Hotel Poseidon, a 4-star Hotel in the Heart of Positano, on the Amalfi Coast, is waiting for you in its “paradise” to ensure you an unforgettable holiday, with a stunning view over Positano and the Mediterranean Sea.

With a history of more than 60 years, Hotel Poseidon is a real terrace on the sea, well equipped and finished, and whose elegance turns it in the perfect location for the most demanding travelers.

Here, immersed in the peace and the calm of the Mediterranean sea, far from crowds and stress, but close to the most appealing treasures of Positano (it’s only 10 minutes from the main beach), you will find the pleasure of wellness and relax.

You will be cuddled by the sound of the waves that break over the rocks and every single day you will be pampered by the rays of the sun.

Everything in a unique environment, in an ancient atmosphere, full of colours, perfumes and flavours that will drive you back to past time, and let you forget about the daily tasks. What are you waiting for: book here your stay in one of the most beautiful places in the world!

THE HISTORY
The history of the Poseidon starts in 1950, when Bruno and Liliana Aonzo, who used to live in Naples together with their newborn children, Monica and Marco, decided to buy a little house between orange and lemon trees in Positano, a place where they could spend their summer holidays.

After a few years, when Positano joined the ranks of the most exclusive seaside resorts in the world, they decided to turn their summer house into a Hotel and this is how the Poseidon, who now has 48 rooms and suites, a pool, a restaurant, a bar, a beauty centre and a private garage, was born.

Today, thanks to the siblings Monica and Marco – in the picutre above on the beach in Positano with their Mother, Liliana – who live inside the Hotel and watch over it personally, the Poseidon is far from being just a hotel: it is a “home away from home”, appreciated for its family and elegant atmosphere.

ROOMS & SUITES
Given the history and the structure of the Hotel Poseidon, born in 1955 as a private villa of the Aonzo Family – who still lives in it and runs the Hotel as their home the 48 rooms, individually furnished with a Mediterranean flair and complete with all the comforts of a 4-star Hotel, are all different one from the other.

The floors are tiled in hand-painted maiolica and the decor includes furniture belonging to the family which gives the rooms a certain warmth: classy details, such as wrought iron headboards and antique frames, add the perfect finishing touches.

All the rooms – apart from the Standard Double Rooms, which have a private terrace facing a garden – have a private panoramic terrace or balcony which enjoys a wonderful view of Positano and its colored houses perched on the mountain, a part of the Amalfi Coast until the next village of Praiano and the sea.

Each room has a bathroom with a bathtub and/or a shower, hairdryer, air conditioning, minibar, safe, TV, direct phone line and a free and unlimited WI-FI internet service.

Most of the rooms are easily reachable by the extraordinary wooden elevator (which was the first one built in Positano, back in 1965) and connecting rooms give the chance to families to enjoy their stay at the Poseidon just like they were home.

WOW ROOM
The “WOW! Room” was recently built and is the largest room of our collection: 80 m² / 861 ft². It is located on the Hotel second floor and it has a private panoramic terrace with a wonderful view of Positano and the Mediterranean Sea.

The “WOW! Room” can accommodate maximum 2 people on the queen-size bed. The bathroom, with its red hand-painted tiles, has a bathtub and a separate shower. The “WOW! Room” is easily accessible by our elevator.

LILIANA SUITE
Suite Liliana has a distinctive personality of its own and it holds a special place in our hearts.

It is split into two levels: the living area is on the ground floor; the wooden spiral staircase leads you upstairs, where the bed and the bathroom – decorated with green hand-painted tiles and with a large shower -allow you to feel like staying in a quiet apartment rather than a Hotel room.

The private terrace, with a table and two chairs, enjoys a wonderful view of the dome of the Main Church, the beach, the other side of Positano and the next town of Praiano, and a wide view of the Mediterranean Sea.

The position of the bed (that can be arranged as a queen-size bed or two single beds), allows you to wake up in the morning to wonderful scenery.

SUPERIOR SUITE
Our beautifully furnished Superior Suites are all different one from the other. They are composed of a bedroom, a separate living room and one bathroom. They all have a private panoramic terrace / balcony with a breathtaking view of Positano and the Mediterranean Sea.

The bedroom can be arranged with a queen-size bed or two single beds. The living room has a sofa bed to accommodate a third person. The bathroom, with its coloured hand-painted tiles, has a bathtub with overhead shower and/or a separate shower. Some of our Superior Suites are accessible by a flight of 25 steps

SKY ROOM
There are n°2 Sky Rooms at the Hotel Poseidon and they both enjoy a wide and unforgettable view of Positano and the Mediterranean Sea. One Sky Room is located on the 4th floor and it is easily accessible by our elevator.

It can be arranged with a queen-size bed or with two single beds. The bathroom, with its green hand painted tiles, has a bathtub with overhead shower. Terrace with a table, chairs and sunbeds. This Sky Room can accommodate a third person on a rollaway bed / sofa bed.

The other Sky Room is located on the 5th floor (the top floor) and it is necessary to take about 30 steps to reach its door, as the elevator can only get up to the 4th floor. It can be arranged with a queen-size bed.

The bathroom, with its blue and white striped hand-painted tiles, has a bathtub and a separate shower. Terrace with a table and chairs.

RESTAURANT & BAR
“Il Tridente” Restaurant is located on the Hotel Poseidon terrace which offers a breathtaking view of Positano, its colored houses, the sky and the sea. Whether it is for breakfast, lunch or dinner, at “Il Tridente” we only use local fresh ingredients.

Chef Antonio Sorrentino and his team love to honor the Neapolitan culinary tradition; they created a menu with special dishes that have been passed on for generations. This is, we believe, what makes “Il Tridente” one of the best restaurants in Positano. And the view is something you just can’t get tired of.

The wine cellar offers a careful selection of regional and international labels, and our Sommelier will be able to suggest the perfect pairing to the dishes chosen. The brand new vegetarian menu allows us to be one of the most recognized vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Positano.

Several gluten-free options are available. Please check the menus below and fill in the form or send us an e-mail for information or booking requests; we will get back to you within minutes!

IL TRIDENTE COCKTAIL BAR
“Il Tridente” Bar, set on a terrace from which it is possible to enjoy one of the most beautiful views that Positano has to offer, is open every day from 09:00 to 01:00 AM.

At night, soft lighting and candles turn on and the whole area transforms into a dream. It is the ideal place to sit back and relax while having a drink made by the professional bartenders and enjoying the appetizer prepared by the Chef daily.

The indoors spaces are furnished as a traditional Neapolitan living room and the two fireplaces heat up the spaces during cold days, making it a cosy familiar place to read a book, play table games and enjoy a snack or a drink.

THE SWIMMING POOL
The pool area is one of the plus of the Hotel Poseidon. Open daily (weather permitting) and with free access for Hotel guests, the big solarium with sunbeds is a valid alternative to the beach – and offers breath-taking views!

A carob tree creates some shady areas, which allow guests to rest after a dive or read a book in tranquillity. The bar by the pool serves light lunches and drinks throughout the day. The pool is open from 09:00 AM to 06:00 PM – afterwards we get ready for the Aperitivo!

THE SEA VIEW
The view from the Hotel Poseidon is one of the most breathtaking views you can enjoy from the entire village of Positano.

From the bedrooms’ private terrace as well as from the common areas you face the other side of the village, the dome of the main Church, part of the beach, down the Amalfi Coast to the next town of Praiano and a wide view of the sea.

WELLNESS & SPA
The Hotel Poseidon has a Beauty Centre, “L’Onda”, open every day (except Tuesdays) from 10:30 AM to 06:30 PM. Couple’s Massages, Antistress Massage and a wide range of face and body treatments are available upon appointment (non-staying guests are welcome as well).

Apart from the four equipped massage rooms, there is also a scenic Turkish Bath dug into the rocks. Pedicure, Manicure and Waxing available as well.

WEDDINGS ON THE AMALFI COAST
Positano is the ideal place for anyone getting married: the magic and the beauty of the town and of the water as the background to your wedding day will leave you with an unforgettable memory! In the center of Positano, the Hotel Poseidon is a wonderful setting for your special day.

The large terrace with stunning views over the sea and the town make the Hotel Poseidon the most romantic location for a wedding in Positano, whether it is a small intimate event or a bigger party.

Our spaces can host from 2 to 40+ people, depending on the type of ceremony You wish to organize with us. There is a variety of services to choose from and all of our menus (vegetarian, fish or meat – including sushi) offer prime choice local ingredients and can be tailored to your wishes and expectations.

EXPERIENCES
Positano is not only a beautiful, picturesque town. There is a lot of history and culture to be discovered while on the Amalfi Coast. So, take it as a friendly advice: you need time, if you want to enjoy your holidays in Positano fully.

These below are just some of the experiences and activities that we can help you plan while you are here. Before you book your vacation, please do have a look at those and plan your travel days accordingly.

There are many other things that you might want to do during your stay and this is why we recommend to leave some time unplanned. Things can come up any minute here!

Don’t forget, however, to please spend a day just “doing nothing, enjoying the view”! May this be from your private terrace, from the pool area or from our bar while sipping a cocktail. It doesn’t matter where, just do it! 🙂

EXCURSIONS
A visit to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Paestum, less than 2 hours (by car or by ferry) far from Positano. Or, closer, to the just-opened Roman Villa right here in Positano.

A BALLET OR CONCERT
A ballet or concert (at sunrise as well!) at the Ravello Festival: a few kilometres from Positano, international artists come to perform in a lovely setting.

CAPRI
This island has an unequalled natural beauty, archaelogically and artistically. Attracting an enormous amount of tourists all year round, it has been the international jet-setters’ playground for decades.

Renowned for its Blue Grotto, the Faraglioni rocks, its incomparable fauna and flora and the stupendous beauty of its scenery. It can be easily reached by ferry from Positano (30 minutes).

RAVELLO
It’s a small city of ancient origin perched among the hills, like a balcony overlooking the clear blue sea of the Gulf of Salerno. The beauty of this place has inspired poets, painters and musicians.

Wagner stayed here and the magical charm of the Villa Rufolo prompted him to exclaim “I’ve found the garden of Klingsor”.

The town of Ravello with its arches and antique towers against a splendid backdrop of clear skies and the sea, best captured in views such as the one from Villa Cimbrone and its “Terrace of Infinity” jealously conserves its artistic assets.

AMALFI
Amalfi is a small picturesque seaside resort within easy reach from Positano by boat or by car. Originally Roman, it was the first Sea Republic of Italy. Here you will find the incredible Duomo from the XI century, one of the most beautiful and famous in Italy and close by you can visit the extraordinary Emerald Grotto.

SORRENTO
Amidst the colours and noise of all the small towns fringing the Bay of Naples, Sorrento is a haven of peace and quiet immersed amongst its orange groves, parks and gardens, with walks leading to a translucent sea in a series of charming bays.

This small town is built on a cliff dropping sheer into the limpid blue of the sea and it looks across to Capri. The Correale Museum is well worth a visit and it has a rich collection of furniture, paintings and porcelain.

POMPEI
The eruption of Vesuvius in 79 A.D. buried this town, a flourishing commercial centre with 20.000 inhabitants, under a deep mantle of pebbles, mud and ash.

It is a unique sensation to walk around Pompeii and imagine living as those people did in the past, seeing those bodies immortalized by the lava like a flash in a photograph.

HERCULANEUM
The town is smaller than Pompeii and was buried not by the lava from Vesuvius, but by volcanic mud which made the excavations much easier.

Unlike Pompeii, however, here the woodwork and furniture were preserved, so that the finds from the long excavations are extremely interesting for the information they give on the art, customs and way of life of the ancient Romans.

NAPLES
There must be some reason why men of every country – Goethe, Ibsen, Wagner – were drawn to Naples and celebrated its gulf. The years pass, tastes and habits change but the age-old fascination of Naples remains.

The history of Naples in every period is to be seen in its monuments, churches, palazzi, squares and streets. All testify to an intense cultural tradition and centuries of fascinating history.

VESUVIUS
This is the only active volcano on the mainland of Europe: at present dormant after the last disastrous eruption of 1944 when streams of lava poured down and showered Naples and surroundings towns.

From the top of the crater, the visitor has a breathtaking view of the two Gulfs of Naples and Salerno: a sight hardly equalled in any part of the world.

PAESTUM
Paestum was founded in the VI century B.C. by Greek settlers from Sybaris. Three magnificently preserved doric temples – Poseidon, Basilica and Cerere – can be visited.

It is one of the most representative tourist sites in the Magna Graecia and since the time of its discovery (1700) Paestum attracts more and more tourists and academics.
