LA BASTIDE PARK
A PLAY OF LIGHTS AND COLOURS
Ancient olive trees, bright bougainvilleas, huge cypress trees, majestic agapanthus, ancient terraces, a botanical garden, Tuscan charm… the 8-hectare park is an idyllic and dreamlike Mediterranean setting for a pleasant stroll.

In the mornings, enjoy your breakfast in these surroundings, where the horizon blends seamlessly into the blue sky and sea, and experience true joie de vivre.

IN THE LIMELIGHT…
A PROVENÇAL MANOR HOUSE JOINS THE RELAIS & CHÂTEAUX…
This late 17th century Provençal property was acquired in the 1860s by John Taylor, a landscape gardener and later property magnate, who wanted the English to discover Cannes and the surrounding region.

He improved the property, adding a wing and landscaping the gardens, adding a hunting lodge at the centre of a large olive grove, which was 350 hectares at that time. His friend Joseph P. Kennedy, then United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom in London (1937-1940), regularly spent his family holidays at the property.

LA BASTIDE SAINT-ANTOINE
AND THE HEYDAY OF THE CÔTE D’AZUR
John Taylor’s daughter, who was married to Lord Montaigu, sold the house after the Second World War to Robert Labé, an ironmaster in Pont-à-Mousson.

Labé, who was very fond of fashionable parties, took advantage of the majestic setting of this beautiful property to organise fashion shows and host celebrities such as the Rolling Stones, who stayed here for a year during the 1970s.

Odette and Jacques Chibois acquired the property in 1996 to create a manor house reflecting their warm and family-friendly style. They were very careful to maintain its character, using ancient methods to restore the property, keep its character and give it new lease of life.

Four years later, La Bastide Saint-Antoine became a member of the prestigious Relais & Châteaux group, obtaining its fifth star in 2009 and entering into the highly selective group of French 5-star hotels. Jacques Chibois’ restaurant, which has won Michelin stars and Gault & Millau ‘toques’ and is a member of the Grandes Tables du Monde group, is appreciated worldwide by people who come to enjoy the excellent Mediterranean way of life in all its glory!

ROOMS & SUITES
Our rooms and suites are named after the picturesque villages in the Grasse region and encourage you to discover our surroundings. You can choose between two styles – traditional Provençal elegance or modern sophistication – with the same attention to discreet luxury and sophisticated comfort.

The Provençal rooms have a warm atmosphere allowing you to appreciate the regional charm: colourful painted wood, authentic furniture, embroidered bedspreads, 18th century terracotta flooring, terraces, fireplaces, spacious bathrooms with massage baths and showers, and high-end TV/hi-fi equipment.

The modern rooms, which also enjoy a warm atmosphere, are located in an extension to the hotel. They have sleek lines enhanced with a touch of pearl grey, combining marble and wooden features. Some have their own private jacuzzi on the terrace, others have a fireplace.

Suite
Two suites are available with a lounge area and terrace offering a view over the rooftops and the Massif de l’Esterel. A third suite has a large bedroom and entrance, a lounge with a fireplace and a lovely view over the garden.

Apartment
This spacious luxury apartment has a very large bedroom with a fireplace, a lounge, a dressing room and a large 55 m² panoramic terrace with a jacuzzi, providing an exceptional 360° view over the hinterland and the bay of Cannes.

A MICHELIN STARRED RESTAURANT & ITS EXCELLENT PAIRINGS!
A feast for the eyes. An incredible view of a deep blue ocean. A bright manor house surrounded by bougainvilleas and bignonia. A rural terrace nestled in a floral garden with lime and chestnut trees providing a cool shaded refuge in the summer. Pleasant rooms which are warm and simple…

Welcome to the sophisticated setting of a home where we cater for your every need. Your hosts, Odette and Jacques Chibois, invite their guests to relax in the peaceful surroundings as if they were at home.

THE ART OF GOOD PAIRINGS…
A SUBTLE BALANCE BETWEEN DISHES AND WINES!
The chef Jacques Chibois invites you to enjoy elegant, simple and precise cuisine, personalised with seasonal produce which highlights local delicacies and provides scope for pleasure, taste and beauty.

Alongside his sophisticated dishes, the head sommelier (Gault et Millau gold award in 2013, Philippe Faure-Brac award in 2014) offers a wine list with over 1,600 options, which naturally takes advantage of the local Provençal surroundings, but also excellent vintages from other regions in France.

Wine tastings are available with French, English and Japanese-speaking sommeliers.

A PASSIONATE MASTERPIECE!
A MIX OF COLOURS, FLAVOURS AND AROMAS…
Named a Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite et des Arts et des Lettres, winner of the Victoires des Chefs d’entreprises de la Côte d’Azur, a master restaurateur… Jacques Chibois is a very talented man.

Twice a day, the restaurant and its terrace become the stage for a perfectly orchestrated show where, depending on the season, you can enjoy one of his most famous recipes, such as garden citrus fruits with Kristal caviar, pan-fried foie gras escalopes with artichoke cream, butterflied lobster with an orange pulp, olive oil and basil emulsion, a truffle dome with a warm artichoke and baby spinach salad, roast veal fillet with truffle potatoes, new wave Mediterranean bass, a Vacherin domed cake…

You can also learn about the Chef’s favourite regional dishes in his books “La Provence comme on l’aime” and “Saveurs et parfums de l’huile d’Olive”, both available in the hotel boutique.

JACQUES CHIBOIS, A WAY OF LIVING!
FROM HAUTE-VIENNE TO ALPES-MARITIMES…
Born in Limoges in 1952 to mill owner parents who welcomed farmers looking for flour to their table d’hôtes, Jacques Chibois developed a taste for wonderful produce.

After his farming studies, he soon learned his future career path, with the support of his mother, and he started an apprenticeship at a Michelin starred restaurant near his home town.

AN EXCITING CULINARY JOURNEY
PEPPERED WITH MICHELIN STARS!
Now sure of his calling, Jacques Chibois started to travel around France in 1974, allowing him to work with some of the most famous Michelin starred chefs, including Jean Delaveyne, Roger Vergé, and Louis Outhier – chefs who he worked with for a year each on average.

His travels around France allowed him to meet Michel Guérard, who he worked with for five years after completing his apprenticeship. He was responsible for all of his television programmes in Paris.

During his military service, he worked as the private chef for a 4**** General, leaving the army as a Staff Sergeant. He then led kitchens at Club REGINE’s in Paris, New York and London, as well as hosting private dinners at Ministries.

In 1981, Jacques Chibois became Le Royal Grey Chef at the Grey d’Albion hotel, which was the first restaurant in Cannes to have 2 Michelin stars, 4 Gault et Millau ‘toques’ and Chef of the Year.

It was noted as the best restaurant in the Gault & Millau guide. Jacques Chibois supervised this collection of 4 restaurants and organised opening and closing dinners at the Cannes Film Festival.

LA BASTIDE SAINT-ANTOINE
AN AWARD-WINNING RESTAURANT IN ALPES-MARITIMES
After 5 years of research, in 1996 Jacques Chibois bought a Provençal country house nestled in an ancient olive grove, in the style of the Colombe d’Or in St Paul, which represents the Côte d’Azur way of living.

In 1997, the chef obtained 2 Michelin Guide stars and 4 Gault & Millau Guide “toques” in 2010. His flavourful, aromatic and light cuisine lifts the spirits and delights in the heart of Provence.

In this timeless location, as put so well by the food critic Gilles Pudlowski “this expert tutor is happy to present the food as he sees it, telling us about His Provence through the seasons, filling up our senses with a series of sublime dishes which form a happy symphony! “
