In the heart of the city, in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter and just a few yards from the Cathedral, stands Mercer Barcelona. A boutique hotel with 28 rooms and suites in a unique historical setting. A 5 star grand luxe Monument hotel, elegant and exclusive to have treasured experiences. Come and discover it.

Mercer Barcelona is an innovative 5 star boutique hotel in the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter. It is housed in a group of historic buildings artistically restored under the direction of renowned architect Rafael Moneo, Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts 2012.

The hotel, built on a part of the Roman wall of ancient Barcino, preserves remains from several historical periods of enormous heritage value, including the medieval arches and the original 12th-century frescos which have been recovered to display and give a sense of Barcelona’s history.

The restored historical features are evident in virtually every area of the hotel including its rooms: wooden ceilings dating from the 18th century and the atrium, presided over by two 14th-century semicircular arches which are the only ones of their kind in Barcelona.

Opened in 2012, Mercer Barcelona has 28 enthralling rooms and suites. A unique and sophisticated place to cater for anyone looking for exclusivity and an ideal venue for exploring the city’s main sights.

In Carrer Lledó in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, the origin and soul of the city. A few minutes’ walk from the Cathedral, la Rambla, the Boquería market and Passeig de Gràcia.

Suite
Go up to the third floor of the hotel, formerly known as the “noble floor”, open the door and enter the Mercer Suite. Elegant, bright, exclusive, spacious, unique.

An exquisite 95sqm (1022sq ft) treat with separate areas for the bedroom, living room and bathroom. The bedroom, separated from the living room by a large sliding door, has a complete ensuite bathroom equipped with a rain-effect shower and bathtub.

Through the large windows, which flood the living room with natural light, you can see Carrer Lledó, one of medieval Barcelona’s most ancient seigniorial streets.

The sloping ceiling featuring wooden beams and the oak floor bring warmth to the room. Sophisticated paintings, luxury furniture, a large table, a Nespresso coffee maker and a selection of premium drinks in the minibar. Why can’t you have it all?

The Mercer Suite can be connected to a Junior Suite through a private hall for more space and comfort for those traveling as a family.

Junior Suite
Waking up surrounded by the Gothic Quarter’s narrow streets or feeling the pleasant freshness of the Orange Tree Courtyard truly is an experience. It’s no surprise that Junior Suites are one of our guests’ favourite rooms.

Spacious rooms with more than 42sqm (452sq ft), designed to make your stay in Barcelona unforgettable. Bright, some of them with a balcony, cosy and comfortable. They have stylish oak floors, exclusive furniture and designer bathrooms.

Near the window, a pleasant reading corner with a floor lamp and chaise longue where you can dive into the pages of a good book and enjoy your downtime to the full.

Superior Room
The best way to make your dreams come true is to wake up. If you do that with a smile on your face in the huge bed in a Superior room between soft white Egyptian cotton sheets… so much the better.

Open your eyes and discover the magical realism of the Roman city of Barcino, as some Superior rooms have the distinctive feature of being inside the structure of one Barcelona’s former defence towers. Overlooking the Gothic Quarter’s streets or the hotel’s vertical garden, Superior rooms are elegant and welcoming.

Designed with impeccable taste, they feature stylish oak floors, exclusive furniture and designer bathrooms. The outcome is rooms with a refined and pleasant atmosphere for the complete comfort of our guests.

In spring-summer breakfast is served al fresco by the hotel’s courtyard: A patio surrounded by a large glazed window, with a majestic 16th-century pillar, minimalist furniture and the orange blossom aroma. A unique oasis in the Barcelona Gothic Quarter.

Restaurant
A truly incredible lunch or dinner in one of the most elegant and romantic restaurants in Barcelona. A premium gastronomic experience put together by chef Xavier Lahuerta.

Its menu and tasting menu are based on traditional Catalan cuisine with an exquisite French touch, local seasonal ingredients and modern culinary techniques. The result: quality Catalan cuisine with enormous respect for tradition and raw materials.

The Mercer Restaurant also has a private room for small events and celebrations, set in one of the defence towers of the former Roman wall of Barcino and featuring the original 12th-century frescoes. A unique setting in Barcelona, packed with history and personality.

El Patio
Following the urban architecture traditionally conceived around central courtyards, the Mercer Barcelona preserves the original building courtyard and the majestic pillar of the 16th century -symbol of its past-.

At the same time, the patio incorporates modern elements such as the large glazed window that surrounds it . The orange blossom aroma and the minimalist furniture emphasize a space that invites you to enjoy an intimate and relaxed lunch in the open air.

It’s in this beautiful environment where chef Xavier Lahuerta proposes a lunch menu with local natural ingredients, balanced and Mediterranean.

Likewise, the orange trees courtyard is a unique setting for small private events surrounded by ancient Barcino history. The Mercer Barcelona team will help you make the most of your celebration for you to enjoy an exclusive experience.

Le Bouchon
Fancy a cocktail at Le Bouchon? A glass of wine or cava? Accompany them with traditional tapas, platters to share and chef’s suggestions based on the finest local and seasonal productcs in a relaxed atmosphere.

Make the most of our kitchen service, whether to tuck into an appetiser, turn it into an informal meal or share a dinner with friends.

The gastrobar Le Bouchon, reachable from Carrer Lledó or through the Mercer Hotel, is a congenial bistro which reflects the most ‘scoundrel’ side of Mercer under the leadership of chef Xavier Lahuerta.

Cocktail Bar
Walls with over 2000 years of history embrace the intimate chic atmosphere of the Mercer cocktail bar. Wooden ceilings, minimalist furniture, a marble counter, soft lighting and good music. And a ceiling-high display which is a genuine treat for the senses.

Its menu is a painstaking proposition made under the classical standards of great mixology. Glamorous cocktails such as Dry Martini and Negroni share space with attractive proprietary options. It also features a selection of cavas and champagnes along with a variety of domestic and international wines.

A cocktail bar with a unique allure because of its stone walls and the skylight which endows the venue with its own atmosphere. Ideal for a quiet drink or kicking off a night out.

Terrace
Sunbathe and swim in the pool. Read the newspapers while snacking at the Roof Bar. Chill out on the hotel’s wonderful terrace. Admire the stunning views over the Gothic Quarter’s rooftops and the domes of the Cathedral and the basilica of Sant Just i Pastor… These are other ways to enjoy the city.

Mercer Barcelona’s roof is an oasis above the bustling streets of the Gothic Quarter. An intimate and quiet place, ideal for getting away from things and completely unwinding under the city’s sky.

When night falls, the terrace is transformed to create a romantic atmosphere. Sharing a drink while the day takes its leave and enjoying the wonderful light of Barcelona at sunset is also a way of enjoying the city.
