’ wishes are accommodated and popular Jungborn classics are added to the menu.

These include, for example, lamb with beetroot and ricotta gnocchis, asparagus dishes in spring and chestnut tortelloni with black truffles and pumpkin in autumn.

The service is as ambitious and professional as the cuisine! Petra Helzle and Jonas Berg are responsible for this. Both give extremely competent and passionate advice, make recommendations for wine pairings and are very proud that the majority of the good wines come from the Nahe region.

The Hermannshof
THE EPICUREAN RESTAURANT IN THE RUSTIC VAULT
A touch of patina surrounds the more than one hundred years old cellar vault. Today it is a place for enjoyment and well-being and is known as Der Hermannshof. The restaurant is located on the ground floor, directly next to the Jungborn star restaurant and captivates with its historic charm.

An ancient wooden floor has been preserved and old barn beams have been converted into lighting. The furnishings with tables, armchairs and chairs in shabby chic, framed by many lovingly selected design accessories in vintage style, match this.

On warm summer evenings, guests have the choice of enjoying their menu in the cosy atmosphere of the vaulted cellar or taking their place on the romantic terrace in the vine-covered inner courtyard.

Hermannshof Vintagerestaurant
SEASONAL DISHES WITH A REGIONAL TOUCH
Philipp Helzle wields the sceptre in the kitchen. Together with his team, he puts together the menu, which focuses on seasonal dishes with a regional touch and high-quality products. House guests who have reserved their place at the Hermannshof can choose between two changing 4-course menus.

Guests from outside may also dine à la carte and choose from the menus. Special requests due to allergies and other intolerances are always taken into account.

Those who prefer a vegetarian or vegan menu can also look forward to the art of enjoyment at the Hermannshof. Philipp Helzle and his team can best adapt to this if guests indicate any special requirements when booking their table.

Restaurant Hermannshof Riviera Maison
VARIETY ON THE PALATE
The Hermannshof at BollAnts Spa im Park in Bad Sobernheim is uncomplicated and straightforward. Philipp Helzle and his team place great value on well-crafted, down-to-earth dishes and varied menus that can be enjoyed by many guests.

Fish, meat and vegetarian dishes are taken into account when putting together the courses. In this way, the guest enjoys variety on the palate and feels how much all disciplines are mastered here.

Despite all the variety, the Hermannshof restaurant also includes the guests’ all-time favourites on the menu from time to time. The coq au vin, for example, served with homemade mashed potatoes and accompanied by mushrooms and onions, is particularly popular.

Equally popular are the curry lemongrass soup or the ox cheeks, which Helzle pickles himself and cooks gently for many hours with butter-tender results.

The Villa
HIGHLY AROMATIC “CUISINE VITALE”
The Villa restaurant in the historic dining hall of our kurhaus. Today expanded with cosy furnishings and light winter gardens with a view of the countryside.

The kitchen is under the leadership of head chef Jens Gilcher, who already worked for many years as sous chef in our gourmet restaurant. Starters, soup and dessert are offered at the buffet, the main course is served.

LINDEN bar & lounge
Have you noticed our majestic linden tree in the centre of our romantic park? Planted for posterity centuries ago by the founding family of the original Kurhaus, the precursor to BollAnts, this tree has symbolised peace throughout the years.

Today, the lush foliage provides welcome shade on sunny days and the tree is the namesake of our contemporary new bar: the LINDEN bar & lounge.

A SENSE OF HOME ELEGANTLY CURATED
Located in the Villa building, our cosy LINDEN bar & lounge welcomes guests with an elegant sense of home. The Nah region is reflected in the stunning wooden interior, set off by relaxing, natural colours and comfortable, high-quality leather seating.

With many unique elements crafted out of a single ancient tree, and a warm wood floor in keeping with the style of the hotel, the bar has a varied yet cohesive feel.

The connection to nature is beautifully resonated by the bespoke fabrics, reflecting the eclectic patterns nature bestows upon each individual tree. Extensive windows offer an uninterrupted view of the picturesque surroundings and provide direct access to the idyllic hotel park with pool and outdoor bar area.

ENJOY SOME YOU-TIME UNDER THE LINDEN TREE
In fine weather, you are invited to linger under the shady boughs of the linden tree for freshly-prepared lunches or a refreshing evening sundowner. Relax with the aromatic scents of the surrounding gardens subtly echoed in your glass.

COCKTAILS REINVENTED
Taking inspiration from the creations of local herbalist, Hildegard von Bingen, our bespoke cocktails offer an innovative twist with flavours uniquely nuanced by fresh herbs and spices from our thriving garden.

Gin, rum and whiskey classics are remastered with the addition of aromatic ingredients such as basil, lavender, chilli, lemongrass and thyme.

FIRST-CLASS WINES OF THE REGION
In addition to our comprehensive cocktail menu, we are pleased to offer our guests a vast selection of quality wines and spirits to cater to each individual taste, including vegan options.

Our wine by the glass menu includes approximately 30 popular varieties, with many originating from the Nahe Region. First-class champagnes and exquisite sparkling wines are complemented by a range of grappa, Armagnac and brandies from local vintners.

LOCALLY-SOURCED GOODNESS
The LINDEN bar & lounge is open daily, offering a lunchtime selection of sumptuous à la carte dishes and a delicious 2-course menu, in addition to afternoon tea, coffee & cake.

Our focus is on providing fresh, healthy, regional cuisine based on the “farm to table” concept, sourcing quality organic produce from the fertile Nahe countryside.

Eat consciously –Underpinned by the BollAnts focus on wellness, our tasty two-course lunch menu is changed daily and offers healthy and sustainable dishes made from seasonal local and regional ingredients.

“Red lentil soup with chilli, lemon oil, freshly chopped herbs, sesame and cumin” and ” chicken strips served with brown rice and avocado-parsley cream accompanied by beetroot, diced sweet potato, cucumber and rocket drizzled with a blueberry-walnut sauce.” are just some of the culinary creations on offer and fresh SooNahe sourdough bread with homemade herb pesto is served with every meal.

For guests that prefer à la carte cuisine, our menu offers “Bar Food”, “Regional” and “Healthy Food” choices. Lighter options are available for smaller appetites, including fresh salads, healthy bowls, and mouthwatering classics such as tarte flambée or the vintner’s board with local ham and beef tartare.

Our tempting cake bar continues the theme of quality regional delights, serving delectable homemade pastries, including the classic BollAnts warm lemon tart. Artisan coffee is served, courtesy of our close neighbour, Beckelumer Bohnenschmiede, a local coffee roaster.

REGULAR CULINARY EVENTS
The varied LINDEN bar & lounge social calendar includes our regular RED WINE & RED MEAT event, as well as cocktail-making and wine tasting sessions. Hosting a weekly live music evening, the bar is a popular and vibrant gathering place for both hotel guests and local visitors.

On Sundays and Mondays, the bar presents a vintner’s WINE & DINE experience, where guests can immerse themselves in the tastes of the Nahe Region through a three-course meal paired with delicious local wines.

THE CONCEPT
In Far Eastern philosophy, prana stands for life force and life energy. It is influenced by the seven main energy centres of the body, the chakras.

The chakras are located along the spine, for example at the level of the heart, larynx and navel, and have an effect on the surrounding organs, but also on emotions, psyche and character.

Those who get involved in the Prana Spa by BollAnts learn more about the meaning and effect of the chakras. Every day, the focus is on one of the seven chakras

  • Root chakra / Muladhara
  • Sacral chakra / Swadhistana
  • Solar plexus chakra / Manipura
  • Heart chakra / Anahata
  • Throat chakra / Vishudda
  • Brow chakra / Ajna
  • Crown chakra / Sahasrara

EVERYTHING CAN, NOTHING MUST
Experience the Prana SPA as a magical place. Learn to activate your energy centres and take many suggestions and aids for more inner balance and mindfulness with you into your everyday life. We activate your chakras with

In the spacious relaxation area, indoors as well as on the sun terrace, you will find your very own individual retreat and relaxation area.

Lounge sofas, various loungers and our special offer, the Aerial Yoga hanging swings, invite you to relax and unwind. Readings, sound meditations and aerial yoga sessions are held here regularly.

The philosophy of the Prana SPA is based on Far Eastern relaxation methods. They are complemented by modern biofeedback avatar lamps. These measure the heart rate and set coloured light impulses that lead step by step to the desired state of relaxation and inner balance.

It’s no longer a secret tip – hiking in the Nahe countryside, in the Hochwald and Soonwald forests is now a trend. Here you can find more information on the major hiking trails of our region. There are hiking maps for little hiking excursions in the immediate surroundings at the hotel reception and in the hotel shop.

Tradition-steeped natural medicine
More than 100 years ago, the holistic Felke regime began with the healer Minister Emanuel Felke (1856-1926) at BollAnt’s in the Park.

In this founding and competence centre of the Felke therapy in Bad Sobernheim, you’ll regenerate with the gentle power of the natural elements and attain new vitality with the effects of the “loam”.

Felke Med therapeutic fasting
An essential component of our Felke.Med concept is therapeutic fasting as per Dr. Otto Buchinger.

Combined with the further developed Felke healing method, many of our guests in recent years have used the offer to lastingly purify and revitalise their minds and bodies. You can make preventative or therapeutic use of your stay to have a positive influence on your health.

Therapeutic fasting means voluntarily forgoing solid food for a certain period of time. The human organism possesses the ability to live off its reserves for a certain period of time, and in doing so can activate its self-healing powers.

In addition to the weight loss, various effects of fasting are the focus of interest today: anti-ageing, treatment of numerous chronic diseases, as well as the prevention of illness, ailments of old age like dementia, and cancer.

Mentally, the fasting process has a positive effect on personal awareness, to the point of self-discovery. Based on our many years of experience, we have put together a selection of arrangements for your stay. These can be individually supplemented with medical and therapeutic offerings.

Felke Med Detox 2.0
Advancement and change have been part of our philosophy for more than 100 years. With a view to the wishes and needs of our current fasters and the experience from 35 years of medical fasting support, we have developed a new, even more intensive, holistic fasting programme for you.

Living conditions have changed in the last hundred years: Today we work in closes rooms; in the cities, there reigns a sustained noise level, and everyday and unconscious intake of environmental toxins via the skin, lungs and intestines.

Added to that are sustained stress, a deluge of media and a lack of recreational sports. Many of these disruptive factors were not around in the time of Felke and Buchinger, which is why it’s needed for us to adjust the original fasting therapy to today’s requirements.

Over the years, our capacities for detoxification are exhausted and impurity buildups accumulate. The body inadvertently stores toxins that increasingly cause symptoms.

This facilitates the formation of illnesses that didn’t used to exist, and that today are necessary to prevent. Fatigue, exhaustion, depressive resentments, headaches and digestive disorders are serious warning signals by our bodies.

It’s high time to authorise a time out for your mind, body and soul. As part of the detox fasting, you will intensively and sustainably free your body from these buildups and toxins (especially heavy metals). At the same time, your empty stores are filled back up.

Centuries-old Ayurvedic treatments known for removing toxins supplement the Felke medicinal clay therapy. Classic channelling therapies also support the detoxification of the tissue and skin.

In the centre of the treatments, moreover, are relaxation and relieving emotional burdens. Mindfulness arises when we can let go. We’ll help you with meditations, yoga and autogenic training sessions.

Medicinal clay therapy
The natural healer Adolf Just (1859-1936) is considered the discoverer of medicinal clay therapy in the modern age. Minister Felke took on this successful concept, made it internationally famous in his time and went down in history as the “Clay Minister”.

Felke further developed the regime and combined the natural elements of light, air, water and earth in the “Felke medicinal clay bath”.

Scientific studies confirm the multifaceted effect of the healing earth in the form of mud baths outdoors (April to October only), full-body medicinal clay therapy in the steam bath (year-round), as well as warm and could poultices.

In 1994, Dr. Axel Bolland supplemented the traditional mud baths with the Felke medicinal clay steam bath, which today is applied worldwide.
