THE HISTORY
The thermal baths of Bad Kleinkirchheim were already known as a healing spring in the Middle Ages. People made pilgrimages from near and far to St. Kathrein Kircherl, where the healing spring rises.

The “Badwirt”, as the Ronacher was called earlier, has always been associated with the church and thus also with the medicinal water. The history of the thermal baths in Bad Kleinkirchheim: closely linked to Ronacher In 1908 the Kurhaus was acquired by Elise and Hans Ronacher, renovated, expanded and reopened in 1911 with 50 beds after various “KK Licenses and Powers” had been issued.

In 1922 the “Kärntner Tagespost” reported that after an interruption due to the war, the “world-famous thermal baths with dancing, good cuisine and cheap prices” could be reopened by Frieda and Alberta Ronacher.

In 1963 Günther Ronacher joins the business and expands it to 80 beds plus parlor. 1969 the merger with the “Alten Post” takes place, the new building of the reception, restaurant, bar and an extension to 120 beds.

In 1970 the large indoor thermal pool with the therapy department was built and the Ronacher was officially classified as a 5-star hotel and in 1976 the house had 160 beds.

In 1991 Markus Ronacher took over the family empire from his parents Günther and Helga Ronacher. In 2001 the Ronacher thermal and wellness world was rebuilt: five thermal baths , a sauna village , a quiet and meditation house and the ” Wintergarten” restaurant were built .

2002: Two hotel fanatics come together. Simone Maier, the daughter of Dietmar and Johanna Maier, the 4-toque cook from Filzmoos, and Markus Ronacher, the son of the house. The wedding will be celebrated on July 20th, 2002. Daughter Sophie Ronacher was born in December 2002.

2003/04: Simone Ronacher takes over the management of the “Hotel Ronacher” and Markus Ronacher of the Hotel “Die Post”. In March both were named “Hoteliers of the Year” by Bertelsmann Verlag.

2009: 100 YEARS OF RONACHER – Federal President Dr. Heinz Fischer, valued and loyal guest of the Ronacher and Carinthia lover, gives the laudation at the celebrations.

2011: The gourmet shop and in-house manufacture are established – awarded the “Golden Tea Leaf” from Gault Millau. And … Marie Ronacher, the youngest member of the family will be born in January.

2011: The KULTUR GAST SPIELE are held for the first time. Stars from the stage, film and television meet on the small, fine Ronacher festival stage. 2012: We are very pleased that we have been recognized as the first and only 5-star superior hotel in Carinthia through a mystery check.

In 2013 the Ronacher received the highest award that is given in the hotel industry for a hotel and for service: the ” 5 Star Diamond Award “. The Oscar of all hotel awards.
