The bedroom and sitting area opens up onto the expansive decks, and can be closed off with large glass sliding doors for those guests wishing to use the air-conditioning. Just off the bedroom are doors that open to an additional, small, mini-deck.

The bathroom of the Over-the-Water Fale features a very unique design, and embraces the open-air bathrooms that have been made famous by Coconuts. Open to the expansive deck with sliding glass doors, the bathroom features and opaque ceiling, bathing the room in natural light.

The double vanity is set next to the sunken tub, that features a waterfall shower. These architecturally-designed Over-the-Water Fales are unlike any accommodation anywhere in the world. Private. Romance. Relaxation. Luxury.

The split-level design really shows off the exposed beam ceilings and the 180-degree views. Beautiful quartzite stone tiles and finely crafted lava rock walls complete the design. The two flanking Villas each total over 600 square feet of spacious island living.

A large bedroom with walk-in closet features a king size bed, and opens to a comfortable sitting room and a writing alcove. The large open-air style bathroom comes complete with Coconuts’ famous lava rock ‘waterfall’ shower.

This second story is a wonderful spot to take in the amazing views, relax with a cocktail, and may even be set up as a separate bedroom.

These Villas, while private, may be booked individually or as an entire suite of Villas. The Villas are perfect for guests seeking luxurious and spacious accommodation, and are ideal for families or larger groups. This is the ultimate in Samoan style and luxury!

Surf Samoa
Surf’s Up at Coconuts Beach Club Resort & Spa! Coconuts has a small but notable history of surfing visitors, who ventured to Samoa to take advantage of the great waves and total lack of competition to enjoy them.

Surfing Nuts!
In the past years, several “surfing camps” have opened in Samoa, but those who prefer a bit more upscale comfort, things like air conditioning and an excellent ala carte menu; like our pool for spouses or traveling partners to enjoy and tap water that’s safe to drink, tend to gravitate to Coconuts.

Our laid back atmosphere suits them perfectly, our location is, quite frankly, incomparable and, when everything is considered, our rates can be just about the same. Much of the surf in Samoa tends to be reef break, and many of the breaks must be accessed by boat (or very long paddles).

To help you find your way to and around the waves, Coconuts can arrange for surf guiding. The guides we use have their own boats, are top flight surfers themselves, and know what’s happening where and when. Contact us for more details!

Them’s the Breaks!
There are several great breaks within paddling distance of the hotel and even more a short boat ride away. Directly in front of the hotel, about 300 meters out, is a very nice right aptly named…”Coconuts”! Further west along the edge of our turquoise lagoon are two or three other breaks.

One, named “Catapult” after one of the favorite (and most potent) of Mika’s tropical cocktails, is a thick and mean right; another, called Tafitoala, is a popular left. Heading east down the beach from Coconuts are at least two more breaks, including a left called Siumu, lying offshore from the village of the same name.

This is a good paddle from the beach, out a reef cut with a strong, outgoing current. A short boat ride further east down the coast, off of the Aganoa black sand beach, are two more great breaks, a left and a right. Both of these are an easy paddle from the beach if you choose to approach by car.

The left, called Boulders, is one of the most popular in Samoa. Of course, in Samoa, that sort of popularity only means that you might see someone else out there once every odd Saturday!

Aganoa beach is also a great, sandy bottomed swimming beach, with beautiful snorkeling reefs on each side of it’s small bay and virtually no currents. Naturally, elsewhere on the island, there are dozens of other known breaks, and probably just as many undiscovered or “secret” ones.

Most of these are accessible by car and besides being great rides, are set in spectacular surroundings. Check out Tiavea, a tiny village on the northeast corner of the island, a half hour drive from the main road down a rough dirt track, in a beautiful little bay.

Big Waves, Big Names
Every Year Samoa gets it’s fair share of “big name” visitors from the world of professional surfing, and a number of them have stayed at Coconuts. In the past years our list of notable surfing guests includes names like Bethany Hamilton, Chris Lassen, Sonny Garcia, Aaron Loyo, Brian Jennings, Serena Brooke and Jon Rose.

In addition, we have hosted Perry Farrell and Roger Leonard from “Porno for Pyros”, their sound man Russel Toi, famous surfing photographer Aaron Chang and other such notables as Peter Destephano, Matt Archibold, James Brisick, Strider Wasilewski and Shawn Briley.

Weddings
There could be few places on earth as romantic and unique as Samoa for that special wedding day. Come and join our small family at Coconuts, for the most important celebration of a lifetime. Our experienced Wedding Planners take all the work and effort out of your wedding.

We do the work for you! Where else in the world can you go hiking to a waterfall in the morning, snorkeling in the afternoon, and get married at sunset? There is a reason you want to get married in Samoa, and our experienced, dedicated team is here to make your dream Samoa wedding a reality.

The Samoan Experience

Immerse yourself in the fa’asamoa, the true Samoan culture, one of the most unique ways to celebrate your once-in-a-lifetime day. You will each be ‘adopted’ by two separate Samoan families, and treated as if you are one of their own relatives. The bride will be fully dressed in a traditional style.

The groom will have his own lavalava sewn for him, accompanied by a shell ula (lei). The traditional Samoan wedding begins with the blowing of conch shells, and a procession by the groom and his family to the site of the wedding, singing Samoan songs.

A dramatic entry by the bride and her family is accompanied by the singing of traditional songs. After brief speeches by the Tulafale, or talking chiefs representing each family, the Coconuts String Band plays softly in the background while the village Reverend performs the ceremony.

After the ceremony, a Samoan-style reception follows, with the presentation of traditional gifts between the families for the bride and groom, a fiafia (performance of Samoan song and dance), dinner, a cake and a bottle of champagne. This is an absolutely unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience, plunging you into the heart of the true Polynesian culture of Samoa.

To record this exceptional event, the Samoan Experience includes a photographer (wedding album with 64 photos including 4 enlargements, and DVD) and a videographer (professionally filmed and edited video tape with musical accompaniment of entire ceremony).

Location
Coconuts is located on the southern sunshine coast of Upolu, the main island of Samoa.

Your Coconuts Experience begins the moment you arrive at the airport. The Faleolo Airport (airport code APW) is approximately 20 miles outside of the main city of Apia. Coconuts is located 25 miles (or 45 minutes) from the airport.

There is no charge for our transfers between the airport or hotels, and the Resort, as they are included when you stay 5 or more consecutive nights. A Coconuts representative will meet you at the airport – no matter what time your flight arrives.
