SnowHotel is carved from snow and ice each year, and each SnowHotel is designed to be different to earlier years. SnowHotel provides unique rooms and unforgettable nights surrounded by snow and ice.

Significantly increase your chances of seeing the Northern Lights with our Northern Lights watcher, who makes sure you don’t miss seeing the light phenomenon. They monitor the skies and alerts Glass Igloo and SnowHotel guests who opted for the service as soon as things start to happen in the Arctic skies.

Snowhotel
Sleep on a transparent bed made from snow and ice
Our SnowHotel sleeps 70 guests and is one of the largest in the Nordic region. This spectacularly handsome building is carved each year to be different in appearance. The walls and furniture surfaces of the unique rooms are decorated with ice art and illuminated artwork.

The room temperature is 0–5C°, but using the sleeping bags intended for extreme conditions combined with reindeer furs, you can be sure you will stay in warmth and comfort.

On the shores of the lake the moonlight, stars and Northern Lights illuminate the silent, Lappish nature. As our guest you will have a good night’s sleep as the Aurora Alarm searches the skies for you.

Arctic SnowHotel
The first SnowHotel was opened in December 2008 and after that new one has been built every year. Inside Arctic SnowHotel you can find approximately 30 hotel rooms, Ice chapel, Ice Restaurant and Ice Bar.

The temperature is between 0C and -5C degrees at all times (even when it is much colder outside!). The hotel area can be visited by paying an entrance ticket to the reception and overnight guests (both in glass igloos and SnowHotel) are permitted to visit all these areas inside Arctic SnowHotel.

Rooms
There are rooms of many different sizes available in SnowHotel of Arctic Snow Hotel & Glass Igloss. We have standard rooms in double, triple and family categories.

SnowHotel rooms have electric lighting. The beds have normal mattresses with reindeer hides on top of them but the bed frames are made of ice. Unfortunately it is not possible to arrange extra beds into the rooms. The sizes of the standard rooms vary between 9–15m².

In addition to standard rooms we also provide suite accommodation. The suites are primarily intended for two persons, but the hotel also has one suite for three persons. Every suite is uniquely different from the other.

The arctic atmosphere of the unique suites is perfected with magnificent artwork made from snow and ice that are unique for the room. The size of the suite is approximately 28m².

Be prepared for the cold
As the temperature inside is all the time between 0 and -5C degrees and the guests are sleeping in sleeping bags, only one night stay is recommended as you get the once-in-a-lifetime experience already after one night. Overnight is not recommended for children under 5 years old.

In SnowHotel you stay overnight in conditions close to freezing point. Therefore, we advise you to pack the following items with you:

• Warm hat
• Long-sleeved shirt
• Long trousers
• Wool socks

SnowHotel does not have separate toilets and showers in each room but there is a shared toilet close to the hotel rooms, inside SnowHotel.

Included in the accommodation price
Soon after your check-in, SnowHotel guide will give you a guided tour of the area during which you learn about safety aspects and where everything is located.

You will also receive instructions for sleeping overnight at SnowHotel and for the sleeping bag. The sleeping bags are of high quality and warm arctic sleeping bags with fleece linings.

If staying overnight in SnowHotel at some stage feels a little too extreme, SnowHotel also has a warm area where you can continue your night’s sleep.

When staying in at SnowHotel, breakfast is always included in the accommodation rate and is served at Log restaurant 8:00-10:00. If you leave before the breakfast starts, you can request for breakfast package which you can pick up from the reception before you leave.

It is possible to borrow snowshoes, toboggans and kick sledges free of charge.

Finnish sauna is included in the accommodation price in common use for women at 21:00-22:00 and for men at 22:00-23:00. If you wish to book sauna in private use and try maybe also snow sauna and/or outdoor jacuzzi, that will be for an additional price.

SnowHotel guide will wake you up with hot drink served in your room and after breakfast and checking out, you will receive a certificate of achievement celebrating your overnight stay in arctic conditions inside walls made of snow and ice.

Glass Igloos

The first 15 glass igloos were built next to Arctic SnowHotel in the village of Sinettä in Rovaniemi in 2014. After that the number of the igloos has increased during several building processes and at the moment the total capacity is 39 glass igloos with 127 beds.

The glass-roofed igloos provide you the opportunity to sleep beneath the starry skies and the Northern Lights. Even though we live this far north, we can never guarantee the appearance of the Northern Lights. However, sleeping under a 360º glass roof multiplies your chances of seeing the renowned Aurora Borealis.

Each igloo is extremely well heat insulated to ensure guests are not bothered by the cold in even the coldest of times at night – the temperature is the same as in normal hotel rooms.

The roof of the igloo is made from electrically heated glass, which means the glass will not cool the space; rather it maintains evenly distributed warmth while melting all the snow and ice off the roof to give you excellent view to the sky.

In addition, the igloo has underfloor heating.The beds in the igloo are motorized, which makes it possible for you to easily adjust the optimal position for sleeping or viewing the skies.

Restaurants & Bars
Food from the fire, dishes made from ice
Although SnowHotel is remotely located outside of town, you won’t have to compromise any treats or delicacies. We cater for large festive events and intimate dinner parties alike with the utmost professionalism.

Flavour and traditional food preparation methods are characteristic of the three restaurants and the three-course dinner menu. The exquisite style of the Ice Restaurant tableware set on an ice table and frozen glasses used in the Ice Bar are simply stunning. All the meat products that are served at our restaurants are produced in Finland.

Ice Restaurant
In the renowned Ice Restaurant of SnowHotel offers you tasty dinners whether you are just visiting the restaurant or a guest staying at the hotel. Ice Restaurant can also be hired for parties.

You can also purchase a hotel visit that includes transfers from your hotel and back, a guided tour of SnowHotel and dinner at Ice Restaurant. Our overnight guests can also enjoy their dinner in Ice Restaurant, bookings can be made in advance by email or at the reception upon arrival.

Ice Bar
At the Ice Bar you don’t order a drink with ice, you order a drink in ice. A frozen icy glass gives the drinks a totally new dimension and the experience is beyond compare.

The ice walls of the bar also have odd, yet magnificent audio qualities. We will definitely get your feet tapping, and you are sure to keep on smiling in the Ice Bar. The Ice Bar is open during SnowHotel opening hours and drinks are served on specific hours.

Kota Restaurant
Kota Restaurant is located on the hotel’s lake shore, next to the lakeside sauna and takes up to 100 diners. The blazing fire creates a magical ambiance in the small kota shelter. The speciality dish of Restaurant Kota is the mouth-watering glowfried salmon fillet.

Salmon doesn’t get tastier than this! You can also choose between meat or vegetarian dishes when enjoying dinner at Kota Restaurant. You can also purchase a hotel visit that includes transfers from your hotel and back, a guided tour of SnowHotel and dinner in Kota.

Log Restaurant Lumikartano
The reception area also has cafeteria, an atmosphere-rich lounge area with open fireplace and a small gift shop. The building made from massive logs is a magnificent sight in itself.

BREAKFAST
Hotel guests enjoy breakfast at Log restaurant. The hearty buffet breakfast offers a wide variety of flavours and different breakfast options. Breakfast is always included in the accommodation rate whether you are staying in SnowHotel or the glass igloos.

Sky Bar
Our newest addition to our restaurants is Sky bar which is located in the same building with Kota restaurant and was completed in 2018. On the ground floor you can find a lounge-type of bar that serves cocktails with a local twist along with other drinks and small snacks.

Sky bar opens up in the afternoon and closes later in the evening: groups can request for other times or can book this in private use. When it is dark and the sky is clear, we recommend to head to the second floor where you can hopefully see the northern lights through the glass roof!

The Snow Sauna will not leave you cold
Even the most enthusiastic sauna bathers are deeply impressed by the snow sauna! The sauna bathing experience is an astonishing combination of thick steam with intimate snow walls. The hotel grounds also have a more traditional log-built sauna buildings with lovely Jacuzzis.

All sauna bookings include a chance to try cold water dipping during sauna to maximize the blood flow and sauna’s health benefits. Bathing combined with a suitable beverage and the northern lights will keep you warm!

Finnish sauna
Finnish sauna building “Snowflake” is found on the hotel area and has several smaller saunas inside which cater individual customers staying in the hotel or igloos as well as visitors.

Bigger sauna “Snowfall” caters for groups and common sauna for overnight guests. The common sauna shifts for men and women are every evening at 21:00-23:00 and this is included in the accommodation price.

There are separate showers and dressing rooms for men and women. The hotel reserves the right to change the time for the public sauna shift if conditions require such.

For an additional fee you can reserve sauna bathing experience for your family for private use daily 10:00-23:30. Our guide is always available to help you to show you the way and makes sure that everything goes correctly.

During the winter months, combining the Finnish sauna with the snow sauna will make your experience much more varied and extremely refreshing as well as outdoor Jacuzzi with massaging jets is an experience beyond compare – we highly recommend this combination for all the guests.

The changing rooms and showers are located in Finnish sauna so if you wish to try snow sauna and/or outdoor jacuzzi, Finnish sauna is always booked for you as well.

Snow Sauna
The snow sauna is made from snow and ice. Only the sauna benches are made from wood. The thick steam of the stove keeps the temperature high, even though the snowy walls radiate cold.

You start your sauna experience by having shower and warming up in Finnish sauna for awhile after which our guide will show you how snow sauna works and gives instructions for it. After that you can go to either outdoor jacuzzi or back to Finnish sauna. Snow sauna is available from Dec 15th until Mar 31st.

Outdoor Jacuzzi
Enjoy the cool fresh air whole relaxing in the Jacuzzi! In the outdoor Jacuzzi you can admire the Northern Lights or the spectacular starry night skies of Lapland. Warm water and cool air is a magical combination!

Autumn: high season of Northern Lights in Lapland
Aurora Breaks in Arctic Snow Hotel & Glass Igloos
Autumn is the best time for effortless Aurora break in Lapland. From September to November, the Northern Lights occur more often than during snowy and cold Midwinter. The weather during the day is usually pleasantly mild, and nights are often clear with starry skies – ideal for aurora hunting.

We have two different Early Bird Aurora Break packages (1-night or 2 nights) available from September 22nd to November 19th. Both include transfers from Rovaniemi, 3 course dinner, and experiences for each day of your stay.

In our igloos with 360° glass roof you can fall asleep while watching the lights in the sky, after enjoying dinner in our restaurant and raising a toast at SkyBar. Of course you can also book just accommodation in our glass igloos.

Arctic Snow Hotel and Glass Igloos is located by a lake in the small village of Sinettä, 30 min drive from Rovaniemi in Lapland (Finland). In the absence of city lights you have a good chance to spot Northern Lights and take amazing pictures.

We can’t give a guarantee that you will see the Northern Lights during your stay, but when the conditions are right, chances are good.

VISIT TO SANTA CLAUS VILLAGE
Our guide will drive you to Santa Claus Village, the most popular attraction in Rovaniemi, where you can cross the magical Arctic Circle, meet Santa Claus and visit his official post office and do some souvenir shopping. The excursion includes lunch .

AURORA FLOATING
Dip yourself into frozen lake under the Auroras and let your mind rest, sounds bizarre doesn’t it! Tonight this is possible! This guided floating is totally safe with a high quality rescue suit that covers your whole body and keeps you dry.

As you have your own clothing under the suit you will not get cold even in the open 0 degree water. The circumstances are truly arctic! If the weather is clear we can see beautiful stars and may even get to marvel magnificent Northern Lights. This is arranged at our hotel area so no transfers are needed.

Guided tour at Arctic SnowHotel
Arctic SnowHotel is a venue that offers once-in-a-lifetime experience and the opportunity to explore ice and snow structures, spectacular ice sculptures, beautiful rooms of the hotel and arctic specialities, such as the snow sauna.

During your memorable visit, the guide will tell you about the construction, operation and special features of the SnowHotel. The visit includes a guided tour of SnowHotel, hot berry juice and biscuits.

At the end of the tour, there is a possibility to order a shot from the ice bar for an additional fee, served in a glass made from ice.

Party organisers
The hotel area spaces are easily adapted for hosting a variety of different events. The lakeside views of Lake Lehtojärvi offer breathtaking scenery in the winter time, making it an excellent backdrop for graduations, birthdays and other festive events.

We arrange the perfect space for your event, saunas and Jacuzzis, meals and programmes chosen by you. A fine quality dinner menu will all the courses is served with space, kitchen and party tableware catering for groups of up to 200 people.

In the winter you can supplement your festivities with once-in-a-lifetime experiences organised by the hotel – ensuring your guests will get a real Arctic experience to remember forever.

We provide space always based on the size of the group – we highly recommend Kota Restaurant situated on the banks of Lehtojärvi Lake as the most atmosphere-rich space for groups of up to 100 guests.

Winter weddings
Covered in a thick snowy blanket in the winter, the entire surroundings are outstanding as a venue for festivities such as weddings. We can definitely promise you a unique and out-of-the-ordinary wedding venue for the most important day of your lives.

Ice Chapel, Ice Restaurant and Kota restaurant provide a superb atmosphere to ensure the happy couple and their guest get the best possible memories to take home with them.

The Ice Chapel has a long aisle with seats for around 40 guests (there is more space for the guests to stand at the back of the chapel) to witness the happy moment.

The temperature at Ice Chapel is around -2 or -5ºC, so please remember to dress warmly for the ceremony! Our Ice Chapel offers the possibility for civil ceremonies. It is also possible to hire the Ice Chapel separately for the ceremony alone. Ceremonies can be arranged for renewing the vows as well.

After the ceremony, the wedding reception can be held at Log restaurant, Ice Restaurant or the intimate Kota Restaurant. One recommendation we have is toasting the newlyweds using ice glasses or by savouring a piping hot beverage served at the Ice Bar before the actual dinner.

Following the first congratulatory toast, the festivities continue with the newlywed couple in a space perfectly sized for the size of the group. If you would like to finish off the festivities with bathing in the saunas, snow saunas and outdoor javuzzi in your wedding festivities, we will make it happen.

We can help you with arranging paperwork, flowers, photographer and food that you wish to be served. We do everything to make sure your day will be successful in creating everlasting memories. Any wishes you have you can tell us, we will make it happen if it’s possible.

Arctic SnowHotel offers a wide range of different accommodation, activity and dinner opportunities for small and large groups alike.

You can take a day trip to experience the snow activities the hotel organises, or alternatively stay overnight and enjoy the saunas and outdoor jacuzzis late into the evening. You can explore the many Arctic SnowHotel sauna opportunities available here.

We also serve dinners to groups in the restaurants of the hotel area. For smaller groups we recommend the ambiance-rich Kota Restaurant that takes up to 100 diners. The grand dining hall of Log restaurant offers a number of dinner courses and the hall can take up to 200 dinner guests.
