The Concept
Our concept of home, of Home in fact, is profound, like our roots, which sink into this magnificent land, made of rock shaped by the wind and the sea.

We saw the birth of the Costa Smeralda, we followed it closely, Mario Carola , our father, was a Gallurese, an entrepreneur who started from nothing and became one of the most esteemed in Costa Smeralda, realizing the projects of the best architects, real and own works of art built on a virgin and uncontaminated territory like few others in the Mediterranean.

The Relais Villa Carolastands on a hill in front of the sea, with simple and irregular shapes that seem to move in a spectacular environmental context, like all the constructions of the Costa Smeralda that “do not emerge from nature: they are inside nature”, “they must blend in”, ” They must see, not be seen. They must speak in a low voice, not scream ”.

The external discretion from the plasters with natural pastel-colored pigments, inside the Home explodes in a strong personality and characterization, bringing nature inside with curves, vaulted ceilings, twisted juniper beams, niches and artistic details made using rare and precious materials modeled by local workers.

We have naturally made this way of welcoming our own, we have recreated comfort inside the Home using the materials of our land including granite and unfinished wood, letting in the best light: the natural one, inserting furnishings and accessories, suitable for make daily life easy and organized, not to provide service but to create well -being, creating the right balance to ensure the comfort of the people who occupy the space, because a comfortable homeincreases the quality of life and of those around us.

By placing man and his needs at the center of our choices in living in a comfortable environment and place. This desire for comfort and well-being has instinctively and with simplicity guided all our choices, from the furnishings to the fabrics, the sponges and the sheets belong to the Frette Premium line, up to the selection of each glass, each napkin to welcome those who choose Relais Villa Carola Home , in a context full of discreet but essential details.

We then added the technology that makes it easier to use the house, but above all we have selected a qualified and courteous staffwho with professionalism and discretion welcomes, accompanies and takes care of the guest not only making him feel at home but making him feel welcomed and cared for, the only protagonist of his experience in Costa Smeralda and in Sardinia.

Between Porto Cervo and Abbiadori
Abbiadori is a pretty village , one of the small but well-known hamlets of the municipality of Arzachena.

Born from an ancient stazzo, over time it has grown more and more as a reference thanks to the concentration of services present, including a bank and a pharmacy, hairdresser, beautician, an elegant destination to be discovered among the splendid beaches and the numerous varieties of cafes and restaurants.

Porto Cervo certainly needs no introduction, Porto Cervo is the center around which the Costa Smeralda tourism project has developed.

The dream was born in 1962, from the brilliant intuition of the Ishmaelite prince Kharim Aga Khan, who imagined and built the village of Porto Cervo together with the creation of a port, essential to allow the mooring of yachts and sailing ships, and with the construction of services of the highest level.

From an architectural point of view, the village of Porto Cervo, still praised for its urban design, was built following the model of the medieval village , with the square as a fulcrum, with apartments, boutiques and clubs all around and a church, not far away.

In 1967, with a view to expanding the tourist offer, Porto Cervo equipped itself with two sports facilities that still exist and are operational: the Pevero Golf Club and the Cervo Tennis Club.

In the Eighties, the tourist port was born which, with over 700 berths and modern supporting equipment, is a top-level structure in the entire Mediterranean basin. Porto Cervo continues to be, even today, a reference destination for the international tourist market which maintains its charm intact.

Beaches
Before taking you to the beaches of the Costa Smeralda , we would like to remind you that it is forbidden to take away sand, shells, castanets, starfish, turtles, etc. from all Sardinian beaches. They are part of the heritage of Sardinia and of all of us. Let us all respectfully admire and benefit from this earthly paradise.

Grande Pevero Beach
The Grande Pevero beach is certainly unmistakable thanks to its crescent shape, with fine white sand and sheltered by two cliffs covered by the fascinating color contrasts of the low bushes that perfume the air with the unmistakable Mediterranean essences and centuries-old junipers, the maquis Mediterranean is interrupted only to make room for the rocks overlooking the sea.

The sand of the Grande Pevero beach is thin, almost impalpable, has a white color and thanks to the very shallow seabed and the sea, with calm waters, the water appears transparent, perfectly suitable for families with children, and for all lovers of relaxing walks on the spacious shore just perfect for admiring the splendid crystalline waters , which range from green, blue and turquoise according to the sunlight.

Piccolo Pevero Beach
The Piccolo Pevero is a beach, as the name implies, of smaller dimensions, it is immersed in the green of the Mediterranean scrub, surrounded by fragrant bushes and centenary junipers that shelter it from the wind, it has in front of it the splendid Li Nibani islands, is the destination of many VIPs and paparazzi.

The sand of the Piccolo Pevero is white and fine , its waters have wonderful shades of color from green to blue, to become almost colorless near the shore.

Liscia Ruja Beach
The long white beach of Liscia Ruja is the largest on the Costa Smeralda and has earned it the nickname of “long beach”. It is a long expanse of fine amber sand, at times almost reddish framed by juniper bushes, rock roses, strawberry trees and myrtle that give off an intense scent throughout the year.

This particular color, also common to Cala Ruja beach , is due to the presence of granite particles and shells. Its waters are clear with colors ranging from emerald green to turquoise, with a shallow and sandy bottom and various stretches of free beach is also excellent for families.

Cala Petra Ruja
Passing Liscia Ruja, through a path on the left you arrive at Cala Petra Ruja, a fascinating beach with amber-reddish sand enriched by pebbles and rocks, its waters range from deep blue, to very light blue to emerald green.

It has an original arch shape with two promontories at its ends enriched by thick scrub. The seabed is shallow and therefore suitable for bathing by children. In 2013 she was awarded the 4 sails by the Goletta Verde of Legambiente.

Sports & Excursions
Golf, canoeing, horseback riding, cycling, hiking, scuba diving, sport and deep sea fishing, snorkeling, walking tours, cycling tours, windsurfing and many other water sports.

Highly recommended and not to be missed is an excursion by motor boat or sailing to the Marine Protected Area of the Archipelago of La Maddalena, or to independently discover enchanting corners of the coast from the sea.

The Costa Smeralda and Porto Cervo host a series of world-famous regattas including: the Loro Piana Superyacht , the Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup , the Rolex Swan Cup and the Perini Navi Cup.

For lovers of sport tourism and golf in particular, it is also worth mentioning the immediate proximity of one of the best golf courses in the world: the Pevero Golf Club, the course consists of 18 holes and has a par 72, extends for about 6100 mt. it is considered by experts to be extremely difficult and exclusive, it is considered one of the most beautiful courses in the world, thanks to the splendid glance it offers, especially from the holes that overlook the sea.

Culture & Tradition
Not just the sea!
During the day near the Relais Villa Carola it is possible to take a step back in time up to 2700 BC:

The Temple of Malchitto

The Temple of Malchittu is a sacred building located on a hill in the Arzachena plain near the Riu Bucchilalgu which dominates the surrounding valleys.
The excavations date back to 1964.

Malchittu develops for 14 meters in length and 6 meters in width, it is composed of an atrium open to the outside that leads to a larger chamber of 8 meters by 4. It was also the scene of ritual ceremonies, although it is not known which divinity were facing.

Li Muri necropolis

A precious example of Sardinian prehistoric culture , the necropolis of Li Muri, was discovered in 1939 , can be dated around the second half of the 4th century BC , and belongs to the Neolithic period.

Inside, artifacts of such originality have been found that they have led scholars to coin the definition of “culture of the circles of Arzachena” or “Culture of Gallura”.

From the analysis of the architecture of the Necropolis and from the observation of the funerary objects found, considerable affinities were found with other necropolises present in Corsica, the Balkans, the Pyrenean area and some Aegean islands, which included the complex of Li Muri among the most important examples of European megalithism.

Archaeological site of La Prisgiona

The archaeological site of La Prisgiona dates back to the Nuragic age , has a triangular shape and is located in the Capichera valley. Positioned on a granite relief , it consists of a nuraghe and a village of about 100 huts.

Extending over an area of five hectares, due to its extension it represents one of the most important sites in the entire area. The nuraghe is characterized by a keep, the central tower and two side towers which together form a bastion.

Characteristic of the courtyard is a well, 7 meters deep and still functioning, inside which various ceramic finds have been found.

The tomb of Coddu ‘ecchiu

The Coddu ‘ecchiu tomb is a collective burial of the Nuragic age immersed in the green of the Mediterranean scrub. Its peculiarity is given by the central monolith which, with its 4 meters, is the tallest granite stele found in Sardinia to date.

The tomb was built in two distinct periods: the burial chamber which would be pertinent to the Early Bronze Age (1800-1600 BC); the two-cell exedra, of a later period, presumably belonging to the Middle Bronze Age. Inside, several valuable artifacts have been found that can be admired by going to theSanna Museum of Sassari.

Shopping & Night Glamor
La Promenade is an open-air fashion shopping center , offering workshops of works of art and design , antiques and local crafts, concept stores , jewelery and designer clothing from the most glamorous fashion houses, all harmoniously set among the characteristic alleys and the various squares.

The Promenade is not to be missed even just for a simple walk, you can stop for a drink, a good artisan ice cream or for a longer break among gourmet restaurants but also in small taste shops.

Porto Cervo in the eveningoffers countless possibilities: a nice walk with an aperitif admiring splendid sailing or motor yachts at the Marina and Porto Vecchio, or shopping among the great international brands, and then choose for dinner one of the many restaurants from the most famous with starred Chefs, to ethnic, to the more informal or traditional ones.
