Leonardo Trulli Resort Locorotondo, Puglia - Italy

The tiny, upscale Leonardo Trulli Resort is surrounded by lush countryside, not too far from Locorotondo, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy and the most dynamic community in the Itria Valley.

Our lifestyles embody our search for the most profound wellness, thanks to our close contact with nature, and for rediscovering authentic values. Rosalba, the owner of Leonardo, makes all in the love of ancient parents and she gave a new light.

At the Leonardo Trulli Resort, you will make direct contact with the most welcoming part of Apulia: our Trulli and Villino in Liberty Style were finely restored, thanks to an attentively conservative intervention with precious improvements making them an ideal location to spend unique and romantic moments.

TRULLI
All the trulli of the Resort are authentic and original of the eighteenth century and fully equipped for your unforgettable trulli holidays. They were returned to the original raw stone after a wise conservative recovery.

Provided of all comforts, each room is equipped with air conditioning and underfloor heating. The furnishings are of high quality and all linen are in natural cotton, hand-embroidered by an artisanal manufacturer of Salento.

Each trullo overlooks a private garden, discreet and reserved, with outdoor showers, deckchairs and sun loungers, to enjoy the surrounding nature among the olive trees and the perfume of aromatic plants. External loudspeakers positioned in the garden spread music of early 1900.

THE VILLINO OF LEONARDO
The Villino was built for Leonardo in Art Nouveau style, seeking inspiration from nature while envisaging a novel and different way of living the countryside. The recent restoration has kept the magnificent scenery intact, highly respectful of this relationship so close to the land, simply listening to memories…, striving to feel the magic behind what’s visible before us, in an effort to restore in everyone the right to our wellbeing, experiencing moments of true happiness.

The Villino offers four rooms with a private bathroom on the ground floor, adjoining the sumptuous gardens that awaken the senses, and two other rooms on the first floor, featuring a large terrace where the view of the landscape lends itself to meditation.

The interior spaces are highlighted by finely decorated coffer vaulted ceilings, stuccoes and terrazzo floors that take guests pleasantly back in time, evoking simplicity and elegance.

CASA ROSALBA
Casa Rosalba, from 1800, is the country house with essential lines that most embodies the peasant thinking of that time, in fact in the Itria Valley it was built in a simple way with what was available, the “simple” stone. This is why this “nest” has challenged all seasons, always ready to welcome, because the stone always remains.

THE BREAKFAST
Our rich breakfast buffet includes organic products, tarts and delicious homemade biscotti, as well as yogurt, jams and fruit juices. For lovers of salty breakfast there is plenty of fresh local cheese, fresh eggs and cold cuts.

DINING
An authentic taste experience among the delicacies of the traditional cuisine. Our kitchen offers the dishes of the ancient Apulian traditions using the vegetables grown in the same gardens of the resort and seasonal products, freshly prepared every day and accompanied by excellent Apulian wines.

The dining room is surrounded by large windows overlooking the swimming pool, plant and trees. The tablecloths are refined with brightly colored underplates of the Grottaglie ceramists that well represent the fantasy of our gastronomic offer, interpreted by Francesco Cataldi, our Chef, always careful to enrich the traditional flavors with simple and unexpected aromatic accents.

THE RESTAURANT
An essential role of the residence is its cuisine, which speaks of the community, its history and culture, because eating is not just being content to consume food, but thinking it as well.

To better delight our palate and awaken the senses, the vegetable gardens at Il Villino di Leonardo produce tomatoes and tasty seasonal vegetables that blend perfectly with the extra virgin olive oil that is the quintessential fruit of this special land, both in vocation and quality.

The passionate cuisine at Leonardo also produces wonderfully tantalizing homemade pasta dishes and pastries, creating orecchiette, frise, taralli, focaccia, panzerotti and mignon biscuits…; and it highlights the superior quality meats of local farmers, wholesome fresh milk processed into cheese, freshly picked fruit enjoyed on the spot and also processed into jams, all of which follow simple rules that are based on consistency, transparency and respect.

ARTECIBO – THE FOOD EXPERIENCE
As a work of art, which envelops and amplifies all senses, the cuisine of the ArteCibo Restaurant creates emotions and tells the ancient culinary art of this heel of Italy, our Apulia. The author of this magic experience is the Chef Francesco Cataldi, awarded by the “Gambero Rosso” as an emerging Chef.

VEGETABLE GARDEN
Our chef cooks with organic quality products Km 0, such as vegetables picked from Leonardo garden, every day preparing different menus that follow the rhythm of the seasons. These are the ingredients which create the maximum pleasure of the palate. The sensory experience of total taste is completed by an excellent list of wines.

COOKING CLASS
The secrets of Apulian traditional cuisine explained in a cooking class to learn how to prepare the most authentic Apulian recipes. Those classes take place at our Retaurant, Leonardo Arte e Cibo, and are held by our chef, Francesco Cataldi. Before commencing this wonderful experience we pick the vegetables directly from our gardens.

SWIMMING POOL
Sunny all day, it is the place to relax and cool off on hot summer days. A drink or a snack by the pool is ideal to relax in the quiet of the Resort immersed in the silence of the surrounding countryside.

For a bit of rhythm just dive into the water: the underwater speakers radiate no-stop music that you can hear only if your head is underwater! The water of the pool is sterilised with sea salt rather than chlorine and this makes it more pleasant and fragrant on the skin.

THE PRIVATE GARDENS
Each trullo overlooks a private and reserved garden, with outdoor showers, deckchairs and sun beds, where you can enjoy the quietness of the nature all around among the olive trees and the scent of aromatic plants. External acoustic speakers placed in the garden play relaxing music of the twenties and the thirties.
