Nestling in the heart of a 57-acre vineyard, the Bastide de Marie is a haven of peace where life is good. This Provençal bastide comprises 14 guest rooms each designed with a unique decor, where you will find the perfect coolness and finesse.

When in the lounge areas overlooking the vineyards or in the vicinity of the gardens or pools, just go with the flow and be rewarded with simple moments of happiness.

Between Ménerbes and Bonnieux, you will spot an elegant 18th-century residence: a typical country farm restored with respect for the pure tradition of the Provencal Bastide. Nestling among the Domaine de Marie vineyard, La Bastide de Marie shines out with a splendor rooted in authenticity.

A driveway bordered by Cyprus trees, century-old olive trees, and enchantingly scented lavender bushes leads up to the house. La Bastide de Marie offers bespoke luxury travels for all those in love with the Luberon.

The Domaine de Marie and its 57-acre vineyard embodies the Sibuet family’s love for wine. Grenache, Syrah, Roussanne, Vermantino, Cinsault and Mourvedre, a host of grape varieties that cellarmaster Arnaud Bressy passionately nurtures with his focus on excellence.

In autumn, the vineyards come alive with glowing colours. The much-awaited grape-harvesting season is in full swing at the Domaine! Secateurs in hand, take part in this key period in the life of the vineyard, and then experience the unique atmosphere of wine-aging cellar hard at work.

Shortly afterwards you will have the opportunity to enter the wine cellar for an introduction to oenology. In between wine sampling, the Luberon invites you to discover its most wildest hidden spots.

Truffle hunting
The truffle, nicknamed the black diamond, is one of the mysterious riches of the Luberon. To discover its secrets, a truffle grower will lead you into the forest for an astonishing walk in the forest. A privileged experience, to be enjoyed during a stay at the Bastide de Marie.

In the heart of the Luberon, Kita, an excellent Corsican shepherd trained in truffle hunting steals between the trees, snout on the ground. It takes less than 5 minutes for the dog to pound under a holm oak under a holm oak, scratching the ground to mark the right spot.

Thanks to her keen sense of smell she finds the truffles that have reached maturity only by the smell they give off, in the midst of the forest’s innumerable scents. She is immediately stopped by her master by her master who digs in turn.

He digs out a black, bumpy truffle weighing almost 250 grams. He carefully fills in the hole because in two years’ time, new truffles will grow in the same place.

Ménerbes
On either side of the Calavon valley, between Cavaillon and Apt, the extraordinary landscape of the Luberon nature park, is the setting for the unbelievably charming villages that perch on the hillsides likes invitations to come and see how sweet life is in Provence.

This genuine place full of character has triumphantly stood the test of time and preserved the authentic Provencal spirit. To listen to the heart of this region is to discover its, dearest and most tender secrets…

To the north, overlooked by the mountains of the Vaucluse, Gordes, Goult and Roussillon enchant visitors. to the south of the valley, perched on the sides of Luberon mountain, other magical names echo: Ménerbes, Oppède, Lacoste, Bonnieux, Buoux and Saignon, evoking memories of ancient times.

Considered one of the France’s most beautiful villages, Menerbes floats above the Luberon on a rocky spur-shaped like a sailing ship, whose stern and prow were described by a certain Nostradamus.

Around this promontory, emblematic natural surroundings can be admired from the end of each street, from the old cemetery that dates back to Ancient Rome, or from the citadel and the castle.

On this sun-drenched territory where coombs, Atlas cedar forest and garrigues form the natural landscape, man has grown vines, lavender fields, olive trees and fruit trees.

Vineyard Stroll

All around the Domaine, take a walk through the 23 hectares of the Domaine de Marie, including 19 hectares of vines with different grape varieties: grenache, roussane, vermentino, clairette, viognier, muscat à petits grains, gewurztraminer.

You will also discover the 250 olive trees and the immense aromatic garden with more than 200 varieties destined for the table at the Bastide de Marie and the Pure Altitude Spa. A parenthesis with your feet on the ground as well as in the earth.

Yoga in Provence
To fight against stress, there is nothing like a yoga practice facing the vineyards. Alone or with friends, call on our certified teacher, tune your breath to that of the cicadas or the wind in the leaves and reconnect body and mind.

Pretty markets of Provence
Regardless of which day you arrive, you can be sure there will be a market in one of the nearby villages the following morning. And the fact you don’t have to cook doesn’t matter: It is such a pleasure to wander through the rows of seasonal, freshly harvested vegetables.

Some stallholders even display the names and locations of each producer on little slates. The experience continues with an animated discussion with the chef after returning from the market. Cedric Luisin at Villa Marie and François Martin at Bastide de Marie source their produce directly from…

Local growers. Early risers will spot François while van as he leaves to meet his producer of red onions, bundles of leafy greens, carrots and salads on-site at the field. The markets of Provence offer a combination of delights, including regionally unique products such as vine peaches.

Cavaillon melons and red apricots, multicolored, woven raffia bags, lavender essential oils, wild boar sausage, and lavender honey. The stalls stretch as far as the eye can see on the most beautiful spot of every village – the main square shadowed by impressive plane trees.

This is an example of true local life, accompanied by conversations in local accents and the sight of local elders deep in discussion on benches with their hands crossed over walking canes.

Visitors and locals alike stroll in the cool shadows of the plane trees, and many take a break with a lemonade or a pastis on one of the terraces. After the market, it’s time to head back to the hotel to indulge in a meal of delicious, fresh, seasonal produce created lovingly by the chef.
