Welcome to our French Polynesian island retreat, hidden away on a remote motu in the southwest corner of Tikehau atoll. Ninamu is a unique resort with only 10 handcrafted bungalows which ensures all of our guests receive a personal, intimate experience.

Our small slice of paradise serves as the perfect launch pad for luxury seeking outdoor enthusiasts; divers, fishermen, kiteboarders, surfers, paddlers, or anyone who simply loves relaxing in and around tropical waters that are bursting with life and energy.

Hidden away on a private island in the southwest corner of the atoll, Ninamu (Nee-Nah-Moo) Resort is a luxury minded outdoor enthusiasts’ retreat.

We cater to surfers, divers, fishermen, kite surfers, paddle boarders or anyone who loves cruising in tropical waters that are bursting with life and energy. Everyone should experience a pristine atoll in the middle of the South Pacific once in their life.

Tikehau Atoll
About 200 miles north by northeast of the main French Polynesia island of Tahiti lies the Tikehau Atoll, a spectacular crown of coral and sand 16 miles long and 14 miles wide.

The atoll is a thin white line of coral, sand and palm tree, no more than half a mile wide, but it encircles a lagoon of pristine, otherworldly beauty – a place Jacques Cousteau visited in 1987 and found a greater variety of fish species than any other location in French Polynesia.

Accomodations
Ninamu Resort features eight hand crafted bungalows, with a total of ten rooms. Each bungalow is built with natural, locally sourced materials. Every bungalow is unique in design and character, and can accommodate different guests needs; from large families and groups of friends, couples, and solo travelers.

Teahupoo
Teahupoo is a luxury beachfront bungalow with a covered outdoor deck and private beach access offering stunning views of the surrounding garden and the sea. The fully air-conditioned loft style living and sleeping area sleeps up to two guests in a queen bed.

The adjacent courtyard bathroom comes with a private dipping pool under the stars. Private outdoor spaces include the beachfront deck and a spacious roof top lounge. Both the loft and rooftop lounge are equipped with state of the art sound system plus a ceiling mounted projector with pull-down screen in the indoor living area.

The room rate includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner, free use of kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling gear, sun loungers, beach towels, pool table, and wifi.

Kahaia
Kahaia is a two story waterfront bungalow with a covered outdoor deck and private beach access offering stunning views of the surrounding garden and the sea. It sleeps up to 4 guests, both sleeping areas come with either a queen or two single beds.

The standard configuration has a queen bed in the double height space on the ground floor and two single beds in the open upstairs loft. The private bathroom is accessed from the common area on the ground floor. The room rate includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner, free use of kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling gear, sun loungers, beach towels, pool table, and wifi.

Oaha
Oaha is a two story waterfront superior bungalow with an outdoor deck and private beach access offering stunning views of the surrounding garden and the sea. It sleeps up to 4 guests. Both sleeping areas come with either a queen or two single beds.

The standard configuration has two single beds in the general living area on the ground floor, and a queen bed in the private bedroom upstairs. The private bathroom is accessed from the common area on the ground floor.

 The room rate includes: breakfast, lunch, dinner, free use of kayaks, paddle boards, snorkeling gear, sun loungers, beach towels, pool table, and wifi.

Dining
Living off the grid doesn’t mean going hungry, or skimping on food. In fact, many guests have told us the cuisine at Ninamu was the best they had during their stay in French Polynesia. We follow the principles of permaculture, and all of our meals start with fresh, local, organic ingredients.

All of your meals at Ninamu are included with the price of your reservation. Breakfasts typically consist of cereals, homemade bread, organic honey, yogurts, jams, bacon, sausages, and eggs cooked to order.

For lunches and dinners we source organic produce, poultry, beef, and pork products. Fish is caught (often times by you!) and prepared daily. You’ll dine on mahi mahi, yellow fin, wahoo, bonito and more.

Activities
Ninamu is the perfect base to explore the Tikehau atoll. Join one of our sailing excursions, enjoy action packed activities or simply relax on a remote beach – Ninamu has got you covered!

We offer a variety of paid atoll excursion each day. Destinations and activities vary pending on weather, but ranges from snorkeling with manta rays and exploring the coral gardens, visiting the magnificent blue lagoon and looking for big fish at the pass.

If relaxing by the lagoon on our pink sand beach, or enjoying a tropical drink while lounging in one of our private beach cabanas sounds more your speed, we’re happy to indulge you.

Snorkel & Scuba
For seasoned vets and first timers alike, Ninamu Resort offers unparalleled snorkeling experiences. Your first peek under water at Ninamu Resort is an unforgettable experience. The clarity of of the water, and the unimaginable abundance of life is almost unbelievable.

The Tuamotu atolls are world renowned for their undersea life. On a visit in 1987, Jacques Cousteau’s research group made a study of Tikehau’s lagoon and discovered that it contains a greater variety of fish species than any other place in French Polynesia.

Huge schools colorful of fish, and intricately sculpted coral heads wait for you just off our beach. Swimming with manta rays, sea turtles, and even dolphins are just a short boat ride away.

SCUBA diving in Tikehau is world class. While Ninamu Resort does not offer SCUBA services, guests can book with Tikehau Diving. Tikehau Diving picks up guests directly from Ninamu Resort and ferries to the various dive sites around the atoll.

Fishing
We don’t do fishing at Ninamu. We’re all about catching. After their first trip out, more than a few of our guests have proclaimed fishing has never been so fun. What’s not to love? You’ll catch trevally, tuna, wahoo, snapper, mahi mahi, bone fish, and marlin just to name a few.

Whether you’re casting in the shallows, spear fishing in the pass, or trolling in deep water, we’ve got the gear and the know how to get fish on your line. Best of all, you get to eat what you catch. Check out check out our dining page for the complete sea-to-table experience.

Paddle
Paddling is a perfect introduction to the waters around Ninamu Resort. We offer a host of options, from kayaks, to paddle boards and even an outrigger canoe.

The system of reefs, sandbars and channels near the Ninamu create a perfect, protected paddling environment that invites atoll exploration. Put on your sunblock, and head out across the reef. There are dozens of secluded sandbars and motu within a 10 minute paddle from our beach.

Wind Sports
Wind is a consistent feature of the Tuamotu Atolls. The tradewinds blow year round, averaging 15 knots or better, making Ninamu Resort an ideal destination for kiteboarders and windsurfers.

Launch and land from our sandy beach, exploring the lagoon and adjacent sandbars. Please bringing your own windsurfing or kiteboarding equipment. Contact us directly if you have any specific questions.

Atoll Exploration
Whether you’re strolling around our private island, or venturing across the lagoon, there’s much to see and discover at Ninamu Resort. Explore the sand spit, a mile long shoal of shallow water and pink sand beaches. Tour bird island, and Eden, an organic farm. Take a bike tour of Tuherahera village. Just don’t forget to stop in at le magasin for an ice cream sandwich.

Relax
Something special happens when you visit the Tuamotu. The stark landscape, solitude, and infinite horizons refocus your universe inward. Relax and reflect. Unwind in one our private beachfront day beds. Float in the lagoon. Watch a never ending train of clouds drift across the sky casting shadows on an ever changing aquatic landscape.
