Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru is above all a story of love – the love I have for the ancestral land of my mother’s family. I was born and raised in Florence, but felt the pull to return to the countryside of the Costa Smeralda where my grandfather used to raise livestock.

You can become part of this story too, because the welcome we extend to you is fundamental to how we are. Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru was the home of sharecroppers. I can still remember when my mother and father would bring me here as a baby to gather the produce offered up by this fertile land.

I was enchanted by the countryside of Arzachena and knew it would always be a part of me. My career as a lawyer finally gave way to my desire to return to Stazzo, to give it a new life and so I decided to restore it into the 4-star resort it is today.

It wasn’t always an easy task, as I wanted to renovate it without changing it and keep Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru feeling like home. So I kept all the original spaces and took care of every piece of furniture myself, every detail of the resort, just as if it were my own home… because it really is!

LOCATION
The 4-star Resort Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru in Arzachena is sited right in the heart of the Costa Smeralda, between the wild countryside of Gallura and the most renowned Sardinia beaches. Spend your holiday here and you can have it all: the peace of nature, trips to historic nuraghe and archeological areas, the beautiful sea of the Costa Smeralda and Maddalena Archipelago.

ROOMS & SUITES
Any hotel will say they want you to feel at home. But it’s only here at the Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru Resort in Arzachena that you’ll actually be at home: one like no other on the Costa Smeralda.

To make you feel fully at home, we have foregone typical hotel furnishings and instead filled our rooms with items from the family: each wardrobe, writing desk, trunk and sewing machine, the table and wrought-iron bedstead all once belonged to our grandparents and great-grandparents, each made with care by local craftsmen all those years ago.

We want you to wake up each morning surrounded by things that have meaning and fall asleep each night happy to be at Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru.

SUITE WITH PRIVATE POOL
The Suite with Private Pool at our resort in Sardinia combines innate elegance, an astonishing view of the Gallura countryside and the luxury of your own exclusive pool. Fully renovated and embellished by custom made furniture in stylish colors, this suite embodies the epitome of relaxation.

Between day trips and tanning at the beach, pamper yourself with a rejuvenating shower with steam bath and enjoy the absolute silence on your veranda. Retreat to your private pool whenever you want, nestled in the emerald greenery, and discover unexpected glimpses of Beauty.

Layout: living room with two sofa beds, bedroom with queen sized bed (170 x 200 cm), hallway with mini bar and luggage storage space, large bathroom with shower and steam bath, second bathroom with shower, ample and equipped scenic veranda (20 m2), private pool.

FAMILY SUITE
It’s hard to resist the temptation to spend the whole day in this suite, rather than going out to catch some sun or visit some ancient Sardinian “nuraghe” along the Costa Smeralda.

If you’re traveling as a family, you’ll appreciate the separate bedroom of the Family Suite where the kids can play or rest. Or if you’re here just with your partner, you’ll enjoy long evenings sitting out on the veranda, counting the stars. Between a sip of Vermentino wine and the soft breeze caressing the olive trees in the garden, you’ll be taken by the magic of the view.

SUITE
The Suites at Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru are not only furnished with exquisite taste, they are also large and practical. After a day at the beach or out on a trip, it feels good to return to your Suite and enjoy some peace and quiet on the veranda.

If you feel a little lazy, just spend the afternoon at one of our two pools, swimming under the cloudless Sardinian sky. Layout: day area with double daybed, night area with double bed (170 x 200), passageway with mobile fridge bar, suitcases, large bathroom with shower, spacious furnished veranda with a view (20 sqm).

CLASSIC ROOM
The Classic Rooms have been gently restored, maintaining all the charm and warmth of Stazzo. These might be our smallest rooms but they are full of surprises: a walk-in closet to hold your cases and bags, dresses, and shoes, and a hydromassage shower in the modern stone bathroom.

Ideal for washing away the sand and fatique from an afternoon at the beach or pool. Layout: bedroom with walk-in closet; bathroom with dressing room and hydromassage shower; furnished veranda with a view.

VILLAS ON THE COSTA SMERALDA
Our villas on the Costa Smeralda are like stories just waiting to be heard. Both Lo Stazzo and Il Pagliaio have been lovingly restored from the homes where the sharecroppers once lived and worked.

In the villa Lo Stazzo, the wooden loft above your head was where salami, sausages and smoked cheese were hung, while your room is where the sharecropper’s family would gather, to share a meal or stay warm beside the fire. The villa Il Pagliaio was used to store straw or for crushing grapes.

VILLA LO STAZZO
The Villa Lo Stazzo of the 4-star Resort Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru in Costa Smeralda was originally the house of the farmer. To reveal its full rustic, familiar character during its restoration we kept all the original materials and furnished it with period furniture from our own family.

Take a morning dip in the outdoor pool behind the villa and sit in the spacious sun area, and if you find it a little chilly in the evening, warm yourself by the old fireplace. There’s no better place to enjoy Gallura and the Costa Smeralda.

VILLA IL PAGLIAIO
Once used as a hay barn, this two-story Gallura-style building is now the villa Il Pagliaio at the 4-star resort of Stazzo Lo Ciaccaru on the Costa Smeralda. The ground floor is for relaxing: the living room with fireplace and the dining room furnished with period furniture and other pieces in country-chic style, and the kitchen. On the upper floor there are two clean and quiet double bedrooms, and there is also a second bathroom with shower.

To enjoy more privacy, there is a third bedroom on the ground floor with a large bathroom with shower and jacuzzi, ideal for a hot bubble bath when you return from the sea. For candle-lit evenings outside there is a nice wrought-iron table and chairs set amidst the ancient olive trees.

LA CIMINEA RESTAURANT
The Ciminea Restaurant on the Costa Smeralda offers a cuisine that’s not just mediterranean but fundamentally Sardinian. As we couldn’t imagine you leaving this special place without having tried all the tastes and smells of Sardinia, we have chosen to offer a cuisine that reflects our people and style of life: frank, direct, genuine, and fragrant.

We bring to the table the best that the region has to offer: from local producers we buy Sardinian pork, sheep’s cheese, seasonal smoked cheeses, honey, and fresh fish; we grow our own herbs and fruit, making our own jams from our lemons, oranges, figs, and prickly pears.

BAR WITH A VIEW
Our new bar at Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru is a beautiful covered terrace with a view over the hills of the resort. We have furnished it in the hotel style with the addition of lanterns and candles, to create a relaxed atmosphere perfect for relaxing each evening with a local wine or mint cocktail.

TRIPS ON SEA OR LAND
Boat trips to the Maddalena Archipelago or hidden spots along the Emerald coast; trekking and nordic walking in the hinterland, climbing or horseback riding along deserted beaches. Choose where you want to go and how you want to get there, and we’ll arrange the ideal trip for you.

THINGS TO SEE ON THE COSTA SMERALDA
Think that the Costa Smeralda is all about high fashion and jet setters? Then you don’t know the world of Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru, of the countryside and archeological surprises of the Gallura region. We’ll be happy to help give you directions and suggestions for exploring each corner of the Cosa Smeralda, from the better-known parts to those far from the tourist ferries.

COSTA SMERALDA’S BEACHES
The Costa Smeralda is a succession of white beaches and incredible cliffs ideal for windsurfing and diving, canoeing and kite surfing. Dive into the turquoise sea off the Spiaggia del Principe in Romazzino, an inlet protected by dense Mediterranean vegetation.

In addition to the five beautiful beaches of Punta Capriccioli and their crystalline sea and pink rock formations, don’t miss Liscia Ruja, the white beaches of Pevero and at Cala di Volpe, a large bay of four other beautiful beaches.

BAJA SARDINIA
This spot once just had the Monti di Mola and a small church surrounded by wilderness, but today this is one of the most popular destinations in the world for water sports enthusiasts and travelers. By day it’s a quiet seaside resort and in the evening it comes alive with clubs, restaurants, and open-air discos.

PORTO CERVO
Porto Cervo is one of the most trendy and refined Italy destinations. Watch the luxury yachts in the harbor, book a candelight dinner in one of its elegant restaurants serving fresh fish and champagne, wait the dawn in one of its chic nightclub. This is the center of Costa Smeralda movida. A walk along the long Promenade Du Port is a must, browsing the boutiques along the renowned little squares of Porto Cervo.

MADDALENA ARCHIPELAGO
One of Italy’s finest national parks, created in 1994, the Maddalena Archipelago lies in front of Baja Sardinia. As well as Maddalena, the other islands include Caprera, Santo Stefano, Budelli, Santa Maria, Razzoli, Spargi, as well as smaller ones.

The sea of this archipelago are an amzing mix of acquamarine, turquoise, and emerald green. You have to visit the beach of Rosa di Budelli, where the sand is made up of very fine shell dust and gives off a rosy hue.

STELLA MARIS CHURCH
Overlooking the Gulf of Porto Cervo is the charming Stella Maris Church, designed in the 1960s by Michele Busiri Vici, one of the architects who, together with the Aga Khan, gave life to the so-called “Gallura style”. The bright white church stands out with its soft, sinuous shapes against the blue sea dotted with luxurious yachts moored in the tourist harbor.

The iron cross and large monoliths that support the portico echo Moorish art, setting it apart from traditional stereotypes. The location offers a magnificent panoramic view, while inside the church is the El Greco masterpiece ‘Mater Dolorosa’.

GOLF
The Pevero Golf Club is one of Sardinia’s best-known clubs and is at Cava di Volpe, just 20 minutes by car from the Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru Resort: 18 holes of varied diificulty offer breathtaking views over the sea and inland hills during your game.

ARZACHENA
Just five minutes from Stazzo, the comune of Arzachena includes a charming historic town center known for its white stone and pink granite houses. Don’t miss a visit to the old Church of Santa Maria della Neve and the Archeological Park: among the largest and most important in all of Sardinia and which includes several nuraghe remains, necropolises and the Giant’s Grave of Coddu Vecchiu, recognisable by its high stele and dating to 2,500 BC.

THE NURAGHE OF LA PRISGIONA
The nuragic complex of La Prisgiona is one of the largest and best preserved in the north of Sardinia. Dating back to the 14th and 11th centuries BC, it houses the remains of a village with over 90 huts spread over 5 hectares. A visit here is like going back in time, and you can see sacred buildings, shops, and tombs among the ruins.

CODDU VECCHIU
This is one of the most famous monumental tombs in Sardinia, dating back to the 2nd millennium BC. Its characteristic monoliths embedded in the ground testify to its importance to the community, who came here to pay homage to the dead. The structure’s unique shape might signify the head of the ancient god Taurus, or a woman in labor, as an allusion to death seen as rebirth.
