Michelin-starred technique with Australian attitude
Head chef Chris Rhoney hails from Lancashire in the UK, and one of his first chef roles was with Andrew Simmonds as pastry junior sous from 2009 to 2012, at the Michelin-starred Danesfield House Hotel & Spa in the UK.
Rhoney’s move to Australia in 2014 began with three amazing years at Alla Wolf-Tasker’s iconic Lakehouse Restaurant in Daylesford, where he started as chef de partie, but was given the opportunity to develop his skills and creativity in the pastry department and gained the position of sous chef and head pastry chef.

Your gourmet picnic includes a range of chef prepared delights that change with the seasons produce. An example picnic includes a chilled bottle of sparkling wine (upgrade to champagne available), mineral water, cheese platter & locally sourced condiments, house made quiche, sandwiches and some sweet treats.
Couples day spa experience
Enjoy a relaxing couples day spa experience at our Spa Anise here at Spicers Vineyards Estate. Our ultimate couples treatment begins with our ritual essential oil foot bath and a relaxing full body massage. Whilst blissfully relaxed, treat your feet with a bamboo foot exfoliation and rich lashings of spearmint and ginkgo.
Finally your hands will be refreshed with a raspberry and rose exfoliation followed by an exotic moisture boost of guava and Moroccan rose. This couples treatment wouldn’t be complete without a glass of sparkling and a fresh fruit platter afterwards.
Hunter Valley Balloon Flight
Take the flight of a lifetime over Spicers Vineyards Estate and Australia’s oldest wine region, the Hunter Valley, with a sunrise hot air balloon flight.
Launching from your designated site, your Beyond Ballooning balloon will float above the picturesque cellar doors of Pokolbin, Lovedale, Rothbury or Broke to 2000 feet or more where you will feel the sensation of no movement at all as you glide effortlessly through the crisp morning air.
Your experience includes a 1 hour balloon flight, digital photo package and an à la carte breakfast to finish off your exhilarating morning.
Wine Country to Coast Heli Tour
Go beyond the vines and explore the stunning wine country from up above in your very own helicopter tour of the Hunter Valley through to Newcastle.
Starting in the Hunter Valley you will take off from the Cessnock Aerodrome and fly above the myriad of vines, olive groves, wineries and the Brokenback Mountain Range.
From here you will pass over Lake Macquarie, Australia’s largest coastal salt water lagoon then along the spectacular Newcastle coastline before returning back to Cessnock.
