The Bagnod family welcomes you to Cella Grande, a former Benedictine convent of the 12th century, now a meeting place for all lovers of good wine, overlooking Lago di Viverone.

In this place rich in history, tradition and flavors you can taste our Erbaluce DOC, taste the products of our farm and spend a wonderful relaxing stay. CellaGrande is also a location that hosts events and business meetings, ideal for who is looking for a charming environment surrounded by nature.

Among the gentle Canavese hills dotted with rows of vines overlooking Lake Viverone stands CellaGrande, an ancient Benedictine monastery whose name derives from the oldest part of the structure called “Cella di San Michele” a votive chapel built between the 11th and 12th centuries of which part of the original Romanesque structure and the stone bell tower are preserved.

In the cellars of the monastery, completely renovated and equipped with modern technologies, the grapes are conveyed and processed at low temperatures.

The production is mainly concentrated on white wines with Erbaluce di Caluso docg denomination, without forgetting native grapes such as Nebbiolo and Barbera which allow us to produce a small quantity of red wine.

The history of the structure, its unique charm and the magnificent panoramic position on the lake have led to the creation of 9 rooms equipped with every comfort to allow guests to enjoy the best of this corner of Piedmont accompanied by the rich Canavese food and wine tradition and the specialties of the Bagnod family.

ROOMS & SUITES
The history of the estate, its unique charm and the stunning panoramic location overlooking the lake allow our guests to enjoy this beautiful spot in Piedmont to the fullest. CellaGrande provides 9 different rooms provided with all kind of comfort.

Each room is equipped with a private bathroom with hair-dryer, air conditioning, flat-screen tv, wardrobe, mini-bar and tea area. Linen service and complimentary toiletries are at our guest’s disposal.

Free Wi-Fi network is available indoor and outdoor. The rooms are located on the first floor, accessible via external stairs or internal elevator. Cots for infants can be arranged in every room. An outdoor private parking and an indoor bikes deposal are available for free.

Pets are not allowed. All the rooms are no-smoking environments; it is possible to smoke in the outside spaces, balconies and terraces. A bicycle rental service is available at CellaGrande. It is possible to rent for a fee mountain-bikes and E-bikes upon request and availability.

The catering service is at complete disposal to ensure a refined culinary offer. Our accommodation features newly renovated, comfortable and well-furnished rooms. CellaGrande also offers wine and cheese tasting in the old part of the monastic establishment.

WINE ESTATE
A precious asset, fruit of our territory. The wines of CellaGrande change and transform themselves from 2020, thanks to the intervention of the expert Oenologist Donato Lanati, who through his skills has made it possible to obtain products of the highest level.

A new Brand Identity that starts from wine, but also from the graphic revolution in terms of bottles and labels … a packaging that will amaze you.

The production of Erbaluce wine from Caluso DOCG is the strength of Cellagrande. Since the beginning, the warm and amber colors of its grapes have conquered us and prompted us to embark on a valorization path of this autochthonous grape with incredible ductility, still little known within the Italian winemaking reality.

THE CELLAR
We produce wine according to tradition. Our winery, built inside a former Benedictine convent of the thirteenth century, has been recently renovated and equipped with new facilities for winemaking; ideal place for food and wine tours guided by experts or just to sip a glass of wine in good company.

THE WINES
Thanks to a careful selection of grapes, with moderate yields and controlled temperature fermentation, we guarantee high quality wines ranging from Erbaluce-based whites to structured reds of the Canavese heroic viticulture.

Erbaluce di Caluso DOCG, unique in its kind, can be processed in three different ways from which it is possible to obtain white wine, sweet dessert wine and sparkling wines.

The latter can be differentiated into simple sparkling wines, such as the Charmat Method, and more “technical” sparkling wines, such as our Metodo Classico, of which we have kept 60 thousand bottles since 2004, creating a precious reserve for CellaGrande and for this territory.

Novelty of 2020, but obtained from the ’17 harvest, is the Carema DOC; a wine of great structure based on Nebbiolo Picutener, a native grape variety of the mountain areas of the homonymous village that extends to the borders of Piedmont with Valle d’Aosta.
