Overlooking the rolling hills of Tuscany, set in the province of Siena between Montepulciano and Pienza, the romantic Lupaia features a unique combination of nature and history.

Situated in the heart of the Val d’Orcia, it is strategically close to the most enchanting historical towns such as Siena, Arezzo, Florence and Perugia, offering at the same time the unique experience of being on a tranquil country estate that offers the serenity and solitude that has become so rare in this busy world.

Lupaia, a country estate in the heart of Tuscany, lays on foundations more than a thousand years old, with the main house and annex dating back to 1622.

The owners, an Austrian family who also manage the inn, have created an intimate and romantic hideaway with splendid views of medieval villages, vineyards and olive groves.

Lupaia is a country estate in the heart of Tuscany. A former goat farm on a hilltop, which had been left abandoned for 40 years, now welcomes guests from all over the world to discover this magical part of Italy.

THE HISTORY
Lupaia lays on foundations more than a thousand years old, with the main house and annex dating back to 1622. The 5 stone houses have been lovingly restored and welcome guests who wish to share the feeling of well-being that this special place conveys.

The current owners, Heidi and Christopher Mueller, who also manage the inn, spent many years looking for the perfect Tuscan hideaway, offering privacy and tranquility, coupled with splendid views of medieval villages, vineyards and olive groves.

The beautiful old lantern was found hidden away in the barn, restored to its original glory and placed next to the main entrance. Today, the bright red lantern is the symbol of Lupaia, welcoming our guests from all over the world.

ROOMS & SUITES
The unique style of our accommodations lies in the combination the old structures with modern day comforts.

Five ancient buildings have been carefully adapted and restored, to provide a haven of relaxation after a busy day of exploring Tuscany. Every room and suite is unique, each with lovingly selected details and all the comforts of a luxury hotel.

MASTER SUITE LUPAIA
Master Suite Lupaia is the biggest suite and located on the first floor of the main building.

It has two separate bedrooms with old wood beam ceilings and a shared bathroom with a free standing victorian bathtub and walk-in shower. The small private terrace provides shade on summer days and has a beautiful view.

SUITE MONTEPULCIANO
The suite Montepulciano is located on the entire first floor of one of our buildings. There are windows on all 4 sides, and a private terrace with breathtaking views of Montepulciano. The bright separate bathroom has walk-in shower and a free-standing Victorian tub.

DINING
The restaurant with its beautiful open kitchen is located in the main building of the estate, dating back to 1622. It truly is the heart of the hotel and welcomes guests from the early morning until late at night.

THE BREAKFAST
Every morning, our sumptuous breakfast buffet of local delicacies, homemade bread and cakes, and organic fruit and vegetables awaits you in the open kitchen.

Our staff are on hand to serve tea and coffee, outside in the morning sun or in the cozy dining room.

THE LUNCH
A light lunch selection of salads, panini and pasta is available and can be served anywhere in the hotel: in the restaurant, by the pool or in the privacy of your room.

THE DINNER
The open kitchen truly comes alive in the afternoon, when Chef Andrea starts preparing the dinner menu, and the smells of fresh herbs and roasted meat fill the air.

Dinner is served every day and sittings are available from 7-9 pm.

THE SWIMMING POOL
Our pool offers wonderful panoramic views of the surrounding hills and the sunset. Unwind after a busy day of exploring, or spend the whole day just listening to the wind in the trees. Drinks, light lunches and refreshments are served poolside.

THE GARDENS
Our beautiful gardens throughout the property showcase the nature of Tuscany: olive and cypress trees, wild herbs and roses. The gardens feature hammocks and many private sitting areas, all with beautiful views of the Tuscan countryside.

THE SALON
Located above the restaurant, the salon is the living room of the hotel and available for hotel guests all day long. Choose a book or magazine from the library, or pick one of the family games. On cooler evenings, we light the open fireplace to create the perfect setting for a pre-dinner drink.
