GOLDEN GATES
The Golden Gate is a unique fortification monument with remains surviving to nowadays from Kyiv Rus times. The Golden Gate served as the upper town’s main gate in the city walls – it had a wide arc with a battle post on top of it with the bright white chapel right in centre.

ST. MICHAEL’S MONASTERY
St. Michael’s Monastery was destroyed in the Soviet era in 1935 and rebuilt in 1990 after Ukraine got its independence. The monastery now features a bell tower, mosaics, baroque icons and frescoes, and works of art that were created by local artists.

KYIV PECHERSK LAVRA
The real Spiritual Centre and the most famous monastery in Ukraine. Founded by monks in 8th century, lying on picturesque Dnieper hills, it became the holy site for all Orthodox Christians. It combines majestic churches; build in classical, Byzantine and Baroque style.

Annually, millions of tourists come here to see the caves, which from times of old to our days have been housing relics. HOUSE WITH CHIMAERAS
This remarkable building decorated with the fabulous figures of animals and chimaeras like as they were taken from the peaked roofs of Notre Dame de Paris can be easily called the most unusual building in Kyiv. It was constructed by the architect Gorodetskiy in 1903.

On the roof sit good-natured toads with Nereids, heads of rhinos and antelope are built into walls, drain pipes look like snakes and elephant trunks. Constructed on a steep slope the house astonishes by one more detail – from the front side it has only 3 floors and from back side it is all of 6! It is located 2 km from the Hotel.

MAIDAN NEZALEZHNOSTI
The primary city centre square. It received its current name in 1991 after Ukraine gained its independence. All national cultural and political events take place here. For years it’s the most visited place of city guests.
