Tucked away in a quiet corner of Dolphin Bay, Ahilya by the Sea is a serene and private escape. The property’s nine tastefully decorated and welcoming rooms are spread across three independent villas and enjoy two beautiful swimming pools.

Ahilya by the Sea is the sister property of the renowned Ahilya Fort in Central India, and we carry forward the same philosophy of hospitality: the feeling of a staying in a family home, surrounded by understated elegance, enjoying the finer things in life.

Our Sunrise infinity pool is perfect for a few morning laps or to simply drift about in the afternoon. The Sunset plunge pool is ideal for a leisurely dip in the shade of coconut palms, surrounded by pink and white frangipani. Relax and rejuvenate with a wide variety of massages and therapies at our wellness centre, located on the first floor of Arjun’s Tree Tower.

The Ahilya Experience is known for its excellent cuisine. We offer an a la carte menu with elements of Goan, Italian, and French cuisines and a daily prix-fixe which highlights the fresh catch of the day. We use only the freshest ingredients from local markets, and dining is al fresco at a new spot every night.

Take a morning stroll through our gardens, created and lovingly landscaped by the owner, and enjoy the wide variety of exotic tropical plants and flowers. Ahilya by the Sea is rich in its personal collection of art and sculpture, handpicked by the owner herself on her many travels around the world.

Sunset Villa
Sunset Villa offers four charming, individually decorated bedrooms and a large common living area. In our Rainha category we have Florentina, while Sanyasi, Fakir, and Nascente are of the Princesa category. The villa also features a common living room and verandah for playing board games, finishing that great novel, or tucking into an evening libation (or two!).

Florentina
One of our Rainha category of rooms, Florentina has spacious and light filled interiors accented with stunning laterite arches and large windows looking out over Dolphin Bay.

Nascente
This charming Princesa category room offers a private and spacious sit-out terrace as well as its own step-out balcony overlooking the ocean.

Sanyasi
Sanyasi is an ideal room to retire to at the end of a long day. French windows open on to a balcony that stretches the length of this room, bringing in the ocean breeze and setting sun. Please note, the room’s private bathroom is across a small corridor.

Fakir
Located on the first floor of Sunset Villa, Fakir has its own private balcony which overlooks the endless sea on one side and our Sunset plunge pool on the other.

Living Room
Named after the expansive sunset views this room enjoys, the Sunset living room is where the villa’s guests come together for a game of scrabble and a campari orange.Arjun’s Tree House

Arjun Tree House
Arjun’s Tree House is perched on the second floor of our tree tower, nestled away in the branches of a 200 year old banyan tree. The room’s cozy proportions and tree top terrace make it perfect for the solo traveller or a couple’s getaway.

Experiences
Spend a day out on the beaches of North Goa. Our favourite beaches are the less crowded Morjim, Ashvem and Mandrem; here the sea is calm and the beaches are not too rocky.

The shore is lined with little cafes, shacks, and restaurants so you can spend an entire day enjoying the Goan sun, sand and sea. The beaches of Morjim, Mandrem and Ashvem are a fifty minute drive from the hotel.

Go out to sea with our boatman from the neighboring fishing village of Nerul. Cast a line in Dolphin bay or sail up the Sinquerim River and try your hand at some crab catching. Don’t worry, we’ll provide the rods!

One of the best examples of baroque architecture in India, the Basilica of Bom Jesus is a UNESCO World Heritage site and also houses to the remains of St. Francis Xavier of Assisi. You can take a tour of this 16th century church along with other churches in Old Goa. The church is located 50 minutes away from the hotel.

Referred to as the Rembrandt of the East, Antonio Xavier Trindade is very close to our heart as he is also the grandfather of the hotel’s owner! Visit the Funde Çao Oriente museum, located 30 minutes from the hotel, for a guided tour of A.X. Trindade’s works.

About a half hour drive from the hotel is the historic Portuguese area of Fontainhas, famous for winding streets and colonial architecture. Take an architectural walk through the area and visit the fountain at the foot of the Altinho Hills after which the area is named

Take in the morning sea breeze and enjoy a 25-minute stroll along the seaside toward the Reis Magos Fort, which dates back to 1551. The Fort was originally used to accommodate dignitaries on their way to or from Lisbon. Explore the beautiful colonial architecture and visit the Reis Magos Church, the first church in Bardez.
