Cipriani gazes across the lagoon at St Mark’s Square, enjoying all the intimacy of our island perch. With Michelin-star dining and unrivalled views of Venice, this is indulgence that knows no bounds. By day, take in the poolside scene while enjoying a Bellini, an emblem of our refined rituals.

Or find calm in nature, as you wander through our sprawling private gardens. A serene home-from-home, our careful blend of relaxation and artistry is why our Venice hotel is a true legend.

Sporting 270-degree views out across the water, stay at Hotel Cipriani and enjoy vistas spanning the Doge’s Palace to the church of St Giorgio and the islands beyond. As one of the most celebrated luxury hotels in Venice, Italy, every inch of this iconic hideaway is guaranteed to enchant.

Exquisite antiques and local artifacts whisk you back in time, while Michelin-starred gastronomy, charming staff and the only Olympic-sized swimming pool in the city offer modern sophistication. The special air of romance is what sets us apart from the rest.

Our story began in 1956, when Giuseppe Cipriani decided to build a hotel for jet-setting travellers. His dream was to create a haven close to St Mark’s Square, yet away from the city bustle.

Just two years after the project began, glamorous guests were arriving in droves. Affluent Americans, French nobles, English aristocrats, European royalty, actors and artists from across the globe were drawn to the relaxing, private atmosphere and gorgeous rooms. More than 60 years on, and our slice of paradise continues to enchant.

A HOLLYWOOD HAVEN
Our historic guest book is a treasured item. Its yellowed pages are covered with drawings, dedications and words of thanks from stars such as Burt Reynolds, Candice Bergen, Gérard Depardieu and Cary Grant.

But it is the first entry, written in 1958 in a flourish of blue ink, that says it all. Iconic French actress Martine Carol’s message to Giuseppe Cipriani simply states: “I’ve travelled three times around the world, but this is where I want to stay.”

THE BIRTH OF THE BELLINI
Simple yet delicious, the peach purée and Prosecco cocktail that has become synonymous with Cipriani was invented by Giuseppe Cipriani at Harry’s Bar in 1948. Giuseppe, a barman at the time, had lent 10,000 lire to a struggling American student named Harry Pickering. When a much wealthier Harry returned, he presented his friend with four times the sum and suggested he set up his own bar.

Harry’s Bar opened in 1931, and swiftly became frequented by writers such as Ernest Hemingway, Truman Capote and Somerset Maugham. Giuseppe conjured up the Bellini when the sun was setting: the pinky golden hues inspired his world-famous cocktail. To this day, we prepare our Bellinis according to Mr Cipriani’s original recipe.

THE CIPRIANI FAMILY
At Cipriani, you can expect to meet Roberto Senigaglia, often the face you see on arrival at the hotel’s jetty. He has welcomed many stars during his 25 years at the hotel. He describes his “office” as “the best in the world.”

Or be regaled with stories by our private butlers. They’ve enjoyed amazing encounters over the years – like when Paul McCartney signed their guitars, or when Princess Diana sat on the bottom of a carpeted staircase and said: “home at last!”

Cip’s Club basks under radiant light, as boats sail serenely across the Venetian lagoon and white herons soar over the water. Luxuriate in our restaurant’s refined maritime setting, admiring the classic Ginori Doccia porcelain and Murano glassware that adorns the tables.

Come evening, our Venice restaurant is a great place to enjoy a sunset. Step onto our Fondamenta Terrace from 6.30pm and savour an aperitif. Soundtracked to the gentle rhythm of the sea, watch as shades of orange and red blaze across the horizon, giving way to an ethereal moonlit sky studded with stars.

ORO
Recently relaunched under Executive Chef Riccardo Canella, Oro has an ethereal energy that captures the spirit of Venice. Take a seat under the gold-leaf dome that gives the restaurant its name, designed by architect Adam D Tihany.

Fall under your therapist’s spell as expert massage techniques and signature therapies beautify and balance. Or reserve our ambient twin room to revive with someone special.

CASANOVA GARDEN RITUAL
This fragrant treatment begins with a geranium and lavender footbath. A refreshing floral water is then sprinkled over the body, priming it for an exfoliating massage. A salt and olive oil scrub, helps purify the skin and stimulate the lymphatic system. Finally, we apply soothing shea butter, myrtle and rosemary essential oils over the body.

THE LEGENDARY SWIMMING POOL
Our magnificent, Olympic-sized pool is one of the finest in Europe — and the only one in central Venice. The social hub of Hotel Cipriani, it is fully heated and filtered with seawater.

When originally installed, an architectural mix-up between feet and metres resulted in an unusually large pool. Our happy mistake is now one of the most exclusive meeting places in Venice.

Whether looking for fresh towels and cool drinks or light dishes from the pool menu, our team of pool assistants are on hand. Open between 9am-7pm. Available for children ages 4 and up (children under 8 must have parental supervision). Please be mindful towards other guests while using the pool.

CASANOVA GARDENS
In spring, our vegetable garden blooms with artichoke flowers. But it’s at the end of our gardens that you’ll find a real rarity: our historic vineyard, one of the few in Venice. Here we grow Vite Dorona, a white grape variety that blooms colorful leaves come autumn.

Named for the famed author who once wooed his lovers in this very spot, the Casanova Gardens are still rich with romance today. Feel the mythic pull of history with a loved one, or simply admire the beauty of nature away from the bustle of Venice.

ABOUT THE ART
‘Cooking the World’ was conceived as a propitious place for meetings, discussions and debates. Gathering around a table reflects a sense of family bonding and intimacy in sharing, a notion celebrated by the Cipriani.

In Cipriani’s gardens on Giudecca Island, where 18th century city dwellers would come to enjoy fresh air and Giacomo Casanova once wooed his lovers, join us in championing the notions of sharing and imparting cultural values. In this hidden away yet naturally beautiful meeting place, gather to celebrate contemporary and ancient customs alike.

ABOUT SUBODH GUPTA
One of the world’s most renowned Indian artists, Subodh Gupta was born in 1964 in Khagaul, Bihar. He is especially known to work with ubiquitous objects such as mass-produced steel utensils, found across household kitchens throughout India. The ordinary items, often used and well worn, are fashioned into sculptures that reflect the social and economic transformation of his homeland.

ABOUT MITICO AND GALLERIA CONTINUA
Considered one of the driving forces on the contemporary art scene, Galleria Continua creates a bridge between past and present with works from some of the world’s biggest and most exciting artists today.

Evoking a feeling of inclusivity and community, MITICO embodies a new art philosophy: it is the reinterpretation of universal customs shared amongst different societies, such as cooking, painting, observing, and appreciating, and how these are consumed in their environments. MITICO is a moment in time and history where cultures interact.
