Away from everyday life, at an altitude of 1,700 m, on the sunny plateau of the Arlberg, you experience complete freedom, dramatic panoramic views, car-free winters, calm and pure nature, surrounded by an attentive team who are there to take care of your needs.

The motto is: Your journey of self-discovery – “ME TREAT” at its finest. Why is it that guests staying at the Lifestyle Hotel Goldener Berg feel so great? There are many reasons. Oberlech is recognised as a place of energy. This is palpable, yet in a gentle way. You don’t need to see any statistics, you just need to see the faces of the visitors here.

There is plenty you can do for your own sense of well-being at the Goldener Berg, such as choosing from the various dietary options, detox treatments and health concepts.

SUSTAINABILITY
Mother Nature has always been close to my heart. As early as 2002, I installed solar equipment in the spa building to heat the water there.

The building has undergone complete thermal refurbishment and has been freed from radiation exposure, we buy organic and where possible also no plastic, we sleep on stone pine beds and in organic down bedding, drink reclaimed water and want to give the people who come to us something that they can take home with them and continue this path.

We want to profoundly move people. We want to guide them through their holiday, giving them everything they need during this time. For this purpose, there are great therapists to support people here.

ALPINE TRADITION
We love the mountains and are proud of all the healing remedies that are right on our doorstep. We focus on this – our herbs, stone pine, healing currents etc. while being vibrant, cheerful and cosmopolitan at the same time. People with many languages, colours and points of view bring a lot of diversity to the house, which makes us happy.

Everything we offer should be good for our guests. Organic juice from local farmers, organic wine from organic farms, organic mattresses for a healthy as well as comfortable sleep. Best, sincere and personal service. Genuine hospitality which is deeply touching.

Everything should be easy and cheerful. This is what we offer. You can take as much as you want – it’s entirely up to the individual. Everyone should feel ease and joy, be it through yoga or vegetarian cuisine, through base fasting or climbing.

These are the pillars of our service. The Goldener Berg “energy mountain” – holistic self-care for conscious cosmopolitans. From this we have now developed various wonderful programmes such as: bathing in the Alpine setting, listening to our hearts, tide hiking, coaches and yogis in residence and much more.

We will start with some offers in summer 2020 and look forward to many interested guests and co-developers of our new programme!

ROOMS & SUITES
Please, step right in! Perfect accommodation in Lech has to fulfil a lot of criteria. We have made it our goal to fulfil your wishes. We have selected warm colours and natural, local material for our rooms and suites, giving you an environment with plenty of room for your well-being and happiness.

The needs of our guests are as individual as the guests themselves. It doesn’t matter whether you are seeking a break on your own, or whether you have chosen to head to Arlberg with those dear to you, we have the perfect room for you; spacious, light, colourful, and cheerful.

Nothing contributes more to one’s physical and mental well-being as quality sleep. It was this that led us to choose stone pine, a local tree that has always been renowned for its soothing properties. What’s more, you can choose from a variety of different bedlinen. You could choose the finest down, or high-quality allergen-free sheets.

Large and small footprints next to each other in the glistening fresh snow. Colourful daisy chains made from fragrant Alpine herbs. So much space, both inside and out. The Goldener Berg is where we write stories together, where wonderful memories are etched into the sky.

Perfect all around: the Chalet-Suites excite not only with their spacious room, but also with their facilities. Alpine lifestyle meets rustic comfort. The family suites will charm with a lot of wood, natural materials and the perfectly thought through room arrangement.

An additional small sitting area offers enough space to enjoy even the cold winter evenings.

DINING
Best sustainable & regional products; plant-based alpine cuisine by head chef Oliver Fleisch, all menus are made freshly & consciously; fit, vegan & vegetarian for so much indulgence.

As we know, the stomach is the way to your heart: You are what you eat! True to our motto: “You can do everything, but you don’t have to”, we prepare plant-based cuisine with a focus on regional products from farmers we trust. Likewise, we use herbs from the region and some of the fruit and vegetables are pickled in-house.

When it comes to meat and fish, we pay attention to species-appropriate husbandry and obtain these products as much as possible from the region, but never from outside the Alpine range. We process every single part of the animals.

Our focus is on people and all that is good for them. Created with the expertise of nutritionists for modern nutrition, you will experience dishes and menus that are cooked with love and inspired by the Mediterranean cuisine.

In the words of our chef Oliver Fleisch – creative, unadulterated Alpine Adriatic cuisine that enhances the taste of the best products, while underpinning holistic self-care and the bohemian lifestyle, is brought to the highest culinary level.

But grandmother’s traditional cooking is also important to us – it’s part of our history, after all. For this reason, we love reinterpreting old recipes with modern products, as well as serving them in a way that is palatable for everyone.

We offer classics of Austrian cuisine and a variety of Grandes Pièces of the highest level daily from breakfast to dinner. We take the trust you put in us and our kitchen very seriously and focus strongly on regional, fresh and seasonal foods. Luckily we live here on the Arlberg region, an area that provides us with a broad palette of valuable products for healthy, natural and regional cuisine.

The alkaline diet is a form of nutrition that emphasizes alkaline-forming foods while avoiding acid-forming foods. The alkaline diet prevents hyperacidity (which is known to be responsible for almost all chronic conditions such as sleep disorders, allergies, high blood pressure, etc.) and helps to reduce existing hyperacidity.

The risk of mineral deficiency is the result if we eat too little alkaline foods, and instead consume too much meat, cheese, coffee, alcohol and fast food. Sugar and animal proteins are also considered acid-forming. Combine this with lack of exercise, stress and nicotine, and health problems are likely.

The goal of an alkaline diet, then, is to achieve a balanced acid-base equilibrium. Alkaline-rich foods such as fruits and vegetables, herbs, nuts, sprouts and seeds should make up the largest part of the diet. Spa Tip: Alkaline Bath and Salt Wrap

The vegan life was never easier than today: Even top athletes such as Lewis Hamilton and Novak Djokovic follow a vegan diet, not only for animal protection, but also for their own health. The physical well-being and physical health improve dramatically through a vegan diet even after a short time.

With an incorrect western diet, we are eating ourselves sick, that’s long not been a secret. By eating fresh, plant-based foods, you can more easily reach your ideal weight, and even more importantly, it gives you power and energy.

But according to our slogan: “You can do everything, but you don’t have to”, just strongly reducing the consumption of animal products helps your well-being and health, which you won’t find difficult thanks to our creative plant-based Alpine cuisine.

The important thing in a vegan diet: Make sure that the body gets enough protein. This is really easy in the form of protein powder, such as putting it in a vitamin drink in the morning.

Ketogenic foods are a form of low carb diet. It is characterized by a low carbohydrate and low sugar but very fat-rich diet. Through the lack of carbohydrates, the metabolism changes and falls into so-called “ketosis”.

In the ketogenic diet, the intake of low carbohydrate foods leads the body into a type of hunger status, whereby there is no energy deficit, as is the case during fasting. The metabolism adjusts to this and little by little, a so-called ketosis arises.

Ketosis occurs when the body has no more carbohydrates and thus no glucose, and instead burns a glucose replacement, the ketone bodies that form in the liver.

Everyone can create (or have created) their individual eating plan according to their wishes. And naturally, activity and relaxation play their own special roles. In short: A holistic concept that a fits into everyone’s life. And is tasty too!

THE PANORAMA RESTAURANT
The panorama restaurant is serving heavenly dishes with breathtaking views. It’s especially beautiful when you can enjoy your favourite dessert whilst gazing through the window at the sugar-sprinkled mountain peaks.

Our chef de cuisine Oliver Fleisch creates regional delicacies and refined compositions. In addition to the classic half-board (in the summer 3/4 board indulgence cuisine), you have the following options for your evening menu: Vegan/Vegetarian, Alkaline Diet or Low Carb.

Light snacks with a breath-taking view. In the summer, our guests enjoy our vital snack for between meals within the 3/4 board (light soup). A quick little pick-me-up before the next treatment or yoga class? – No problem, you are welcome to come in your sports outfit or bathrobe

THE DIRNDLSTUEBERL
There’s gendering in Arlberg too! – the Dirndlstüberl room (Dirndl = girl) as a pendant for the Johannisstübli room. The ambience itself in the Dirndlstüberl is wonderfully gentle, noble, and light. Its wooden furnishings give it a wonderful homely feeling of cosiness.

Warm colours underpin the feeling of well-being, and we have indulged our wonderful feminine energy in the carefully selected decorative features.

THE JOHANNISSTUEBLI
The “Stübli” gets its lovely name from the Saint figure that adorns this wonderful woodpanelled room. Soft cloth drapes the noble walls, and you take your seat in a particularly atmospheric ambience.

Warm light falls on the charmingly layed tables, bathing the “Stube” in a lovely cosy glow. As a highlight, we offer you vegan and vegetarian delights in the Johannesstübli.

THE PANORAMA SUN TERRACE
What could be more wonderful than sitting outside and letting the sun shine in your face and enjoying the moment?

At over 1,700 metres above sea level in our gourmet petrol station you can enjoy fresh, light and healthy food, with a view of the mountains and a smile on your face! No time for a long “stopover”? Then you are exactly right with us! We serve “Fast Soul Food”, simply irresistible.

In winter you just swing off. Short stop with the skis, take a seat in a deckchair. Sparkling drinks are served, cheers to life! In summer it is at least as beautiful. In the midst of the lush green alpine meadows, there is nothing else to do but fill up on vitamin D. In the air is the wonderful smell of colourful flowers and sweet idleness.

A visit to the sun terrace with your loved ones is particularly enjoyable. Good conversations, relaxed daydreams. We love to pamper you to the letter. Preferably under the open sky!

THE WINE CELLAR
Embark on a tour of taste through the most beautiful and best winegrowing areas of the world, and let your journey begin in the wine cellar of the Goldener Berg in Arlberg.

Winetasting is offered to guests staying at the Goldener Berg as well as to interested guests who have come up the mountain for a meal. We hold over 1250 different varieties of wine in our wine cellar, and a total of 18,000 bottles of exquisite wines: full-bodied reds, treated to plenty of sunshine and mellowed in oak barrels.

Light whites with fine fruit and juicy body. Late burgundies that impress with their spicy bouquet. Uncomplicated, fruity, full-bodied Chardonnays from all over the world and more besides. The repertoire of wine at the Goldener Berg deserves the distinction of “precious” in every respect.

The wine cellar itself as a place where wood, stone, and glass merge together to create an inspiring atmosphere. The senior manager Franz Pfefferkorn himself was president of the first sommelier club in Austria and leads the wine tasting sessions full of passion for the noble liquid.

THE ALTER GOLDENER BERG
The Alter Goldener Berg in Lech is called “Alter Goldener Berg” simply because it has existed for over 500 years. The ancient little “Stuben” dining rooms have been lovingly restored and decorated, offering a unique atmosphere for family celebrations with overnight accommodation, weddings in the mountains and all sorts of other occasions (with up to 120 guests).

In winter, the Alter Goldener Berg is also a popular restaurant. In summer, it is open for family celebrations with overnight accommodation, weddings, birthdays, corporate celebrations, baptisms etc. The rooms never cease to impress when you step in. Just how often have people danced, celebrated, and laughed here over the last 500 years?

FAMILY CELEBRATIONS
The “Alter Goldene Berg” has stood for over 500 years enthroned amongst the impressive mountains around the Hotel Goldener Berg. The cosy little “Stuben” dining rooms of this traditional farmhouse can seat up to 120 guests. They are original, cosy, and traditional, and make the perfect venue for celebrations in the mountains.

Your host Daniela Pfefferkorn and her whole team have specialised in “golden mountain weddings” and endeavour to lend their special touch of magic to your wedding in the mountains. Whether you require a wedding menu, wedding cake, decorations, or have special technical requirements for your festivities or formalities, the Goldener Berg can fulfil them all.

WEDDINGS
These are surely the most beautiful words that two people can say to prove their love for each other. This significant moment should be unforgettable and needs suitably special surroundings.

The 4 star Superior Hotel Goldener Berg with the traditional “Alter Goldener Berg” in Oberlech am Arlberg is the perfect location for your festivities in the mountains with a huge range of services available. The Goldener Berg stands at 1706 m above sea level.

In summer, the flowers transform the view into an ocean of bright colours. The fragrance of Alpine herbs and meadow flowers mixes with the clear mountain air. The mountain peaks look as though they are so close you could touch them, and you feel that bit closer to being in seventh heaven.

NATURE
The step into the lush green grass, the swing through the fresh powder snow. We at the Golden Energy Mountain have always loved to move.

Just like the demanding tensing of the muscles, the optimized oxygen saturation in the blood and the happiness-inducing endorphins, which together have more than a positive effect on the body, however, it also requires a certain mindfulness.

Consciously breathing in the fresh mountain air during yoga on our terrace with a view over the mountains of Lech. The perception of the unique landscapes during the bike tour.

The pause during alpine bathing between the proud mountain peaks and magnificent alpine meadows. Feel what it really means to feel good in your own body during mindful movement around and on our energy plateau.

And strengthen not only your body, mind and soul, but also your immune system during Nordic walking, a round of golf or winter activities off the slopes. Bring mindfulness into your sports routine and feel the power of the mountains!

HEALTHY
The cooperation with the farmers we trust (maximum from the alpine arc, as regional as possible), the sustainable way we get our vegetables and other edible delicacies and of course the nature of the Arlberg as a reliable supplier of herbs and more: The dishes that our chef Oliver Fleisch and his team conjure up in the course of our plant based alpine cuisine let you taste our wonderful surroundings. And by the way, they are also insanely healthy.

True to our motto “everything can, nothing must” we leave the choice to you: alkaline, ketogenic, vegetarian or vegan? If you like to keep it classic when it comes to food, you are also in the right place with us.

In one restaurant, we cook according to grandma’s old recipes, while in the other we are very modern and creative. But there’s one thing that’s definitely on every one of our plates: an endless love of good, healthy food.

ALPINE WELL-BEING
Diet, exercise, and balance are important pillars of this concept. Harmonious fundamentals, individual paths, and plenty of time for yourself ensure a time-out for regeneration, for your sweet well-being.

What’s more, we place emphasis on taste and regionality. Our hotel’s furnishings and the ingredients used in the kitchens have local roots, and we live thankfully hand in hand with nature.

The ingredients used in the applications in our Alpine Spa have been equally carefully selected, and some of them have been specially developed for the Goldener Berg. Always in view: our homeland, Alpine nature and its power.

AWARE
Have you ever taken a deliberate walk through nature? Have you soaked up the scents of the countryside and noticed the awakened chirping of birds? If so, you certainly know how good it feels. The conscious contact with everything that is and surrounds us.

An eye for the wonders of nature. When you are outdoors for a longer time, only one feeling can remain: gratitude for the abundance that is given to us every day.
Experience this feeling with us!

During yoga and the subsequent meditation session on our terrace with a view of the proud mountain peaks. But looking down dog, tree & Co. do not have to be at all to experience this awareness.

Often a very conscious walk into the nature that surrounds us is enough – we call it alpine bathing. Or a few steps through our sensory path, looking out into the countryside and letting our thoughts drift with the clouds. Sitting on our meditation platform (atrium) and just feeling.

ENERGY
To find happiness and a balanced existence, energy must be able to flow freely. Body, mind and soul must be in harmony. One must also simply be able to let go. Many are overcome by this kind of liberation when they leave their hectic lives behind for a while and travel to the Golden Energy Mountain.

The energy, the pure air that Lech “radiates” as a climatic health resort and sunny plateau – it is already a very special place of power. Others need a little more “jump start”. Perhaps a massage, combined with the long-awaited time-out in our Alpine Spa?

Worries, false beliefs, fears and other obstacles in life sit deep within our cells. It is one thing to understand things in the mind and a second to really let them overflow into the system. Therapists of light work help the body to become free as well. Only in this way is the human being as a whole again with himself – in BEING.

HOLISTIC WELL-BEING
In summer 2019, we started working again on my “Path of Being” (“Seins Pfad”) programme. The idea of bringing consciousness and mindfulness to everyday life at all levels. With this programme, you will follow various mentors, therapists and yogis. Read more about the various methods and techniques in the different areas, as well as the people behind them.

MOUNTAIN TREATMENTS
What is life all about? A question that surely everyone has been dealing with since the beginning of humanity as soon as they have met their basic needs. We think: It’s about being self-aware and simply being happy.

What is happiness? Personally, I think it’s a state of inner peace and contentment. A life following your own rhythm and your heart. Being fully aligned with your own universe and in love and understanding with everything going on around you.

So how do we get there? Many roads lead to Rome – as it was said back then. This is why we have found a broad range of great therapists who come here to share their different ways of achieving this happiness.

Find out for yourself what exactly it is for you that leads you to feeling whole. We look forward to talking to you, growing with you and offering you some real time out and me-time here on our golden mountain of energy.

YOGA
An ancient system based on knowledge acquired over centuries in which various mentally, muscularly and meditatively calm states and thus relaxing health can be achieved through mental and physical exercise (gymnastic sport).

THE ALPINE SPA
A mountain spring fills the pool, warm waves play around your body, amazing panoramic views around the Goldener Berg accompany you.

Majestic mountain peaks embrace Oberlech gently in their arms, the Alps cast a spell with their unique beauty. Cuddled up in a fluffy bath robe with your favourite book in your hand, this is what wellness in the Arlberg region is about: free, relaxed, and at one with yourself.

SAUNA
What could be nicer than spending an afternoon in the wellness area, especially after enjoying exercise in the crystal clear mountain air? It’s time to put your bathrobe on!

It’s simply wonderful, this peace in which body, soul, and spirit find time to relax. Take time to listen to your inner voice and select the offers that suit you. Relaxed, easy-going, and individual. Then it’s time to cool off if you want to in our refreshing pool.

Among the TOP 10% of hotels with the best pools in the world, our guests can relax in two pools, filled with fresh, warm water from a mountain spring and with amazing views. The majestic mountain peaks create the perfect setting for unforgettable, personal moments of joy.

The crystal clear mountain air refreshes every cell of your body, whilst the heat of the water warms up your entire motor system.

REST
At some point it comes. The feeling of needing peace and quiet. Hardly any place is better suited for this than our rest area with our new stone pine bunks. No one will disturb you here. Here you have the peace and quiet you need to relax. Here you have time for yourself!

In addition to the cosy rooms in which the various treatments for the well-being of our guests take place, there are also other lovely opportunities for bathing and (heart)-warming experiences.

Take a swim in our pool with Alpine views, enjoy the heat of the steam room or pedal on the bike machines in the fitness room. The Goldener Berg promotes an active way of achieving relaxation.

STAY ACTIVE
Be fit and feel great. The fitness room at the Goldener Berg is a space for working off energy and giving it all. There is Galileo training equipment as well as a running machine, bikes, and muscle training equipment. You’re welcome to have a personal trainer! If you prefer to exercise in the open air, you have the beautiful Oberlech outdoor paradise at your disposal.

Nature’s playground in Lech am Arlberg. Are you ready for the challenges of the mountains? Your next nature experience is right on your doorstep. The mountains are calling!

CLIMBING & HIKING
The Arlberg region is one of the hiking and climbing hotspots in the Alps. Very close to the Goldener Berg there are numerous climbing tours with guides and superlative mountaineers. There are also 350 km of hiking routes waiting for you. So put your walking boots on, it’s time to head out!

Runners and Nordic walkers alike will notice the significant benefits to their fitness on the wonderful forest and meadow paths thanks to the altitude here.  An absolute must for keen hikers and mountain-lovers is the “Grüne Ring” (Green Ring).

It almost follows the same route as the legendary “Weiße Ring” in winter, and is a round-trip that guests can walk in summer, enjoying the nature of the Arlberg region in all its facets.

A series of stages leads via the Rüfikopf, Zürs, Zug, the Kriegerhorn and back to Oberlech, with everything that goes with it: the “Biwakschachtel” bivouac, “Walser Bibliothek” library, the giant on the Madloch, the “Sagenwald” forest of legends and the “Lecher Mauer”.

Perhaps you like the idea of an early morning tour up our local mountain, the Omeshorn. From the top, the views reach further into the Alps, with the Dolomites to the south, Switzerland’s giants to the west, and the foothills of the Alps to the North.

Equally wonderful is the Gipslöcher nature conservation area, an easy route that can be enjoyed as an afternoon walk. The mountain tour to the Göppingerhütte and up to the Älpele, via the Butzensee lake and the Braunarlspitze is not for the faint-hearted, a day’s hike in a high Alpine environment.

Your host Daniela Pfefferkorn is a passionate climber and hiker herself and will happily share some insider tips with you. The hikers’ bus (included on the Lech card) takes you back to the Goldener Berg.

THE ROTE WAND
The “Rote Wand” is perfect for first climbing visits to the Arlberg region. Perhaps you would like to take part in a climbing course, or maybe you are already an experienced climber and want to embark on a tour yourself.

In the evening at the mountain film festival in St Anton, impressive images show you how the experts do it. We can happily organise a mountain tour on the via ferrata on the Karhorn with one of our qualified guides.

Hike, run, or walk in the warm months uphill, downhill, through mountain, hill and dale, through fragrant flower meadows, drinking from crystal clear mountain streams, and dip your feet in the turquoise mountain lakes. Lech and hiking are made for each other.

In autumn a remarkable splendour of colours cloaks the Vorarlberger Land region and quietness pervades the mountains. The peaks throw long shadows, and animals prepare themselves for the arrival of the snow.

At a time when environmental influences and weather phenomena are becoming more intense, it is beautiful to be able to enjoy each of the 4 seasons to the full. Embark on a journey – your journey. In Lech there are 350 km of hiking paths to enjoy either alone or with a guide.

HEALTHY RUNNING
Why do people who live in the mountain always look so healthy? Science has delivered the answer. At altitude, air contains less oxygen, and air pressure is lower.

This means that less oxygen enters the blood and the body naturally produces more red blood cells in order to increase the capacity for oxygen uptake and transport. Serious athletes already know this and put this knowledge to use before important competitions by pursuing high-altitude training. Enjoy the benefits of the wonderful environment!

NORDIC WALKING
The enjoyment of exercise: Nordic walking brings outdoor fans and those with similar interests together in beautiful nature. There are 54 km of marked walking routes simply waiting to be discovered, beginning on your doorstep at the Hotel Goldener Berg.

The Vita-Parcours Run is especially popular with our athletic guests. The 10 different routes have been tested and certified by experts. Signs have been erected detailing directions and lengths so you always know what lies ahead and whether it suits your ability.

You can also see how far you have already walked. Along the route there are a total of 12 exercise points at which to stretch and exercise. Follow this up with a refreshing visit to the Kneipp pool.

This quick form of walking using specially designed sticks trains your entire body. The cyclic form of movement leads to a diagonal between your arms and legs, strengthening your arm, back, and leg muscles.

The sticks should meet the ground below your body’s centre of gravity. Dragging the sticks and slow walking are pretty ineffectual, what is needed is dynamic movement.

MOUNTAIN BIKING
Nothing is more satisfying for mountain bikers than the moment they reach the highest point of their tour, when efforts give way to a feeling of success. After biking through lush green meadows with the majestic mountains in front and a good portion of the route behind on one of the many hiking and mountain biking routes around the Oberlech region

488 vertical metres and 4 km long sounds like a considerable ride. And believe us, it really is. The so-called Burgwald Trail winds its way alongside the toboggan run from Oberlech down to Lech am Arlberg and demands something from both bike and biker.

The route was planned with fun in mind for both mountain biking experts and intermediates alike. And if the bike trail itself isn’t enough, there are various extra features that have been installed along the route. If you want to take the easier route, then you can avoid these passages by following the “Easy Line”.

VIA FERRATA
The Arlberg region as the centre of the Lechtal Alps is one of Austria’s climbing hotspots. High up destinations, and how to get to them: state qualified mountain guides are available for the Hotel Goldener Berg’s guests at any time for climbing tours if requested.

A sport that inspires everyone: climbing is easy to learn. The Alpincenter in Vorarlberg offers climbing courses for beginners. We will gladly take care of prior registration for you.

GOLF
“Golf is not a question of life or death, it is something more important than that”. That’s what they think in Scotland at least. In our opinion, golf is simply something that goes hand-in-hand extremely well with the Goldener Berg, for beginners as well as for guests who have been smitten by the charm of this wonderful sport for some time.

Be inspired by totally new facets of the fascinating sport of golf and enjoy this grandiose sport in a wonderful environment at the Lech Golf Club. The Lech Zug golf course was created in a region that has developed over the centuries and yet has been allowed to remain as it was.

GOLF CLUB LECH
The new golf course, created in the Zugertal is at 1500 m above sea level and makes Lech even more attractive for golfers from all around the world. The course was built taking great care concerning the intervention entailed in creating a course of scenic superlatives.

Golfers can rest assured that the Lech golf course is a special place that merges in with its natural Alpine landscape and presents a challenge. Take a look at the course in a – 3D Flyover Video.

The idyllic Zugertal valley is home to 9 new holes on both sides of the River Lech. Nature had already prescribed the route: upstream towards the Rote Wand up to Zugertobel, then after the 3rd hole, you head along the Lech to the Stierloch brook, and then pass the fish pond on your return to the start.

PARAGLIDING
A guaranteed high: flying beneath a paraglider over the Lechtal Alps. Seen from this perspective, the beauty of the mountains is simply overwhelming. Holidays in Lech am Aberg don’t get more beautiful than this.

The sea of mountain peaks that is impressive enough when hiking can be viewed from a new perspective when on a paraglider flight. The Arlberg region is a sheer Eldorado for paragliding and tandem flights. There is surely scarcely a more beautiful panorama to be seen anywhere.

If you fancy daring to do something really special during your holiday in our Alpine hideaway, then try a tandem paragliding flight. The range of offers available from the Flugschule Flight Connection Arlberg in St. Anton is broad.

Even as a beginner, you are in the capable hands of a state qualified trainer. They offer a range from panorama flights through to ones guaranteeing a real adrenaline rush. Choose from the exciting variety on offer and marvel at the Arlberg region from a bird’s eye view.

FISHING
Crystal clear water in untouched nature. That is what fishing and flyfishing in the Arlberg region is all about. A wonderfully peaceful sport that gives added variety to summer holidays in the Vorarlberg region. Switch off from everyday life: Peace, relaxation, and fabulous summer holidays in the nature idyll that is Vorarlberg.

But begin your fishing trip with a pleasant walk: you get to the fishing lake in about 45 min from Lech. The path takes you along the Lech river, perfect to get you in the mood for a restful day at the waterside.

Fishing on holiday: at the fishing lake in Lech you can not only catch your fish, but also prepare them to eat straight away. The Fischerstüble right next to the lake specialises in marinated trout and smoked trout.

Your fish are smoked over a special mixture of wood and served hot. Of course, you’re welcome to enjoy your catch in the exclusive atmosphere of the Hotel Goldener Berg: simply let the chefs of the award-winning restaurant know, and we will happily serve you your fresh fish.

FORMARINSEE & SPULLERSEE LAKES
Perhaps you’d like to swap the certainty of a catch in the fishing lake with a bit more luck and adventure. The nearby Formarinsee and Spullersee mountain lakes are easily reachable from the Goldener Berg on foot, by mountain bike, or hikers’ bus.

Fishing permits for the Formarinsee and the Spullersee lakes are obtainable from the tourist office Lech Zürs, or in the Formarin Alpe, the toll office in Zug, or at the Lech fishing lake. We will happily help you with any formalities.

CANYONING & RAFTING
Tumbling wild water, cliffs and gorges. The Arlberg region promises exciting, guided wild water tours. Safe and secure with helmet, climbing harness, and a wetsuit to keep out the cold, dive into the crystal clear water, abseil over a waterfall, and slide over natural slides into pools that have been carved out by nature.

If you feel safer in a boat, join a rafting tour in the Lech Valley. Thrilling and exciting, in harmony with the river. The best way of warming up afterwards is in the Goldener Berg Alpine Spa.

SWIMMING POOLS
How about cooling off in the refreshing water of a picturesque mountain lake or an ice-cold mountain stream? Enjoy bathing fun in Lech am Arlberg: the bathing lakes in the Lechtal region are distinctive in their crystal clear, turquoise water, the untouched nature that surrounds them, and their idyllic tranquillity. The Formarinsee and the Spullersee lakes are just a short walk from the Hotel Goldener Berg.

Dipping a toe in tells you that swimming in a real mountain lake can happen in pleasantly warm water. The Lech “Waldschwimmbad” pool is nestled in amongst the beautiful nature of the Lechtale Alps. Your summer holiday in Lech am Arlberg can begin.

SKYSPACE LECH
Skyspace Lech by the internationally renowned artist James Turrell is a work of art that invites you to enjoy a unique experience of light and space. James Turrell has developed a light room for Lech in which you can experience a new perspective on the relationship between sky and earth in high Alpine scenery.

JAMES TURRELL – THE LIGHT ARTIST
James Turrell is one of the most significant artists of the present day. His atmospheric installations are all about the sensual and spiritual perception of light. His light rooms are gentle compositions that offer visitors experiences that are both visual and emotional.

Skyspace-Lech portrays these ideas. The combination of building, landscape, culture, nature, both existing and man-made is the basis for intensive personal experiences and observations.

THE SCHROECKEN ADVENTURE PARK
The Abenteuerpark Schröcken is home to one of the highest high ropes courses in Austria. It certainly requires facing one’s fears as you try to keep your balance at great heights, stimulating senses that aren’t challenged in everyday life. Then as you proceed step by step, safely secured, you begin to enjoy the task in hand.

There are 16 stations in the high ropes course in Arlberg at heights of between 6 and 8 m above the ground which you complete under professional supervision, some of them without holding on at all.

At some points you have to cross tree stumps, a rope ladder, or foot holds to get to the next station. It requires concentration and care as you continue in harmony with nature around you. A visit to the high ropes course is something that is long remembered.

After this breathtaking experience, return down to earth and dive into the fresh spring water of our pool, or relax in the soothing heat of our sauna area, perfect for tired muscles.

THE SKU HOTEL RIGHT ON THE SLOPES
November marks the start of the winter season in the Arlberg region. Snowflakes start to fall and create a deeper and deeper covering of snow. By the end of November the first lifts open. Are you ready to make your first turns on the piste?

Or would you prefer to enjoy the peacefulness of your first ski tour? The clear blue sky makes the fresh snow glisten and you and your loved ones can breathe in the fresh, clear mountain air and enjoy the views of the majestic white peaks.

SKI IN
According to the motto “ski in ski out” the skis are put on directly in front of the hotel – and off you go, because after all it means: “skiing” and not “walking”! And after an eventful on Arlberg your last turn will bring you all the way back to the hotel – without having to unbuckle your skis and carry them.

ALPINE SKIING
Helmet, ski clothing, ski boots, skis, and sticks. That’s all you need for a day on the piste, and your adventure can begin right on the doorstep of your ski hotel on Arlberg. Or, challenge your friends to a race on the World Cup slope on Arlberg, enough to bring the best World Cup racers out in a sweat.

The Arlberg ski area is one of Europe’s largest and most beautiful winter sports areas. The Arlberg ski area has earned its worldwide reputation in every respect with its 88 lifts, 305 km of prepared pistes, and more than 200 km of untouched powder and spring snow slopes. And the most beautiful: Our hotel is right next to the piste: ski in, ski out!

Construction of the Auenfeldjets lift enabled a link between Lech Zürs and Warth, expanding the ski area by a further 14 lifts and 80 km of prepared pistes. Also, since December 2016, the Flexenbahn lift made Ski Arlberg into the largest interconnecting ski area in Austria.

LECH, ZÜRS, STUBEN
Winter sports at their very best between 1200 m and 2800 m above sea level. The ski area naturally divides into areas to the west and the east of the Flexenpass.

To the north west are the Vorarlberg resorts of Lech, Zürs and Stuben, whilst to the south you have the Tyrolean resorts of St. Anton and St. Christoph. The Hotel Goldener Berg stands above the Lech rooftops in Oberlech, a fairytale snowscape. Simply perfect for a skiing holiday right on the slopes!

CROSS-COUNTRY SKIING
Enjoying the tranquillity of nature away from the pistes, clearing your head and breathing in the crystal-clear mountain air – cross-country skiing offers these wonderful opportunities and, in addition to the sporting aspect, this sport in nature also brings a lot of joy to the heart.

Away from the Ski Arlberg ski area, there is a varied network of cross-country ski trails with over 27 kilometres of groomed and free trails as a training area or extensive run-out trail – for classic style and skating alike.

The flat terrain with gentle climbs, crisp mountain sprints and short descents is the perfect sport as an alternative to skiing for both experts and beginners.

HELI-SKIING
One of the many things that make Arlberg unique is that it is the only place in Austria where heli-skiing is possible. Jump like a stuntman from the runners of the helicopter into the powder snow, and start an unforgettable ride.

If you’re interested, let us know when making your booking and we can put you in touch with the helicopter company or make an appointment for you.

SPRING SKIING
Passionate about spring skiing and skiing in the sun? From March, enjoy perfect conditions in the Arlberg region. Feel how you glide stylishly into the valley on the spring snow and in the afternoon swap your touring equipment for T-shirt and sunglasses.

With a cool drink in your hand instead of sticks, rest on a deckchair on the sun terrace at the Ski Hotel Goldener Berg and enjoy the sun. The afternoons with a DJ providing the music are really something special.

WINTER TIME
Winter at the Golden Mountain is of course: ski in – ski out. Free of crowds, right in front of the hotel on the boards and off you go – that has been the Golden Mountain for over 100 years. But the same goes for exercise in winter nature without boards!

Directly from the hotel, there are many kilometres of wonderful hiking trails that are perfectly groomed every day. Snowshoe hiking – for me an unbelievably beautiful way to restore silence in the mind in a short time.

Strolling along with modern snowshoes on your feet, behind our guide through the snow-covered Zug Valley, in the silence of the forest and the fresh powdery snow is just one thing: meditative! I love it.

But jogging is also an option in winter that Lech offers, Nordic walking and cross-country skiing – all sports in wonderful nature that are quick to learn and bring a lot of joy to the heart.

We also offer many of these programmes directly from the Golden Mountain with our trainer Natalia. But our newly developed themes such as alpine bathing and tidal hiking are also part of our programme.

TOBOGGANING
The Lech toboggan run is a great way of enjoying the snow. Fun, fast, and exciting as the toboggans glide down the snowy slope. You can rent toboggans from the Lech sports shops.

SNOWSHOEING
Snowshoeing begins before the start of the ski season. This ancient form of getting around has been enjoying something of a renaissance in recent years. The principle of increasing the surface area of shoes so as not to sink into the snow was developed independently in various different snowy regions.

As a passionate hiker and nature lover, Daniela Pfefferkorn loves it everytime she can swap her office chair for snowshoes. Once a week she has to find time to enjoy the wonderful scenery and the crystal clear air.

Walking over the open snowfields has something meditative about it. The rhythm of your steps, the regular inhaling and exhaling, and the fabulous glistening of the snow have a calming effect. The balance of body and spirit come into harmony again.

You couldn’t ask for a better location to enjoy snowshoe walking in the Arlberg region. The Hotel Goldener Berg stands in car-free Oberlech, right next to the ski piste, just a few minutes from the edge of the forest. You can start your snowshoeing adventure from the doorstep.

As you head out across the Arlberg sunny plateau, look out for little tracks in the snow next to. You will be able to recognise the tracks of deer, rabbits, and fox. As the end of March approaches and the days get warmer, the animals in Oberlech become busier, and if you keep your eyes open, you may well see some wildlife scampering over the snowfields.

After a lovely long walk, there is a 30+ km network of paths to choose from, you have earned a reward. How about some lovely “Kaiserschmarrn” and a mug of coffee on the sun terrace of the Goldener Berg?

ICE SKATING
Perform a double Rittberger, or maybe just a few leisurely laps gliding across the ice. Whatever it is that attracts you to the ice, Arlberg is the place for it: in the middle of Zürs there is a natural ice rink on which to turn your pirouettes from 15:00 – 19:00 from Sunday to Friday.

If the weather isn’t so friendly, then there is a covered ice rink in the Hotel Monzabon. The air-conditioned hall has long opening times meaning you can head out onto the ice after enjoying the pistes. You can hire ice skates on site.

CURLING
Alpine curling has been a popular form of winter sport since the 16th century in Bavaria and Austria especially. It gave a wonderful opportunity for farmers and craftsmen to pit against each other in a playful way in winter whilst the weather prevented them from working.

HORSE DRAWN SLEIGH RIDES
What would a winter holiday be without a horse-drawn sleigh ride? Wrapped up in thick blankets, guests head out through the romantic, glistening winter landscape.

Once booked, you are picked up at the lift station in Lech, and the sleigh ride takes you to Zug, or into the Älpele. Stopping off somewhere cosy for refreshment is an absolute must, where local delicacies and a hot drink warm your hands and heart.
