The Santiago is a family run Boutique Hotel housed in a fully restored 15th century palace. The hotel is snuggled equidistant between St George’s Castle and the beautiful Look-point – Santa Luzia – with views which ripple down the hillside littered with white washed churches, terracotta roof tops and down to the Tagus river – where the blue of the water meets the blue of the sky, all framed in a riot of pink and purple bougainvillea.

Hotel Santiago de Alfama is located on Rua de Santiago in the wonderfully nostalgic district of Alfama, immediately below Saint Georges Castle and above the famous viewpoint, Miradouro de Santa Luzia.

FIVE SUITES
The Santiago Suite on the fourth floor, has the best view in house, looking out over Alfama across the Tejo river. Four spacious and bright Junior Suites with a seating area within the bedroom.
FOURTEEN BEDROOMS
Our Classic Bedrooms are cosy and bright, the Superior King Bedrooms offer a little more space, one with access to the courtyard garden and our Deluxe King Bedrooms are spacious with free-standing baths as well as separate rainshowers, one with access into the courtyard.
FAMILY OPTIONS
We have one set of inter-connecting bedrooms. One Deluxe King Bedroom, which is next door to Classic Alfama Bedroom which have been arranged as either a king or twin room.
We have other options that are rooms side by side to each other, a Superior King Bedroom next to a Classic Alfama Bedroom (Double or Twin Beds) and the other is a Deluxe King Bedroom (where the beds can be twinned), which is next to a Classic Alfama Bedroom.
SANTIAGO SUITE (PANORAMIC VIEW)
The Santiago Suite offers the best view in Lisbon of the Alfama district and the Tejo River. This suite boasts a large bathroom with rainshower, separate WC and double sinks and a freestanding bath in the bedroom with a view.
The bedroom has a comfortable seating area as well as an extra long king bed. Complimentary slippers, bathrobes, Espresso coffee machine and amenities are standard.
JUNIOR SUITE
Beautifully appointed Junior Suites boast beautiful vaulted stucco ceilings, hard wood floors, large bathrooms and with partial views over the river.
These junior suites boast large bathrooms have rainshowers, separate WC and double sinks. The bedroom has a comfortable seating area as well as an extra long king bed. Complimentary slippers, bathrobes and amenities are standard
DINING
There are three eatery options at the Santiago:
- Restaurant a Fábrica: Wonderfully atmospheric, with stucco ceiling, with one side opening to a massive Roman Arch leading to an internal patio, cuisine is the best of Portuguese cuisine with some international staples. Lunch-time 12h00 – 15h00 and 18h30 – 22h30
- Café Audrey: A true classic café with the option of lunch. Have breakfast/lunch/tapas or perhaps just a glass of wine in the afternoon – 07h30 – 19h00
- Manny’s Bar: Bar food, cocktails and a large selection of wines and spirits. 17h00 – 01h00.

Lisbon´s pretty beauty and unique light, our food and wine, the breath-taking coastline, the serene countryside and above all the simplicity abd gentleness of our Atlantic home. We take great pleasure in reavealing the special places that we ourselves fo to for our own weekends, for our own dinners, and our lunches.
Some are a bit off the beaten track and may best require the day, others are more simple and are possible to visit in one morning or afternoon with a return before or after lunch at the location. All adventures are made easy and more enjoyable with our resident driver Kevin.
LISBON & THE TAGUS RIVER
To see Lisbon from the river is a must. Lord Byron, upon arrival in the Tagus Estuary fell in Love with the views and likened to Istambul and the Bosphorous.
PRIVATE RIVER LAUNCH
Our Hotel owns and runs exclusively a beautiful cruiser called Idle-Vice. She was designed before the Second World War, although construction began only offer the war and is an award winning Chris Craft Sportsman Sedan from 1953 that prior to coming to Europe won several elegance contests in the USA.
RIVER TOUR DESCRIPTION
The Tour will leave from the Historical Belém Docks (where the 14th and 15th Century Atlantic fleets were held) and comprise of around two hours along the Lisbon waterfront from Belém right up to the famous Alfama Area. A bottle of Rosé wine and snacks are included in the tour.
