Set around two lagoons, shaded by the a canopy of ebony and mahogany trees, award-winning Mfuwe Lodge is the perfect place to ease into Luangwa life. Enjoy excellent game viewing, recharge your batteries, or start and finish your journey to our Bushcamps.

The open plan reception, lounge, dining, and bar areas overlook two lagoons and the wallowing hippo and thirsty wildlife will keep you enthralled. 18 air-conditioned chalets are scattered around the gardens and secluded verandas outside each provide a lovely vantage point for the comings and goings.

Inside, each chalet has a comfortable sitting room, imperial King or twin beds, and a spacious en suite bathroom with walk-in shower. The suites have an additional seating area upstairs, and the family rooms have ample space for two children.

This region of the park is renowned for its prolific game, and giraffe, hippos, buffalo, antelope, and crocodile are constant visitors to Mfuwe Lodge’s lagoon. Walking safaris can be arranged on request, but the majority of outings are game drives. In November, the local elephants regularly wander right through the lobby, lured by a nearby wild mango tree.

THE PHIL BERRY CENTRE
Situated in the shady grounds of Mfuwe Lodge, the The Phil Berry Centre comprises a library and photographic studio. Our guests have full use of both spaces and the outside decks, to read and relax, connect with the outside world, or edit photos in a quiet, reflective environment.

The spaces also suit a variety of events, including meetings, seminars, workshops and functions. With sliding doors, opening onto a large deck, black-out curtains that are ideal for presentations, and a second viewing deck, the rooms can be configured to accommodate the needs of individual groups and events.

At night, a whole new cast of characters fills the landscape of the South Luangwa. With the help of a spotlight, take to the road and see what you can find…

As the sun sinks below the horizon, there is nothing better than finding a spectacular spot in the heart of the bush for an ice-cold drink and something to nibble on. Each year at Mfuwe Lodge, whole families of elephants visit between late October and mid-December to feast on the fallen fruits from the large Wild Mango tree in the lodge grounds.
