It’s your very own Cotswold playground and it’s where it all started. We’re rooted in our Cotswolds home and we’re here to stay. And we hope you’ll stay too… in fact, we insist.

Surrounded by idyllic Cotswolds countryside, you’ll find us just four miles outside the market town of Tetbury. Whether you’re travelling by car or train, Calcot & Spa is easy to get to and just 90 minutes from London, making us the perfect countryside retreat.

Driving? It’s simple to reach us from the M4 (J18) and the M5 (J13). If you’re following your sat nav then, use the postcode GL8 8YJ. You can also hop on a direct train from London Paddington and be at Kemble Station (11 miles from Calcot) in just 90 minutes. The train from London Heathrow takes just 90 minutes.

Back to our roots…
Our flagship hotel, Calcot & Spa is where it all began. Calcot first opened its doors as a luxury hotel in 1984 but the building itself can trace its history back over 700 years – you can still see the original date stone in the tithe barn— now our stunning gathering and event space, The Barn at Calcot.

Built by Henry of Kingswood in the 1300’s as the tithe barn annexe of Kingswood Abbey, Calcot belonged to the church until the 16th century when King Henry VIII dissolved England’s monasteries and gave the estate to one of his courtiers.

Calcot has remained in private ownership ever since, belonging to the Estcourt family for several centuries and expanded to include a 16th-century manor house and several outbuildings.

Now fully restored, the estate is the flagship hotel of The Calcot Collection, a small, eclectic group of award-winning luxury hotels, inns, restaurants and spas.

The Tetbury is just the place for a special family break. There’s tons of space to relax after a full day of Cotswold adventures.

In our biggest suite, you can all laze around in the lovely, laid-back lounge, sleep soundly in one of two bedrooms… and luxuriate in your stunning, spacious bathroom. With everything you could need for a stand-out stay, you might not want to go home!

Family Rooms 
Our two Family Rooms come with a generous space for up to two small guests to sleep soundly in the same room as the grown-ups on mini beds. Our sumptuous bathrooms are perfect for bath time bubbles, with one room featuring a large bath only (great for the little ones) and the other including a bath and walk in shower.

Cosily sleeping a family of four, these are ideal for a fun getaway. We also have kids’ tea available in our restaurants for families who want to dine with us.

Fun and games
Our Ofsted-registered (and high scoring) purpose-built crèche, The Playbarn, is for the younger ones. With plenty of toys, arts and crafts equipment, it’s a fun environment for kids to play in while you take it in turns to relax and have some time to yourselves.

We ask one grown up to stay with each child in The Playbarn to ensure social distancing is observed to keep everyone safe and relaxed. For the older kids (aged eight and over), The Mez is an Aladdin’s cave with PlayStations, Wii consoles, Xboxes, computers and even a 12-seater cinema. They’ll have so much you’ll have to drag them away!

Fresh air fun!
Welcome to Calcot & Spa… your very own Cotswold playground where you can enjoy muddy madness with wayward kids! We’ve lots of fun ways to burn up all that excess energy…

You can play tennis, have go at disc golf, borrow some bikes or simply head off on foot. There’s plenty of room for outdoor mischief, so come and romp around in our 220-acre backyard… or beyond!

Polo and equestrian
OKL Polo & Equestrian is a 5* rated licensed polo and riding school based in the pretty Cotswold village of Westonbirt. OKL delivers top tier instruction all year round for beginners to advanced riders.

They work closely with several local independent schools and have taken children from their first experience on horseback right through to national and international competition. All children are welcome! Speak to our reception team for more information or to book a horse riding experience.

Fun, games and activities
During the school holidays, our Playbarn team run a timetable of fun activities for our smaller guests. From roaming around our 220-acre backyard on scavenger hunts to making a mess with our arts and crafts activities, they will have a great time.

We ask that a grown up stays with each child to join in the fun and help keep social distancing measures in place for all…
