Wine Resort Conti di San Bonifacio

Conti di San Bonifacio is a small, privately owned Tuscan Vineyard and Wine Resort Hotel, nestled in the beautiful hills of the Maremma region in Italy.

The estate was purchased by owners Count & Countess, Manfredo & Sarah di San Bonifacio, in 2002. A restoration project began to renovate the old farmhouse that stood on top of the commanding hills, into the beautiful villa that stands today.

In 2003, Manfredo & Sarah set to work to plant 7 hectares of vines on the estate grounds in order to achieve their dream of producing Organic Super-Tuscan Wines.

Conti di San Bonifacio now produces three hand-crafted organic wines, from a mixture of varietals planted on the estate, including Sangiovese, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, with the first harvest in 2006.

The Restaurant at Conti di San Bonifacio Wine Resort offers Tuscan cooking at its finest. We source all of our ingredients locally, and support the practices of sustainable farming and agriculture.

The cuisine we offer within the resort combines a respect of the local ingredients and traditions with an innovative twist, with a continuous search for products at zero km. We grow our own herbs on the property, press our own olive oil from our olive groves, and make our own organic wine from our vineyard.

Our cooking reflects the spirit of tradition in which the raw material is enhanced by a permanent respect of natural flavours, the research of old recipes in which we inspire our new creations and the willingness of always improving ourselves.

VINEYARD SUITE
Each suite has been carefully designed to be unique: from pure romance to being immersed in nature. Find your perfect room to relax and recharge. Private and luminous 50 sqm sanctuary with oversized picture windows. Constructed with giant chestnut beams, huge pillow top king size beds and oversized bathrooms with separate bath and shower.

OLIVE GROVE SUITE 
Your Olive Grove Suite is a secluded 45 sqm sanctuary looking across our ancient olive groves with a far reaching backdrop of rolling Tuscan forests. Take in the views through your picture windows or from the garden terrace which has two sun loungers and a private dining table.

These rooms boast all wood clad bathrooms recently renovated using 200 year old reclaimed beams and black slate and ceramics. A rustic haven which mirrors our magnificent natural setting. Perfect for families there is space for an extra two beds and a connecting room upon request.

MAREMMANA RESTAURANT
The Maremmana Restaurant at Conti di San Bonifacio offers Tuscan cooking at its finest. We source all of our ingredients locally and support the practices of sustainable farming and agriculture.

ORGANIC GARDEN
The Conti di San Bonifacio organic vegetable garden is a celebration of our philosophy of clean food and wines in Tuscany. The Garden was planned and built to work hand in hand with our organic wines and organic olive oil on our estate in the Maremma.

Our chefs treat vegetables, plants, flowers and herbs as the treasured ingredients to create original and delicious meals. The organic garden has now become a source of inspiration for new dishes.

THE COMPLETE WINE WORKSHOP
The Conti di San Bonifacio garden-vineyard, cantina and wines are the beating heart of our organic philosophy here in Tuscany. This signature workshop is sommelier led and takes you from the vineyard to our cantina where you will taste from barrel.

You will learn, starting from the soil, about organic wine making and see up close how we treat nature with reverence and nurture Mother Earth naturally to create truly beautiful Super Tuscan wines. You will taste three of our wines including one en primeur, a not yet released vintage directly from the barrel.

YOGA HIKE AND ANCIENT OLIVE GROVE MEDITATION
Here at Conti di San Bonifacio we are falling in love with taking care of ourselves – mind, body and spirit. This hour of self nurture will start with a guided instruction in the ancient Indian practice of Yoga Walking from a certified Kundalini teacher. Synchronising breath, meditation and walking you will discover an enhanced connection with nature and yourself.

THE BOLGHERI TOUR
When Marchese Mario Incisa della Rochetta planted some Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc vine trimmings that he’d acquired from his friends at Château Lafite-Rothschild in Bordeaux during WWII it was the beginning of something truly momentous in Italian wine.

This was the humble beginnings of what became their leading wine — named “Sassicaia” or “rocky place” in Italian — becoming one of Italy’s most iconic wines, now known as the first Super Tuscan.

Going on to win a Decanter Magazine tasting of Bordeaux-style wines in 1978. At the time, Italian wines were seen as rustic and basic by much of the wine world. Not any more!

This tour takes you to the home of the Super Tuscan where you will visit two wineries and enjoy a heavenly vineyard lunch in the enchanting rolling hills of Bolgheri. Full day tour of two wineries located in Bolgheri, lunch and transfer. Wineries could include Ornellaia, Tenuta San Guido, Le Macchiole.
