Hotel Lunetta Rome

In an intimate atmosphere rich with history, Hotel Lunetta is a 4-star boutique hotel in the old heart of Rome. Completely restored between 2009 and 2011, the structure used to be the ancient Albergo della Luna (dating back to the year 1368).

It is remembered as the first hotel in the Eternal City, and Paduan architect Francesco da Carrara – also a guest here – designed its fireplace during the hotel’s inaugural year. With the presence of a half-moon on its facade, the hotel was referred to as “La Lunetta” beginning in 1782.

Also testifying to this Palazzo’s significant historic character is what is found beneath it: during the course of recent restoriation works, remains of the Antico Teatro di Pompeo (55 B.C.E.) were found, with its walls visible to guests today, thanks to crystal panels that look onto and preserve these magnificent vestiges.

ROOF & BAR
Hotel Lunetta is proud of its marvelous Roof Garden that looks onto Piazza del Paradiso. The garden lies just below the dome of the Church of Sant’Andrea della Valle (the third-highest dome after St. Peter’s Basilica and the Church of Saints Peter and Paul).

Thanks to Rome’s mild climate, the Roof is open almost year-round (excepting December to February, the coldest months); guests can revel in candlelight aperitivi or organize happy hours and other small events.

LIGHT LUNCH
From December to February, the Bar moves inside: here, light lunches and tea are on offer in the afternoon, while during evening hours guests can taste a selection of distilled liqueurs. The Bar opens every day until 23.00.
