“Home” for Italians has a very strong meaning. It means haven, comfort, pleasure, friends, family, and peace. When I designed our boutique hotel, I had those meanings in mind. I put care and passion in all the details, as it was my home.

The warmth of the lights, the peculiarity of each single ornament, the fabric of the sofas, the texture of the pillows. I laid on each single bed, I paused on each single chair, looking outside and around, admiring the ceiling, contemplating the incomparable beauty of each single room.

I wanted the history of the place to talk to me, to tell me its history, the incredible amount of people who walked on those floors before me. Our Palazzotto has its own ancient history, hundreds of years of untold stories.

I tried to restore it respecting its glorious past, trying to interfere as less as possible with its original beauty whilst exploiting its uniqueness and peculiarity. I tried to make it my home. I hope our hotel can inspire you with its history, culture, wine and beauty. Most importantly, I hope you can really feel at Home.

VISIT MATERA
One of the oldest cities in the world, a place of incomparable charm where history, culture and nature merge to create fabulous views: Matera has enchanted intellectuals and artists from all over the world over the years and continues to leave its visitors breath.

“Anyone who sees Matera cannot fail to be struck, its painful beauty is so expressive and touching” said Carlo Levi in front of the magnificent scenery of the city carved into the tuff.

From the Paleolithic to the present day, the city has never ceased to be inhabited, collecting in the rocks the evidence of every passage of man who, using the natural resources available, has managed to integrate perfectly into the territory without ever violating it.

It is for this reason that the famous Città dei Sassi was the first site in Southern Italy to be declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco. Its numerous rupestrian churches, the magnificent surrounding natural areas, the characteristic cave houses and the peasant traditions that still characterize it, are a priceless treasure that make it a privileged destination for national and international tourism.

Designated European Capital of Culture for 2019, Matera has also revealed many of its hidden treasures, such as museums, artists’ houses, historical and multimedia itineraries, concerts and site-specific performances created by local theater groups. An ancient city that has been able to give prestige to its heritage and, at the same time, renew itself and give life to new forms of experiential tourism.
