There are many private islands in Maldives, but only very few of them are truly private, owned by one person. Velaa Private Island is such a case. The owner, Jiri Smejc, has spent countless weeks in Maldives both on holidays and while taking his business trips from Europe to Asia.

The islands became his true passion: many of them being beautiful, but each of them coming short on some part of the visitor experience he valued. That’s why he decided to build the Velaa Private Island.

An island meeting his ideas what a luxurious private resorts hould be. An island keeping a real privacy for its guests but at the same time versatile enough to provide number of first-class enjoyment opportunities. After all, the owner is the one who will spend most time on the island and wants to enjoy it for years, not only for a week or two.

Thoughtfully designed and thoroughly tested, our villas were conceived as a place of effortless comfort and perfect escape. Amongst the largest in the islands, our private residences were designed with endless space to share your most meaningful occasions.

NIKA RESIDENCE BY PATRICIA URQUIOLA
Accommodating up to 10 guests, Nika offers the ultimate designer beach villa retreat. Vertical wall panels have been crafted with materials such as raffia and natural wood, and earthy textiles facilitate a natural indoor and outdoor flow.

The design creates a warm, yet stylish atmosphere, arranged with hand-crafted, minimalistic furniture pieces; a sprawling 5 meter dining table cut from two pieces of rare black marble slab; and positioned beneath a stunning, beaded Craaft chandelier.

VELAA PRIVATE RESIDENCE
Perched on a private beach, this family-size residence offers elegant, contemporary design and 1,350 square meters of usable interior and exterior space—including two terraces, an infinity pool and a dramatic courtyard.

Carefully curated interiors have been arranged with privacy in mind – each of the four bedrooms face the ocean. Two have generous balconies and two open onto the pool with indoor and outdoor bathrooms connected by a garden atrium. The large private beach is flanked by twin gazebos ideal for dining, relaxing and entertaining. Behind the living area, a gym and spa room offer a quiet space to retire.

BEACH POOL HOUSE
Flanked by tropical foliage, with a sprawling terrace and double-sized private pool, these villas have two large bedrooms with both with indoor bathrooms and outdoor garden bathroom areas.

An expansive living room offers a retreat during the day and a social hub in the evenings, complete with a bar and high stools. Rattan swinging chairs hang in the light filled bedrooms which open onto the terrace.

OCEAN POOL HOUSE
In a domain unto its own, this over water pool house is elegantly designed with tasteful elements such as louvered privacy shutters and cathedraled ceilings. The two bedrooms benefit from uninterrupted ocean views and the bathrooms feature walk-in cupboards and circular baths.

The dining area opens onto a spacious deck with two gazebos, one with a sunken hot tub and the other with luxurious daybeds and plush cushions. The sun deck invites you to relax and cool off in the private pool, or step directly into the ocean for a secluded swim.
