Our Facilities

Location
The nation’s airport is well connected with major hubs around the world. Located on a separate island from the capital of Male, the airport serves as the main gateway into the Maldives for guests.
The airport offers souvenir and duty-free shops, restaurants, medical facilities, prayer room and provides banking and postal services.
The resort arranges to take you by car to the Vakkaru Maldives private lounge in the seaplane terminal. Here you can relax while enjoying complimentary light drinks, snacks and WiFi.
The Vakkaru Maldives team will do their best to arrange your resort transfer within two hours of arriving at the lounge. While departing guests will be transferred to the airport at least three hours in advance of their scheduled international flight departure time.
Seaplanes fly in daylight hours only and your transfer to the resort is a 30-minute flight north-west of the airport. If you are arriving in the evening or simply prefer, you may choose a domestic flight to the local airport in Baa Atoll (Dharavandhoo), a journey of 20-minute followed by a 30-minute speedboat ride to the island.
About Maldives Island
The island nation is unique in terms of geography and topography, located on top of a vast underwater mountain range the Maldives consists of 1,200 pearl string like islands and sandbanks spread over 26 natural atolls and covering almost 300sq km.
The country has around 200 local inhabited islands and 140 “resort islands”, while the rest are uninhabited. All islands are encompassed by a lagoon of crystal clear waters, protected by a reef structure.
The “one island, one resort” concept is unique to the Maldives with the land mass of each island being anywhere between 1 – 2 kilometers in total circumference.
Weather
A tropical serenity located on the equator, the Maldives has a tropical monsoon climate with two seasons influenced by the monsoons: dry and wet.
Between May and October intermittent rain showers occur followed by stronger winds, while from November to April is a drier season with lower humidity. The Maldives is a perfect destination with a year-round idyllic climate with temperatures between 23°C and 32°C.
History and Culture
A unique country of turquoise lagoons and soft white sandy beaches, Maldivians inherited ancient mythology passed by word of mouth through generations. These myths cover fascinating stories on various aspects of island life.
Having been greatly influenced by India, Sri Lanka, The Middle East and North Africa whose countrymen visited the Maldives while traversing through the trading routes of the central Indian Ocean.
The Maldivian culture is rich and vibrant due to the infusion of these various cultural elements. One of the most famous cultural displays seen in the Maldives is the “Boduberu”.
Boduberu performers wear a traditional sarong and white shirt. A Boduberu performance of chanting and dancing barefoot on the sand will have you tapping along with the drumbeats.
