The House Restaurant
Irish cuisine with a Michelin star
Our one Michelin-starred hotel restaurant in Ireland is simply named The House Restaurant at The Cliff House Hotel.

The fine dining experience is open for dinner with its first sitting at 6.30pm, and second at 8:00pm. We offer an eight course tasting menu with an emphasis on seafood in our sea front restaurant.

An exciting new phase in the continuing story of Cliff House Hotel has just begun, with the appointment of Executive Chef, Ian Doyle, leading a new and dynamic young kitchen team at the helm of this elegant coastal retreat.

Ian’s main focus is on sustainability and keeping everything as Irish as possible, supporting local, with an emphasis on producers and local fisherman as well as using wild ingredients from land and sea while taking inspiration from our history, heritage and surroundings.

“There is an incredibly positive movement happening in food in Ireland, with incredibly talented Chefs throughout the country, and myself and the team at Cliff House Hotel are looking forward to being a part of it.” (Ian Doyle EXECUTIVE CHEF)

Menus

Menus change as regularly as the team’s explorations of new ideas, and Ireland’s growing seasons. House Restaurant is Tuesday to Saturday – all year round. There are exceptions in weeks with bank holidays.

A Seafront Bar
With the very best of Irish cuisine
The interior is dominated by a curved walnut bar reminiscent of a tall sailing ship, while behind the bar shelves are replicas of grappling hooks used by local fishermen, fashioned from brass hook ends.

In winter, a fire burns, creating the intimate, cosy feel of a traditional Irish pub. In summer, the stone terrace hops with diners making the most of our dramatic cliffside perch. The bar is open seven days a week for lunch, dinner and snacks.

Bookings for our terrace are not available at this time and we will be operating on a walk-in basis only. Please note that although we try to accommodate everyone, availability is not guaranteed.

In our relaxed Bar Restaurant, you will find a menu that is both sophisticated and easygoing — a tribute to the very best of Irish cuisine.

Our menus offer a wide selection of local meat, vegetable and seafood dishes, including monkfish, Helvick cod, local crab, and chowder. Rib-eye steaks are meltingly soft, while the desserts are classic Irish comfort food taken to the next level.

True Diversity of Styles
From our CLIFF Sommeliers
Our team of sommeliers at Cliff House Hotel work very closely with our Executive Chef Ian Doyle to equal his innovative modern Irish cuisine with an exciting, surprising wine list. Bottles are stored in a glass-walled wine cellar for your perusal.

A compelling beer list is also available, alongside Champagnes, sparkling wines and classic, organic and dessert wines.

The wines on our list reflect a true diversity of styles and countries from both the old and new worlds. Impeccably informed – and always exploratory – we present an interesting array of tastes and flavours.

Sometimes even Japanese sake finds itself on to the wine tasting menu, devised to accompany the eight-course fine dining experience in The House Restaurant.

Choose to compliment your eight-course tasting menu with our carefully curated matching wines or for those celebrating a special occasion why not add a glass of Champagne?

WINE DINNERS

Wine dinners at Cliff House Hotel are a very special treat. Oenophiles can enjoy an hour-long wine masterclass and wine tasting delivered by our Sommelier, followed by an inventive dinner menu created by our fantastic team and Executive Chef Ian Doyle.
