THE HISTORY
A Century ago, in the now distant 1909, during the “Belle Epoque”, Antonio Oggero, who had had various experiences in hotels around Europe, fell in love with Bordighera and decided to establish his own hotel here.

He started with managing the Beau Rivage and then went on to the Hotel Centrale, Hotel Quisisana, and finally wound up at Villa Elisa, a splendid residence of the time, which he transformed into a hotel and renowned restaurant.

His son Giovanni further developed Villa Elisa, modernising the structure and handed down the company to his son Maurizio and wife Rita, who carried on the family business upon which they have lavished their professional experience and great passion.

With the same love as in the beginning of its history, Villa Elisa has become an elegant hotel with a Wellness Area. Thanks to the love Rita and Maurizio’s four children; Francesca, Elisa, Stefano and Carolina, it continues to shine, surrounded by its lush colourful gardens.

DINING
Welcome to L’Aranceto, where hospitality is a family tradition. Experience the many delightful sensations of our lovingly prepared fresh, local, Ligurian produce. The chef will guide you through a selection of simple but tasty dishes. Come and enjoy Mediterranean cuisine that will satisfy your palate.

You can choose from a romantic dinner for two to a celebration party of up to 60 people. Enjoy an Aperitivo in the garden with friends sourrounded by lemon and orange trees and colourful flowers – a wonderful shared experience. On request we can prepare gluten-free or vegetarian meals. Reservation is appreciated.

THE SWIMMING POOL
What you think about having a refreshing swim? In the lush rear garden you will find an inviting 50 sqm swimming pool waiting for you. Ideal to cool off and enjoy yourself (the pool’s max. depth is 2.5 mt. -or at its lowest end for children 1 mt.).

You can relax and feel safe because in summer our lifeguard is on duty from 8.30 am – 12 noon and from 3 pm – 6.30 pm. At other times of the year you can just relax on our sunbeds.

THE GARDEN
Close your eyes and enter the garden. When you enter the hotel grounds you will be welcomed by an oasis of a variety of colourful trees, shrubs and flowers that provide a wonderful aroma and ambience.

The garden area is lovingly tended and has a special significance for the Oggero family. At the rear part of the garden, just behind the hotel, there is a small playing area for the children. In spring you can enjoy breakfast in the garden amongst the fresh budding flowers.

Do you practice yoga and feel the need for relaxation and vacations? We offer you a perfect match: a week or a weekend of sea, sun and lessons with the Yoga Alliance certified teacher Isabella Mora.

You will find the right balance in the colors and scents of our garden, you can relax by the pool or in the spa and treat yourself to a massage or treatments.

BORDIGHERA
You are in the province of Imperia on the Italian Riviera, where the colour of the flowers and traditions blend to welcome you to a place rich in art and history Bordighera is a small, seaside town with approximately 10,000 residents.

There are many places of interest to visit, such as churches, historic villas and you can discover many exotic gardens like Pallanca Gardens. Then there is the Mediterranean Sea which Bordighera has won the Blue Flag 14 times, for the cleanest sea in Italy.

Our beaches have pebbles and rocks and give you the possibility to go snorkeling and scuba diving. You can enjoy a stroll along the Promenade Argentina (named after a visit by Eva Peron) and relax with a cappuccino or ‘gelato’ (ice-cream).

Bordighera also has a fascinating history with the English from the time of Queen Victoria. We are only 15 minutes from France (by motorway) and also close to beautiful places such as Hanbury Gardens, Menton, Cap Ferrat (where you can visit the famous (Villa Rothschild), Nice, Monaco and Cannes.

You mustn’t forget to visit the medieval villages of Dolceacqua and Apricale, which were both awarded the Orange Flag as the most beautiful hamlets in the whole of Italy. Also we recommend visits to Perinaldo, Seborga and Triora (the village of Witches) and can organize trips for guests in our minibus.

We are not far from Sanremo and Bussana Vecchia, which was badly damaged by an earthquake in 1987 and in the 1960’s it became a hamlet for artists. If you love classical music, Cervo, not far from Sanremo, hosts numerous concerts every year.

If you love sports, there are many different types to choose from:

• Cycling you can hire a bicycle from Ospedaletti ot Sanremo to ride a special cycling track that connects Ospedaletti to San Lorenzo
• Trekking and mountain biking. There are many tracks in the hinterland where you can discover the medieval villages such as Rocchetta Nervina which has a lovely river with pool areas where you can swim and sunbathe on large, flat rocks
• Whale Watching. If you’d like to go whale watching it’s possible all year round. From the port of Bordighera you can have an incredible experience of dolphins and whales
• Water sports. Try windsurfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, snorkelling, or scuba diving
• Other sports. If you prefer to play golf, there are two courses to choose from, in Sanremo or Garlenda, near Albenga
• Bordighera has the first tennis court in Italy which was introduced by the English
• Horseriding is available in Dolceacqua where you can explore some areas of natural beauty.

• December: Christmas market in Bordighera and Ventimiglia, concerts,nativity and Festa di Antichi Mestieri in Isolabona.
