DISCOVERING ROMAN CUISINE
In addition to being a journey between art and culture, a trip to Italy is necessarily a journey into taste. The Italian culinary tradition is undoubtedly one of the strengths of the Bel Paese. From North to South the proposals change and differ substantially from one city to another, allowing you to discover ever new flavors.

The current Roman cuisine is a cuisine that reflects the history of Rome by enclosing the most significant elements of a genuine and essential cuisine, made up of a few simple elements but with a strong character.

The city is full of restaurants but only a few are historical ones and where the inhabitants love to go for dinner. A few steps from the Hotel Amalfi is one of the most famous Trattorias in Rome, opened in 1916. You can enjoy typical Roman dishes at the right price, avoiding the famous “tourist traps” restaurants.

It is a very simple place where the main aspects are the ancient recipes and the value for money. The appreciation of the place by the customers makes the reservation highly recommended.

VISIT TO TIVOLI
Following the ancient Via Tiburtina for 30 Km. East of Rome, this tour allows you to visit and admire the two splendid villas, from two different eras. The Villa Adriana from the Roman period and the Villa D ‘Este from the Renaissance period.

At the foot of the Tiburtini hills, source of the waters that feed the spa town of Bagni di Tivoli and which are dominated by vast quarries of travertine marble, you will first stop to visit the ruins of Villa Adriana which can only hint at the grandeur and beauty of this Villa built by the emperor Hadrian to remind him of the monuments and sites he had admired during his travels in the East.

We then continue towards Villa D’Este, one of the most beautiful residences of the Renaissance. The Villa’s countless fountains, set in the heart of magnificent Italian-style gardens, create a delightful and graceful symphony of carved stone, shade, sunlight and water.

A DAY IN NAPLES AND POMPEII
A journey to discover art, history, folklore and archeology in one of the most typical regions of southern Italy. Leaving Rome heading south, we take the Autostrada del Sole which crosses the fertile Roman countryside through the Castelli Romani area.

About halfway down the highway, you will be able to see the Abbey of Montecassino, known for its famous battle and complete destruction during World War II. Going down towards the port of Mergellina and following the coast road, we arrive in the ancient fishing district of Santa Lucia and we see the imposing Castel dell’Ovo (photo stop).

The city tour continues through the historic center to see Piazza del Plebiscito, the Royal Palace, the Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, the San Carlo Theater, the Umberto I Gallery and the imposing Maschio Angioino.

Leaving the city, we cross the fertile valley of Vesuvius, passing through the villages of Herculaneum, Torre del Greco and Torre Annunziata before finally arriving in Pompeii, where we stop first for lunch. Next we will visit the excavations on foot with a local guide on an archaeological journey through the ancient city.

In ca. 2 hours you will see part of what has been discovered in more than 1,700 years since Pompeii was covered in ashes during the eruption of Vesuvius in the year 79 AD.

Through the remains and ruins of this ancient city, we can imagine the daily life of the imperial age and imagine the panic felt by the people in those last minutes before the city was so disastrously buried. At the end of the visit to Pompeii we will return to the coach for a journey of approx. 3 hours back to Rome.

During this excursion we will visit a coral and cameo factory where we will have the opportunity to admire and buy objects of this ancient craft that dates back to the Greek era.
