THE HISTORY
Our family has been a passionate host for over 50 years. With love to detail and many visions for the future, we succeeded to create a resort and a 4-star superior hotel in South Tyrol where tradition and modernity merge in perfect harmony.

Our work is characterized by solid, long-term values where guest is always the focus. We assume great responsibility towards our employees and our unique natural landscape through our actions. We put our passion and our whole heart into the AMONTI & LUNARIS Wellness Resort, and our major motivation is to delight our guests.

NIEDERLINDERHOF
Everything has a beginning. Our Wellness Resort AMONTI & LUNARIS also had its origins in a small farm at the village entrance of Steinhaus.

The “Niederlinderhof” was the home of Johann Steger, today’s Senior Director. Ahrntal was a poor mountain farm valley, and Johann Steger – like many others – had to go to Switzerland for woodworking to lend a helping hand to his family. In Gstaad, Johann Steger saw that one could have a lot of success with ski tourism.

1964 GÄSTEHAUS LINDERHOF
The “Linderhof” guest house was built as an addition to Niederlinderhof in 1964. The first guests welcomed by the Steger family were “summer visitors”. In winter, they mostly accommodated groups of skiers. Hilda Forer and Johann Steger married in 1966. Only then, the food was cooked perfectly for every guest as Hilda was a skilled cook.

1968 PENSION LINDERHOF
The guest house was extended in 1968 when six more room were added to the existing ones. As a result, the hotel was able to accommodate up to 50 people.

In addition, a dining room was built on the ground floor. In 1972, together with his companions from the valley Johann Steger built the cableway Klausberg Seilbahn AG, which made winter tourism in Ahrntal Valley possible, and as a result many skiers and winter sports enthusiasts finally discovered the Ahrntal

1977 SPORTHOTEL LINDERHOF
Sport Hotel Linderhof, which was the first 3-star hotel in the Ahrntal Valley, was built in 1977. The existing guest house also continued operating. It was then possible to offer a year-round job to many Ahrntal residents during the summer and winter seasons, and thereby stop the migration into the valley.

1998 HOTEL ALPENSCHLÖSSL AHRNTAL
The new Hotel Alpenschlössl, which set new standards in the wellness sector, was built in 1998 in place of the old guest house and became the leading company in the Ahrntal Valley.

2000 HOTEL LINDERHOF AHRNTAL
Soon, in the year 2000, Linderhof was remodelled by Siegfried and Helmut and at the same time – united with Amonti – turned into a unique wellness resort. Now, the entire responsibility was transferred to the sons.

2014 SPA LODGE
A new milestone was set in 2014 when the previous wellness area was tripled to over 3000 m²! New suites, oases of relaxation, shops, new buffet areas, sun terraces, gym, children’s clubs with year-round care, Sky Lounge with panorama sauna, 7 different swimming pools and much, much more offer a unique experience for our guests!

2016 AMBIENTE
on the wishes of our guests in spring 2016 has been made another modification. There were created new rooms and suites in the LUNARIS and a new, 1.500m² large outdoor kids fun park for children. At the AMONTI there has been realized new “stuben”, a new panoramic restaurant and a large buffet area.

2018 AMONTI & LUNARIS
The new AMONTI & LUNARIS Wellnessresort opened its doors on 28 July 2018. Preparations for the major renovation of both buildings have been under way for two years. Plenty of creativity, expertise and attention to detail have been poured into the designing, planning and discussion process, and work began on 9 April 2018.

Needless to say, there will be plenty more of the usual A&L quality, excellent service, family-friendly atmosphere, gourmet cuisine for foodies and that one-of-a-kind A&L feeling!

DINING
Mediterranean, rustic & cosmopolitan delights: The combination at our gourmet hotel in South Tyrol is truly thrilling. The chefs (Günther Niederkofler at the AMONTI & Matthias Kirchler at the LUNARIS) look at traditional South Tyrolean meals from the new, refined point of view.

Supplemented with light and healthy Mediterranean cuisine, these dishes show how wide their spectrum really is. In the new gourmet restaurant LUNARIS 1964, Matthias Kirchler sets 12-course fine-dining highlights.

Matthias Kirchler has been a passionate chef for many years. His mission is to fuse tradition and modern cuisine by combining special ingredients from around the world with fine dining using the best local, seasonal produce.

He has joined forces with the Steger family at the new A&L Wellness Resort to pair the current foodie highlights with his most exclusive gourmet concept yet, with generous helpings of passion and devotion. Modernity meets tradition. A theme that resonates throughout the resort, not just the restaurant. The setting: a refurbished cosy parlour with modern details.

The name: a symbiosis of past and present – the Steger family entered the restaurant business in 1964, while LUNARIS has been the hotel’s new name since it reopened following a major renovation in July 2018.

SKI HOTEL IN SOUTH TYROL
At our ski hotel in South Tyrol, the many winter activities are already part of the holiday. Ski rental, ski school, toboggan run, ski kindergarten, cross-country skiing trails, ice rink and curling sheet are just 50 m away.

The 8-person gondola lift K2 takes you up on 2,510 metres… As high as nowhere else in South Tyrol. Thanks to the unique location of the AMONTI & LUNARIS Wellness Resort directly opposite the valley station, our guests can enjoy an unlimited flexibility.

Whoever doesn’t start with winter sports until noon is welcomed by freshly groomed slopes – the “White Carpet” for all afternoon skiers – on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays at the Durreck slope starting from 1:00 PM

SLEDDING FUN DURING YOUR WINTER HOLIDAY
Sled through the snow like a maniac! Get started at the natural toboggan run in Weißenbach, the toboggan run in Kasern & at the Schwarzbachalm near the Innerbach parking lot.

The longest tracks are in Speikboden-Weißenbach (7 km) & at the Weizgruberalm (3 km). We recommend: night-time sledding at the Kristallalm every Tuesday (5 km).

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING: SKI INTO THE HOLIDAY
The Ahrntal Valley offers about 60 km of cross-country skiing trails, and for those who wants to go even longer: the valley is part of the DolomitiNordicSki (DNS), Europe’s largest cross-country ski carousel with 1,000 km of trails.

Avid cross-country skiers will find small circuits as well as sophisticated panoramic tracks in the track network, the most beautiful of which are located in Kasern and Rein.

ATTRACTIONS

MINING MUSEUM KORNKASTEN/ STEINHAUS
The so-called granary in the Stone House used to be the food storage for the Ahrntal mine. Even today, the reddish color of the building’s facade reminds us of copper mining.

Today, the granary is an ideal addition to a visit to the exhibition mine in Prettau and, in addition to the history of Ahrntal copper mining, tells a great deal about the living conditions, customs, special privileges, etc. of the miners of that time.

SPEIKBODEN CLIMBING PARK
10 meters high or 25 meters high? In the Drittsond climbing park at Speikboden, you will find about 40 routes in classes 5a to 8c. And then there are views of the majestic three-thousand-meter peaks of the Rieserferner Group.

The parking lot of the climbing garden is located shortly before the Speikboden valley station in Sand in Taufers. Combine the climbing park with another experience: the Fly-Line at the Reinbach waterfalls in Sand in Taufers. Float down 850 meters between the trees in a controlled manner.

The starting point is the Waterfall trail located 100 m after the Gasthof Toblhof. After the five-minute fly-line ride you will reach the starting point in about 30 minutes. More information

LAKE BRAIES
Lake Braies is a true natural paradise in the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park. The 1.2-kilometer-long, legendary mountain lake at an altitude of 1.469 meters is said to have once offered access to the underworld.

In summer, Lake Braies can be reached by shuttle bus or bus from Schmieden from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Outside this time you can also reach the Lake by car via the road from Schmieden.

Of course, a visit to Lake Braies can also be combined with a hike, e.g. you can reach the probably most beautiful mountain lake of South Tyrol on the hiking trail no. 1 from Schmieden in approx. 1.5 h. Rowboats can be hired at Lake Braies from June to September.

THREE PEAKS
The striking rock formations of the Three Peaks are the landmark of the Dolomite mountains and, together with other Dolomite peaks, are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Große Zinne stretches up to 2,999 meters, the Westliche Zinne 2,973 meters and even the Small Zinne has an impressive 2,857 meters. In summer you can reach the Three Peaks from Misurina via a toll road that leads to the Auronzo Hut (Refugio Auronzo) at 2,333 meters.

There you can walk around the mountain massif on a 10 km long tour: from the Auronzo lodge via the Lavaredo lodge to the Paternsattel and up to the Dreizinnen hut.

Then to the large karst plateau of the Langenalpe with the beautiful merlons on the north side of the Drei Zinnen. On the west side of the monoliths, the route continues via the Forcella del Col de Mezo saddle back to the Auornzo hut. Plan to walk for 3.5 hours.

The entire splendor of the steep northern walls of the Three Peaks can be admired from afar from the Three Peaks View in the Höhlenstein Valley near Dobbiaco – about 16 kilometers by car from the Auronzo lodge. Tip for families: the Three Peaks Nature Park House in Dobbiaco.
