Hotel Villa Maria Ravello

Formerly a country mansion, Villa Maria Ravello prefigured a different layout for the rooms, which the lords separated by class distinction in master’s rooms, guest’s rooms, family’s rooms and relative’s rooms.

In our kitchen we utilize mainly our biological garden products. In fact Villa Maria Ravello is surrounded by wonderful terraced gardens where every morning our farmers harvest the biological products (fertilized with humus from near mountains sheep and goats’ breeding) which can be savoured in our restaurant.

Over 400 labels of the best Italian and French wines, including sparkling wines and champagne, to live a precious sensory experience: a venue of great value, impeccable service and excellent dishes enjoying the enchanting panorama of the Amalfi coast. Every detail contributes to make this place unique, which expresses the best of an all-Italian style of hospitality.

Situated in the historic centre between the Clarisse nunnery and S. Francis Convent, in a restful aristocratic area reachable only on foot (at about 10 minutes walking distance).

Villa Maria assures his guests in addition to maximum tranquillity also the most services including the parking of nearby Hotel Giordano (same property) where it is possible to park the car and take advantage of free luggage handling.

HISTORY
The Palumbo family, owners from four generations, since 1934 with great grandparents Vincenzo and Orsola, still personally manages the hotel with grandchildren Francesco and Giuseppe who, thanks to the experience acquired in hotels and restaurants abroad, devote themselves to the hotel with youthful spirit but with the same attention and commitment of their predecessors.

Rich and interesting is the history of this villa, situated in a secluded and peaceful area reachable only on foot. Once a roman noble Marquis de Cinque family’s manor, an history which blends with Ravello’s and the Amalfi Coast’s.

The structure, without lift, while preserving the elegant forms of a lordly mansion, in the years has undergone noteworthy redecorations which have fashioned its actual splendour.

In all of the premises, halls, staircases and public areas it is still possible to admire the antique marble floors and in the rooms and the bathrooms hand painted Vietrese School majolica tiles.

Villa Maria furniture is particularly researched and appropriate to the villa former lifestyle; liberty and art deco is present next to Murano glass chandeliers and every corner welcomes the visitor making him enjoy ancient enchantment.

However the hotel is equipped with all modern technologies, the rooms have been renewed with all comforts, in the bathrooms it is possible to relax in the shower or in the whirlpool bath. The hotel is fully air-conditioned.

Many famous guest have stayed at Villa Maria. Some of them have left testimonials of their passage: a very meaningful note from Prince Giovanni di Borbone delle Due Sicilie, a letter by Benito Mussolini thanking for the hospitality, the sculptor Mastroianni enchanted by Villa Maria’s beauty donated one of his works.

Alberto Granado, Che Guevara right arm wrote “Admirado por la beleza del lugar y la calida hospitalidad de sus habitantes les dedico estas linea”.

ROOMS & SUITES

Presently they are differentiated in different categoryies from the Basic to the Suite categories, all with elegant furnishings; they are charming with all the hand painted Vietrese artisans’ majolica.

Each room has all modern comforts with bathroom with shower or bath tub. In all rooms there is a TV and in some cases two TV, one visible from the bed, the other from the living area.

The rooms can have terrace or balcony with front or side sea-view, and some others have a large window with sea view Villa Maria overlooks on a unique view over nature, lemon groves and the sea. All guests have access to the solarium and mini swimming pool where they can rest under ornamental plants’ shadow.

THE BREAKFAST
A varied and healthy breakfast to start the day in the best possible way. The right amount of taste and energy to fully experience the magic of the Amalfi Coast.

A rich buffet including a wide selection of pastry products, as well as local ones, salami and cheese, fresh seasonal fruit and organic vegetables from the Villa Maria garden, fruit juices and smoothies, jams and cereals.

COOKING CLASSES
Daily cooking classes, individual or group, to discover the secrets of the traditional recipes of the Amalfi Coast cuisine. The lessons will be accompanied by anecdotes and accurate explanations and will end, of course, with the tasting of the dishes prepared.

SNACK BAR
Snack service open from 12 to 17 available from mid May to September by the Swimming pool Area (at the sister Hotel Giordano).

POOL
Situated at 5 minutes walking distance of the Hotel Giordano, of the same property. It is a 20×10 meters beautiful swimming pool is covered with majolica and nonslip bottom is equipped with whirlpool device

MINI POOL JACUZZI
The pleasure of relaxing in our outdoor Jacuzzi, enjoying one of the most evocative landscapes in the world in complete tranquility! Pampered by jets of water at different pressures, the hot tub will guarantee our guests moments of relaxation and well-being.

SOLARIUM
A large solarium equipped with sun loungers, table with chairs and shower. The ideal place to enjoy the tranquility of this elegant and intimate corner of Ravello, away from the city noises and immersed in the beauty of the unique panorama of the Amalfi Coast.
