Designed to the last detail, The Malabar House effortlessly combines the old and new. Our 17 rooms & suites blend tradition and contemporary design. The feel is small, cozy and personal, a heaven amidst this vibrant yet historical harbor city.

The Malabar House is a documented part of Fort Cochin’s historical fabric. Its history dates back to 1755, when Jan Herman Clausing, a Dutch, bought the property from Mathew Henrich Beyls. Subsequently owned by spice traders, tea traders & bankers, in 1997 it became Fort Cochin’s first boutique heritage hotel.

Rooms & Suites

The Malabar House is more than a highly designed heritage hotel. It is an art hotel, with a carefully curated collection highlighting Kerala’s composite culture as a passage between East & West. All 17 rooms & suites are superbly crafted and have stunning colour schemes. They showcase antique and contemporary objects d’art.

6 double deluxe rooms on the ground floor 5 double deluxe twin bedded rooms on the ground floor. All rooms showcase genuine antiques, original works of art & crafted design. They open up to terraces, sit outs & garden. The average room size is 30 sqm. The rooms differ since The Malabar House is a heritage building.

5 roof garden suites on the 1st floor with own terraces, overlooking the patio garden or the historic Parade Ground. All suites showcase an eclectic collection of antiques, genuine works of art & crafted design. The average Roof Garden Suite size is 54sqm. Peaceful maisonette towards the patio with a living room on 1st floor anda bedroom, bathroom & private terrace on 2nd floor. The curated collection displays Kerala’s arts & crafts from the past to the present. The Malabar Suite size is 90sqm.

Dining

The alfresco Malabar Junction and Divine, the wine lounge  invite you to a vibrant blend of  fine dining, performing arts & the world of Indian wines.

The Malabar Junction at The Malabar House is the crossroads between East & West, innovative Keralan & Mediterranean influenced cuisine. We use only the best of local produce & prefer organic products. Lunch : 12.30 to 3pm, Dinner : 7 to 11.00 pm

Divine, our wine lounge, creates a magical setting • to reveal & celebrate the emergence of Indian wines. The new horizon of tapas, a degustation of Eastern & Western favours, compliments the experience. We open 11 am to 11 pm.

The patio invites you to a vibrant blend of candlelight dinners and live performances of carnatic music. The daily performances start at 8 pm and are subject to weather conditions

The Spa

Purespa is more than a wellness program: Its ayurveda treatments & oil massages focus on rejuvenation, better flexibility, reduction of fat tissues & offer cures for rheumatism, arthritis, back pain, headache & stress related disorders. Purespa offers a distinct wellness journey to relax, detox, tone your body and enhance beauty.

The Rejuvenation Retreat is based on ayurveda principles, it revitalises body, mind and soul. Yoga for mind, therapies for body & meditation for soul form together a step by step approach to tone and improve your body & mind balance. The unique Detox Retreat is compiled to detox, stimulate and enhance the circulation and revitalise your entire body.

We developed a 7 to 14 days flexible & adaptable program. All meals follow Slow Food principles as recommended by the therapist. The treatments are supported by daily Hatha yoga and meditation.

The ideal duration of a complete Malabar Ayurveda Retreat at purespa is 7 to 14 days. However even one or more massage treatments during your stay will relax & tone your body and give you an insight in an ancient South indian health & wellness tradition.
