It has always been about a sense of home, a form of elegance which listens to Capri’s voice and interprets it with a light, personal touch. The villa which is now our hotel was once home to my grandparents, Count and Countess Manfredi, who spent wonderful summers here in the company of friends, family and illustrious figures. More than just a holiday, it was a chance to refresh the body and mind surrounded by nature and warm affection. The same memories still inspire every marvellous season at Punta Tragara today. (Goffredo Manfredi – Owner)

THE HISTORY
It was known as the “Stracasa” (“Super-house”) because it was so much more than a humble abode. In 1920 the Lombardy-born engineer Emilio Errico Vismara chose spectacular Punta Tragara as the perfect spot to build a villa, perched high above the sea with views of the Faraglioni rock formations.

The plans were drawn up by Le Corbusier, who described the villa as “a kind of architectural bloom, an extension of the rock, an offspring of the island, a plant-like phenomenon”.

It was only natural, then, that Villa Vismara should play a key role in history a few years later when it became home to the American command during the Second World War. Its eminent guests included General Dwight D. Eisenhower, General Mark Clark and Sir Winston Churchill.

Peace brought all the joie de vivre of the Dolce Vita to Capri, and in 1968 Count Goffredo Manfredi bought the villa as a holiday home, turning it into a hotel in 1973. Hotel Punta Tragara has enjoyed extraordinary growth ever since, reaching the pinnacle of hospitality on Capri as its five-star luxury status attests today.

THE LOCATION
The entire island from a terrace. The views from Punta Tragara are endless: the spectacular Faraglioni rocks, enchanting Marina Piccola, the white contours of Capri, the wonderful light of dawn embracing the sea and the quietly romantic sunsets. All the bustle and vitality of Capri’s historic Piazzetta is just a fifteen-minute stroll away along Via Tragara and Via Caramelle.

Hotel Punta Tragara, the ultimate in five-star luxury on Capri, towers over the Faraglioni rock formation, Marina Piccola bay and the Scoglio delle Sirene cliffs from above. Located at the end of delightful Via Tragara, the Hotel can only be reached via a 15-minute stroll along one of Capri’s most enchanting routes.

THE PENTHOUSE
An island of exclusivity on the magical island of Capri. The Penthouse at Punta Tragara is a glittering jewel which crowns the hotel’s five-star luxury, an oasis of beauty and unrivalled discretion. The masterpieces of Marina Piccola bay and the Faraglioni rocks are there to be admired from the magnificent 5th-floor terrace.

A maelstrom of beauty refreshes the huge living area adjoining the bedroom and its circular bed, sweeping into the breath-taking light-filled bathroom with central shower and bathtub. Beyond lie only the perfect circles of the sun and moon. Average size: 90mq | 968sq.ft

THE ART SUITE
An extraordinary creation. The sea itself plunges into the 5th-floor Art Suite and caresses Punta Tragara’s five-star luxury. No views over the Faraglioni rocks could be more stunning. No other place could encapsulate the uniqueness of Capri.

The senses thrill to this unique space, from the fabulous bedroom to the living room with bathtub “suspended” over the sea. Even the furnishings epitomise its breath-taking blend of tradition and design. Beyond lies the magnificent terrace. Here, everything lives in the present – legend, nature, strength and tenderness. Average size: 65mq

THE MONACONE SUITE
Like the prow of a yacht, the glorious Monacone Suite dominates the 5th floor of Punta Tragara and the splendour of Capri. The huge terrace wraps around the entire suite, from the bedroom (connected to the magnificent living room via a wide sliding door) to the spectacular marble bathroom and panoramic bathtub overlooking the Faraglioni rocks and Monacone island.

The interiors are made unique by the furnishings, in a superb blend of 18th-century tradition and contemporary design. A stone’s throw away is the soundless sea, the perfect soundtrack to every morn. Average size: 65mq

DINING
Capri is a triumph of flavours. We have everything here: the freshest ingredients, from fruit and vegetables to fish and cheese. Our lemons alone are enough to inspire a whole menu. Punta Tragara is just as extraordinary for its elegant, natural, contemporary cuisine.

From a breakfast of haute patisserie to lunch overlooking the Faraglioni rocks; in the evenings, chance location and dine surrounded by the lights of the Gulf of Naples, just steps away from Capri’s historic Piazzetta. We have two restaurants, Monzù and Mammà, offering the world-renowned traditions of Naples.

LE MONZU’ RESTAURANT
The name “Monzù” Restaurant is a deformation of the French “Monsieur” which is how they called the chefs who worked in the courts of leading Neapolitan aristocratic families between the 13th and the 19th century.

Chef Lionetti’s menu includes many historical Capri favourites and Neapolitan dishes. November 6th 2019, The Gourmet Restaurant Le Monzù of Punta Tragara Capri has been awarded with the first Michelin Star.

THE CHEF LIONETTI
Capri is my island and my whole life, and that includes the kitchen. Nature and style are perfectly balanced here, and that’s just what I look for in my cooking: respect for the ingredients, clean flavours, flawless presentation.

From pasta and potatoes with blue lobster and smoked provola cheese from the Lattari mountains to sliced red tuna with citrus fruit sauce and maritata endive.

Why did we call it “Le Monzù”? Because the chefs to aristocratic Neapolitan families were once given the French title “Monsieur”. And because the language of Naples reinvents everything, even when it comes to cooking.

MAMMA’ RESTAURANT
The Mammà Restaurant can be found at 6 Via Serafina Madre, a stone’s throw from Capri’s famous Piazzetta. The Concierge at Punta Tragara will be delighted to reserve an exclusive table for hotel guests.

THE CHEF SALVATORE LA RAGIONE
Inside the kitchen at Mammà, Salvatore La Ragione, former student of Gennaro Esposito and today a respected chef in his own right, is also hard at work, hard enough to have earned his first Michelin star in 2015.

His dishes are simple yet complex, founded on a selection of only the best ingredients and a careful preparation with particular attention to the blend of flavors. The results are minor masterpieces of Mediterranean cuisine.
