ACCOMMODATION
Experience luxury and relaxation in our collection of uniquely designed suites spread throughout the grounds of our romantic resort in Galle. Each bedroom suite is in a stand-alone building, except for the Garden and Tea Suites, thus ensuring maximum privacy and peaceful surroundings for guests.

Decorated in a different style, all of our villas near Galle Fort are filled with an eclectic and individual mélange of antiques as well as more contemporary pieces – sourced locally and from all over the world. As part of our Responsible Tourism policy, all suites have solar power heating for the hot water, we re-cycle our waste and we ask that you also act responsibly towards the planet we inhabit.

KK PLANTATION HONEYMOON VILLA 
Hide away from the world in this unique antique Joglo House imported from Java, featuring a heavenly lit-en-bateau bed, spacious seating area, ensuite cloakroom and two bathrooms.

One bathroom has a central shower with in-ground bath tub, and the other indoor bathroom, with shower and full size bath tub. The detailed architecture includes an incredible elaborately carved wooden ceiling, and woven palm walls interspersed with numerous french windows, offering a truly open feeling.

Take a cooling dip in the private infinity-edged curved swimming pool, and admire the stunning views overlooking Koggala Lake. should you wish, you can take your meals sitting under an ancient mango tree, around which wraps the swimming pool, or stroll up to the hotel – the choice is yours.

Please note that this KK Plantation Honeymoon Villa is the furthest from the main part of the hotel, so you can either walk, or we can transport you by tuk-tuk.

KK PLANTATION LUXURY POOL VILLA
Wtih far reaching views over the tea estate and jungle, this stunning new villa has everything. Entering via a shady pathway, the lobby has a banquette which can be used as a second bed. The huge bedroom has three full length french windows overlooking the verandah, plunge pool and tea estate.

Painted in pale blue, with Indian prints, the central focus is the dramatic metal four poster bed with canopied top. The bathroom has a bathtub and large walk-in shower, as well as double handbasins. Relax in the infinitely edged pool and enjoy spotting the peacocks and monkeys on the estate.

DINING
Indulge your taste buds with fine food that is fresh, delicious and healthy at Kahanda Kanda. We use only fruits, vegetables and herbs grown on the estate, supplemented with a selection of the freshest local produce to create simple, fusion dishes and classic Sri Lankan curries to pamper our guests’ palates with good health.

Two of the three resident chefs have trained in Thailand, and offer a mouth-watering range of Thai dishes. As important as the food itself, mealtimes are entirely at your discretion. At breakfast we offer a selection of local specialities as well as Western dishes.

Lunch can be three courses, or you can choose from our Snack Menu. Dinner is a gourmet affair and if you would like a romantic dinner, may I suggest we set up a table in the garden for supper under the stars?

For those who are hell-bent on losing weight, we offer a calorie-counted series of menus, but we do not enforce this on everyone! We are pleased to offer Cookery Classes for our guests wishing to learn the secrets of Sri Lankan or Thai cuisine. The Dining Pavilion is open to non-residents – we just ask that you call to make a reservation.

WEDDINGS IN SRI LANKA
Destination weddings are becoming increasingly popular and Sri Lanka is one of the world’s top three destinations where couples choose to get married. Kahanda Kanda, our Galle wedding resort is the perfect location for the the wedding of your dreams.

Incredibly stylish, completely exclusive and set against the stunning back drop of a tea estate. The team at our wedding hotel in Sri Lanka will design a wedding to suit your needs; big or small, traditional or contemporary the possibilities are endless.

Couples can choose a non-denominational civil service conducted by a Celebrant, with or without a Registrar for the leagalisation, and/or a traditional Buddhist ‘Poruwa’ ceremony. The more colourful ‘Poruwa’ ceremony can be tailored to your requirements.

Note: You cannot have a formal Christian wedding ceremony in a garden in Sri Lanka, only civil services or Buddhist ceremony. You can have a Christian blessing by a clergyman; however you will need to be in Sri Lanka months prior to meet with the minister.

Services conducted by a Celebrant take approximately 25 minutes with spoken Vows and readings, and traditional Buddhist ceremonies take up to 45 minutes. The choice is entirely yours.

ACTIVITIES
Galle Fort was established by the Portuguese in the C15th, and was completed by the Dutch 100 years later. The British came in the C18th, and in 1988 it was designated a World Heritage Site.

WHALE WATCHING
Between December and April, take a boat trip to see these amazing creatures just an hour or so off the southern coast. Whilst out spotting Blue Whales or Sperm Whales, you may well see Spinner Dolphins and Bottle Nosed Dolphins. A truly enthralling experience.

BOAT TRIP
Take a boat trip on Koggala Lake for approximately two hours, visiting Talathuduwa Temple Island, followed by a Spice Garden. Then back in the boat and on to a small island where you will meet a couple who harvest cinnamon. Finally in the boat you circle a Bird Sanctuary before returning across the Lake for the tuk tuk ride back to the hotel.

BIKE RIDE
Explore the area on bicycles, and experince the real Sri Lanka. We can arrange an escorted bike ride down to the coast, via paddy fields, finshing up at Wijaya for a swim and a cocktail.

TEA TRAIL
Visit nearby Handunugoda Tea Estate, to discover what goes in to making your favourite cuppa! Tour the factory, have a sample tasting and even see their speciality White Tea!

COOKERY CLASS
For those interested in learning more about Sri Lankan Rice and Curry, our Chefs will be happy to conduct a cookery class. Using recipes that have been handed down from generation to generation, this is a truly fascinating experience

RAIN FOREST
Visit one of the world’s 21 Biodiversity Hot Spots – Kanneliya Rainforest, The forest complex designated as a biosphere reserve in 2004 by UNESCO. The Kanneliya complex is the last large remainning rainforest in Sri Lanka.

SCUBA DIVING
There is a diving centre in Unawatuna, and also at Hikkaduwa, where you can explore an old shipwreck. Best months for diving are December through to April.

SURFING
For beginners, Weligama Bay is a great place to learn to surf and there are some good instructors. For the more experienced, there are plenty of other beaches in the area, renowned for their surf.

UDAWALAWA NATIONAL PARK
Visit Udawalawe National Park, which was created in 1972 to provide habitat for wild animals, especially elephants. Covering 120 square miles, the park is inhabited by a herd of approx 250 elephants, as well as many other mammals and birds

TEMPLES
There are literally hundreds of Buddhist temples in the area, the most interesting being Yatagala and Kataluwa. Well worth a visit, especially on Poya (full moon day).

YOGA
We have a lovely Yoga paviilon, nestling amongst the tea, and the perfect location for an early morning yoga session. We have mats and blocks, and we can arrrange for a local instructor to guide you.

DAY CRUISES
Enjoy one of our day time cruises on a fully crewed catamaran, either half a day or a full day. This can be combined with whale watching or just enjoying the ocean wave and some watersports thrown in for good measure! The boat can be hired for a private cruise, or a shared excursion.
