Right here was signed the armistice of Cassibile, September 3, 1943, the agreement that changed the alliances of the Second World War.

MARUZZA SUITE
This suite is equipped with every comfort and furnished with taste and elegance, includes two separate rooms and two bathrooms and is perfect for those who want to spend their vacation in Sicily in a spacious, bright and luxurious estate.

One bedroom with double bed, walk-in closet and bathroom with shower and a second smaller bedroom with single bed, ensuite bathroom, TV, wardrobe and a private garden.

The vegetables and aromatic herbs used to create the restaurant’s “km0” cuisine are cultivated directly in the hotel’s garden and harvested by the Chef before using them. The restaurant offers a wine list with regional and local proposals as well as an excellent selection of Champagne.

The restaurant service is always available for breakfast, a light lunch or a break with snacks, drinks and herbal teas served at your choice at the pool, in the room or the private garden.

THE BOTANICAL GARDEN
The park of Donna Coraly is a precious jewel. Rare and peculiar plants such as “Buddha’s hand” and “citrus caviar” grow harmoniously near the quince, which is typical of Sicily,
and the more tropical mango and avocado trees, up to jujube, arbutus and pomegranate.

At the center of the park stands an ancient carob tree, a symbol of the Mediterranean and in particular of south-eastern Sicily, evoked by the poet Salvatore Quasimodo in a nostalgic poem about his land, when he says: “I have forgotten the sea, the serious shell blown by Sicilian shepherds, the chants of the carts along the roads where the carob tree trembles in the smoke of the stubble…”.

Next to it, we find the memorial stone in memory of the armistice that confirmed the surrender of the Italians in 1943, evidence of a history that is still alive, of which this estate was the protagonist.

The garden advances, then, among citrus and fruit trees that lead to the hortus conclusus, where vegetables and aromatic plants are cultivated to offer the guests of the resort fresh and organic products.

THE GARDEN

There are many tropical specimens: palmaceae, succulent cactaceae that coexist with fruit trees, olive trees, citrus and decorative plants, such as Jacarande and Bahuiniae Purpuree, interspersed with pergolas of roses and jasmine that give fragrance to the air.

THE HEATED BIO LAKE
Relaxation and nature by the pool The hotel’s swimming pool is heated and sanitized with the “salts of life”. These are mineral salts and oligo-elements that, dissolved in the water, reproduce the healthy qualities of thermal waters, bringing considerable benefits.

The organic vegetable garden is located in a perfect position for the cultivation of tasty and vitaminic vegetables and delicate aromatic herbs typical of the Mediterranean and Sicily. The garden is open to guests: you can walk around it, being surprised by the scents and aromas of each plant.

DISCOVERING SYRACUSE
Walking through the charm and the myth of Magna Grecia. The island of Ortigia, the historical center of the city, represents the most ancient and suggestive part of Syracuse. In getting lost among the typical narrow streets of the place you will come across the remains of temples, squares, palaces and churches without forgetting the charm of the Jewish quarter.

The beautiful Piazza del Duomo with its jewel-like Cathedral, the Church of Santa Lucia which houses a painting by Caravaggio and the Fountain of Arethusa are some of the recommended unforgettable destinations. The archaeological park of Neapolis is an open-air museum that tells the story of the city from prehistoric times to the Byzantine period.

Here you can find the Greek Theatre, which is still the stage of extraordinary clas-sical representations during the months of May and June; the Roman Amphitheatre, the Orecchio di Dionisio (ancient prison for slaves) and the Latomie della Neapolis, that are stone quarries used to build the city.

SYRACUSE & ORTIGIA
Syracuse has very ancient origins. It was founded in 734 BC by the Corinthians and was considered the greatest Greek city of antiquity. A cultural center for people like Archimedes and Plato. Dominated by Romans, Byzantines and Arabs.

It was rebuilt after a violent earthquake in 1693, its late baroque style has incorporated in a perfectly harmonious way the remains of the Greek city creating a unique and fascinating combination.

SICILIAN BAROQUE CITIES
Noto, Ragusa, Modica and Scicli are Unesco World Heritage cities. Noto, Ragusa, Modica and Scicli which are amazing jewels of the Baroque, are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Rebuilt after the earthquake of 1693, precise image of the taste of an era; they were rebuilt in golden stone, which gives so much charm to the facades, in an imaginative game of a style enriched with ornaments and enigmatic esoteric symbols.

UNESCO HERITAGE CITY
In May, Noto, the capital of Baroque, becomes full of colors because of the “Infiorata”, one of the most beautiful folkloristic and artistic events of the island: the city is transformed into a flower garden. The Corrado Nicolaci street is covered by a carpet of flowers composed of 16 handmade patterns and respecting the theme of the year.
