Hotel Straf Milan

STRAF Hotel, situated few steps from the Duomo Cathedral, in Milan city center, was born with a new concept of hospitality, characterised by a welcoming, careful and at the same time informal service.

Vincezo De Cotiis Architect used unusual materials for the Hotel, recycling objects and experimenting with the surroundings enviroment De Cotiis, creating an interior design far from the hotel industry standards.

ROOMS
64 rooms – reflect two apparently diverse philosophies: extreme hi-tech functionality with a minimalist touch and the warm and intimate ambience of our central rooms in Milan, designed using refined, innovative materials such as split slate, burnished brass, concrete and iron, gauze-effect glass and aged mirrors, alongside furnishings specially designed by Vincenzo De Cotiis.

Free internet Wi-Fi – mini bar – kettle with a selection of tea and infusions – LED TV – satellite channels – laptop-sized safe – air conditioning – phone – hairdryer – complimentary full American breakfast. Iron available upon request.

SUITES
Located on the top floor, the suites have wide windows and nice private terraces overlooking the Duomo Cathedral spires and the city center.

The two suites are styled very differently: one is awash in white stone with colorful stuccoes in reddish tones and the other is resplendent in black marble and fiberglass panels with black and brown tones. Connect with another suite to create an apartment of 65sqm for 4 people.

JUNIOR SUITE
Unique setting and original design, the Junior Suite is located on the top floor with wide windows and a nice private terrace overlooking the Duomo Cathedral spires.

The decor of this room is a mix of industrial materials (cement, burnished brass, resin, iron) with vintage elements such as the leather armchair and the fiberglass wall paneling with optical lens that help create a warm and cozy atmosphere. Connect this room with a suite to create an apartment of 65sqm for 4 people.

DELUXE ROOMS
The Deluxe rooms have a dedicated health corner where guests can leave aside technology in favor of refined relaxation in the form of a massage armchair and aromatherapy and chromotherapy zones, ideally separated from the sleeping area by a glass wall.

THE RESTAURANT
Both the restaurant and the meeting room, adjacent to and mirroring the hall, are the natural extension of STRAFhotel&bar’s public areas. Here too, De Cotiis uses the basic material of the hotel; concrete for the walls and flooring, panels of burnished brass and iron for the walls.

The two large canvases in this restaurant near Duomo, exclusive decorative features created by the architect in coloured plaster, help to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere along with a clever use of lighting.

Service is speedy yet precise, perfect for business lunches, but also for a leisurely lunch in minimalist and elegant, delightfully informal surroundings.

The menu combines traditional Italian cuisine with international favourites such as the club sandwich, and even fusion cooking, such as tandoori chicken bites with basmati rice, vegetarian dishes including raw vegetables, dietetic, seasonal salads, with particular attention to the seasonality of the raw material and to the use of BIO products.

In the evening and on weekends, the restaurant is available for private hire for lunches, cocktails or private dinners.

The restaurant is also used as breakfast room. Every day from 7 am to 10.30 am it offers a full American breakfast service with an extensive choice of savory, sweet, hot and cold food, selected with a strong attention to Bio products, Made in Italy and the latest international tendencies.

STRAFBAR
STRAFbar is the window on the world of the design hotel of the same name, and has been designed using the same basic materials, for example the concrete for the walls and floors, and the industrial iron panels.

The attractively decorated ambience combines artistic elements such as the recycled fibreglass and wood panels and original 1970s furnishings. An intense and exciting atmosphere, STRAFbar offers an accurate all day bar and restaurant services with an à la carte menu.

The two large windows and entrance face directly out onto Via San Raffaele, bringing the outside in and viceversa, opening up the boundaries between the hotel interior and the outside. The music is an eclectic mix of vintage tracks during the daytime and more vibrant and lively sounds from dusk onwards.

Our live music bar in Milan is frequented by an international and local clientele. 
The “street happy hour” carries on late into the evening with theme nights with live music and dj set.

THE WELLNESS
Tucked away in the heart of a historic building at the end of the 800s near the Cathedral, the New Wellness Area of the Straf Hotel looks like a fine place dedicated to wellness.

The language conceived by the architect Vincenzo De Cotiis, remains consistent with the project dated 2003 and renews in a current and defined way the new spaces.

In this intimate place, the use of contrasting materials, contemporary and traditional, accompanies guests to a new and reassuring place, a place dedicated to body care that breathes a natural sense of calm.

The color palette is dominated by light and dark tones: the light plaster on the walls and ceiling, the marble flooring, antique and precious material also reproduced on the wall balustrades; all modulated by metallic accents, such as brass in fusion, which emphasizes the passages between the various environments.

A research based also on a game of reflections given by expertly used materials that blend with water. A functional and minimalist space that reveals a refined elegance that welcomes guests and put them at ease.

The result is an ethereal environment that highlights the combination of different materials and surfaces that evoke a tactile and sensory experience.

MEETINGS & EVENTS
A central location, just a stone´s throw from the Duomo Cathedral. A unique and attractive style that combines industrial materials like iron and concrete with with vintage, recycled elements.

A design atmosphere, ideal for art exhibitions, cultural events, cocktails, meetings, show-room and photo shoots. The hotel offers its rooms for all types of events in Milan, along with a catering service or private dinners.

The events room, in front of the restaurant and next to the hall on the ground floor, is equipped with a giant screen for video projections and conferences.

Thanks to the modularity and originality of its furnishings, comprising tables and stools made of recycled wood created and designed by Vincenzo De Cotiis, it is also suitable for use as a show-room.

The giant colour changing screen and “textured” effect walls characterise the space, creating different sensations depending on the chosen colour.

SIXTH FLOOR
The hotel’s top floor is a mini gallery displaying the works of art collected over the ten years since the hotel opened. The three rooms, two Suites and an Executive Room, are styled very differently.

One of the suites is finished in white stone and colourful stuccoes, with reddish tones, and has a lively ambience. Another is decorated with black marble and fibreglass panels, in black and dark brown tones, which lends the room a more elegant feel.

The Executive room, finished in burnished brass, mirrors and gauze-effect glass, is both exquisite and cosy. All these rooms have small terraces looking out over the city centre.

The rooms are interconnected by internal door or corridor and can be hired out on an exclusive basis for presentations, parties, as show-rooms or for small meetings.

ECO – NON PROFIT
For those who recognise themselves in a message of respect for mankind and the environment, for sustainability to become the new way of life, we must have the courage to change!

This proposal is part of the services development strategy aimed at various areas of the hotel and is aimed principally at improving hospitality with particular emphasis on respecting the environment.

This not only requires a huge commitment on the part of the hotel management, but also the drive to raise awareness and educate guests about the importance of reducing unnecessary consumption (changing towels, sheets, soap, slippers, complimentary products, etc.)

THE FASHION DISTRICT
In the heart of the city centre, just a few steps from the #STRAFhotel&bar, you have access to the famous “Fashion Quadrilateral”, so called because it comprises four of Milan’s most prestigious shopping streets: Via Manzoni, Corso Venezia, Via della Spiga and Via Montenapoleone.

It is a lively district, a reference point for the changes in the city and has often been the forerunner for worldwide trends and lifestyles.

In the fashion district take place the most important events of Milan Fashion Week, thanks also to the many historic buildings that give even more prestige to the fashion houses that decide to locate their brands here.

This ambivalence between history and fashion makes the Quadrilatero della Moda a fascinating location for everyone.

Walking along these streets is an opportunity to breathe “the Milanese charisma”, among colourful shop windows, jewellers, but also shops and antique dealers, showing how the Quadrilatero, despite being a trendy location, continues to preserve the authentic style of Milan.
