PANAREA & STROMBOLI
We leave from the port of Levante towards Panarea, the VIP island of the archipelago. Panarea is the oldest island of the Aeolian Islands and with the islets of Basiluzzo, Spinazzola, Lisca Bianca, Dattilo, Bottaro, Lisca Nera and the rocks of Panarelli and Formiche, it forms a micro-archipelago

Do not miss the feast of San Pietro, patron saint of the island which is celebrated on June 29th.The statue of the saint is carried on the shoulders of the faithful along the main streets of the island, the procession is accompanied by the band with prayer intervals.

The characteristic of this procession, which makes it fascinating and evocative, concerns the moment in which the statue is put on a boat and continues by sea. We stop for about an hour and leave again in the direction of Stromboli. The island is characterized by the lack of lighting and the unique Stromboli volcano in constant activity.

Until August  it was possible to climb the volcano with a compulsory guide (about 4 h), but due to the intense volcanic activity, climbing was prohibited. At about 20.00 the boat stops in Ginostra, under the volcano to admire the sciara of fire.

ALICIDI & FILICUDI
Alicudi is characterized by pebble and rocky beaches. The tour of the island is possible, but presents the risk of falling stones, moved by the wind or by wild goats, and requires swimming around some rock formations.

Going up the steep mule tracks, currently well maintained in summer by the Legambiente volunteers, you immerse yourself in the Mediterranean scrub made up of heather , caper, broom, olive tree, mastic, carob.

The fauna is very varied and rich; migratory birds such as pelican, purple heron, gray heron and pink flamingo appear in spring and autumn. Among the sedentary species there are the imperial crow, the wild pigeon, the mallard, the greater shearwater and the lesser shearwater, locally called araghiuni. Among the birds of prey the peregrine falcon, the lodolaio, the queen’s falcon and the cuckoo falcon. Among the mammals, the wild rabbit.

Traditional houses have a flat roof for collecting rainwater, which is conveyed into large cisterns placed alongside and below, and intercommunicating rooms side by side, which open onto terraces with masonry seats ( bissuoli ) and typical truncated columns. cone ( pulere ), on which the wooden beams of the pergolas rest, support for shading vines. The island is partly protected as it is part of a natural park with marked trails

LIPARI & SALINA
Lipari, the capital of the Aeolian Islands, is the largest in the archipelago. You arrive in Marina Lunga and walk along Corso Vittorio Emanuele, simply the Corso, to get to the old port of Marina Corta. Do not miss the visit to the Archaeological Museum located in the Castle of Lipari which has about fifty rooms, in which the archaeological materials are exhibited in chronological order.

You can admire precious materials from both the inhabited area and the funerary objects, vases, stones, tombstones and stone sarcophagi which testify to the evolution of the cult of the dead. In addition, ceramics of various types and shapes, theatrical masks and clay statues.

Absolutely to visit the Cathedral of San Bartolomeo, voted in 1084 and probably built in the Ruggerian period (1130 AD) and remodeled in various periods, up to 1861 with a late baroque style facade. Next to it are the remains of the Norman Monastery of the Most Holy Savior, with a very valuable cloister in which columns and capitals are partly reused from Roman monuments and partly of medieval construction.

Famous is the white pumice beach which, thanks to its white seabed, mainly composed of pumice stone sediments, is one of the most evocative of the Aeolian islands. The water is mild, of an intense turquoise, and is home to what were once the piers used to transport pumice.

Salina You arrive in Santa Marina which rises on the slopes of the Fossa delle Felci , where you can see a huge crater covered with shrub vegetation mainly composed of ferns. As soon as you arrive in Santa Marina you can admire the wonderful eighteenth-century church with its characteristic bell towers.

Do not miss a swim in Lingua, a pebble beach and crystal clear sea and Pollara beach, located under a steep cliff in the shape of an amphitheater overlooking the sea, is one of the most fascinating places in all the Aeolian Islands; to the north there is the “Balate” bay closed by the Perciato, a promontory where warehouses and shelters dug into the tuff are visible.

The cove is accessed via a steep staircase that crosses the Postman’s house, where the film of the same name was set. From this beach it is possible to admire the spectacular sunset recognized as one of the most beautiful in the world.

The sun is a wonderful deep red and is the backdrop to the spectacular natural attractions, just think of the faraglione, the arch in the foreground and the beautiful islands of Alicudi and Filicudi on the second floor.
