The Antico Borgo di Tabiano Castello is a Relais de Charme inside an ancient settlement with a castle nestled among the green hills of the province of Parma. The Tabiano Castle dates back form the XI century and was built on the ruins of an old Roman settlement.

Large rooms in the fortified part of the village and in the old stone and brick rural houses, offer all modern comforts. Each residence is furnished and decorated with antique furniture, tapestries, hand-painted ceramics, terracotta floors or antique tiles.

The Hotel has two wellness centers; one located in a natural cave and the other in a house in the woods in the secret garden under the walls. Both are equipped with turkish bath, jacuzzi, sauna, sensory shower and relaxation area.

The restaurant is located in the old dairy and cheese factory. Until a few years ago it has produced the king of cheeses for more than 200 years. The premises date back to the eighteenth century and have been adapted to the most modern techniques of late XIXs.

The fortified complex of the village and the castle of Tabiano, immersed in the calm and green of the first hills of the Emilia Apennines, but close to the main communication routes in the North, are ideal places to organize congresses, meetings and incentives.

THE VILLAGE
The “Antico Borgo di Tabiano Castello” is a Relais de Charme inside an ancient settlement with a castle nestled among the green hills of the province of Parma. The Tabiano Castle dates back form the XI century and was built on the ruins of an old Roman settlement.

It was the military stronghold of the Pallavicino family, one of the most powerful families of the era, which dominated this strategic area during the centuries of struggle between the Imperial and Vatican forces.

The Tabiano Castle has been at the center of many historic events and presides over the rich salt wells, the olive groves and the old pilgrim road to Rome; The Via Francigena. What was a fortress for defense and agricultural, it has being transformed into a Relais de Charme.

Thanks to a painstaking restoration of the owners it has preserved the authenticity and charm, but with all the comforts of the present; with great attention to respect for history, environmental sustainability and the links with the territory.

Here electricity and hot water are solar panels and heating by the cleanliness of our forests, using wood-fired boilers and stoves recovering from antique fireplaces.

Vegetables and seasonal fruits and herbs, used in our restaurant “The Old Dairy”, are grown in the garden and in the orchard that you can visit. The main ingredients of homemade cakes offered at breakfast arehome-made jam and eggs from our chicken coop. Much of the food comes from local producers selected.

The staff is at your disposal to make you enjoy moments of relaxation and pleasure in this beautiful Italian countryside, discovering the many cultural and gastronomic treasures of Emilia.

The whole of the village and the castle of Tabiano and the farm and the surrounding houses, form a unique exclusive in all of Emilia Romagna where you can organize conferences or ceremonies. Altogether, the village and hamlets, can offer accommodation to 180 guests in case of weddings or other events.

Availability of meeting rooms in beautiful historic buildings over 700 square meters to the village and another 600 square meters at the Castle, also makes it possible to host events and meetings, also at the same time, with the participation of over 900 people, not counting the large spaces outdoor terraces, courtyard and parks.

Large rooms in the fortified part of the village and in the old stone and brick rural houses, offer all modern comforts. Each residence is furnished and decorated with antique furniture, tapestries, hand-painted ceramics, terracotta floors or antique tiles. The rooms are equipped with air conditioning, flat screen TV, high speed internet and a minibar.

Some superior rooms and junior suites have a rustic feel with antique tub or whirlpool room and original fireplace. Some suites and junior suites have a kitchenette and the possibility of additional beds.

The apartments for 4/6 people have fully equipped kitchens and living room. From all the rooms there is an exceptional view of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, the plains to the Alps, towers and surrounding walls, olive trees and the large park.

JUNIOR SUITE
35 square meters, overlooking the garden, old village streets or castle. Extra beds or baby bed on request. Bedroom with private bathroom with shower or tub. Perfectly formed with space to work and relax. Each room is different: double jacuzzi in the bedroom, fireplace, decorative antique tub in the bedroom, exposed ceiling beams and stone walls.

DELUXE ROOM
30 square meters, last floor with small windows, exposed ceiling beams and stone walls. The typical style of an historical dwellings is the distinctive mark of these rooms. Romantic and intimate, designed for double occupancy. Bedroom with private bathroom with shower. From 60 to 80 square meters. Panoramic position over the medieval village and the castle. Spacious interiors, cozy and charming, perfect for families or long stay. Sleeps 4 or 5 persons, one or two bathrooms with shower or tub, living room, kitchen or pantry kitchen.

L’ANTICO CASEIFICIO RESTAURANT
The restaurant is located in the old dairy and cheese factory. Until a few years ago it has produced the king of cheeses for more than 200 years. The premises date back to the eighteenth century and have been adapted to the most modern techniques of late XIXs.

It has always been the heart of the rural village, where every morning the milk produced in the surrounding countryside was transformed into butter and parmesan.

The carefully executed renovations of which have been the subject dairy and dairy have preserved all the original features, from the floors, the tiles, the windows painted blue to keep away the flies.

Inside are a series of photos and tools for the processing of milk illustrating the process of realization of Parmigiano Reggiano. The place where there was the butter has been transformed into the kitchen.
