Our igloos are located in Finnish Lapland, in just 8 km from famous Ruka Ski Resort. Magical Pond is a place to hear the silence, to enjoy pure nature and arctic night.
Our modern igloos are made in Scandinavian style, their unusual shape allows our guests to observe nature as close and comfortably as possible. It is a perfect location to observe a blanket of stars with dancing Aurora Borealis on a clear-sky day.
Cozy and modern igloos will show you a beauty of our nature all year round: arctic nightless nights, “ruska” in autumn, trees all covered under the snow, as well as birds and animals, coming to greet you from our forests.
IGLOOS
Our village is a place for a magical moments you can share with people you love. There are 20 igloos in Magical Pond.
- Each room is 15m2. Big bed in our igloos allows to accommodate two adults and 1 child under 12 yo. In case you have big family it is possible to fit 2 adults and 2 children in one igloo.
- We can deliver a portable crib and a pot to your room, if you are traveling with an infant.
- Our igloos feature small kitchen equipped with kitchenware, capsule coffee machine, kettle and minibar. Microwave can be delivered on demand.
- There is a private bathroom with toilet, shower, hairdryer, shampoo and shower gel in each igloo.
- Magical Pond’s igloos also have a small wardrobe, curtains and reading lights by the bed.
- Each igloo faces forest and back side of other igloos, which allows you to have privacy during your stay.

Something special for you
In addition to accommodation we want our guests to experience the whole spectrum of a Finnish Lapland. Find mindfulness through active program in the wild nature with arctic animals such as huskies and reindeers.
Local food is also part of experience you have change to try, our special recommendation is dinner in a Lappish hut. By the end of the day you can have a quiet moment with a nature in a warm and cozy igloo. On a clear-sky days you will be able to observe stars or sometimes even Northern Lights.
Uniqueness of nature igloos
Inspired by Lappish nature, our igloos came off cozy and modern, made in Scandinavian style. Unusual shape lets you to feel nature as close as possible. Kanttia 2 architecture bureau has planned our igloos to blend with the forest. Each square meter is elaborately planned, so you can comfortably observe nature’s beauty.
We use local and organic products in our igloos, such as handmade dishes from Posio Pentik and Iittala, linen beddings, wooden sink and many other products. Magical Pond takes care of environment and cultural heritage of Finland and Lapland, read more about our sustainable policy here.
OUR STORY
Magical Pond is a quality and atmospheric igloo village, that has been built on a land where Johanna, an owner, has spent her childhood. Her family has owned it since 1885. The idea of building igloo village was born on one magical night, in a forest, when the sky suddenly was lightened by Northern Lights.
To see Aurora Borealis is something empowering; something, that brings mindfulness. On that night we thought, that these moments are something each should experience at least ones in a lifetime.
Among daily rush and stress, we highly appreciate well-being and these moments with nature are something we value most. We want to create a place, where our guests can experience silence, admire pure nature and spend magical night in a cozy igloo.
We visit Northern Finland many times a year to experience inner peace for one more time. We hope, that you will experience this with us during your visit!
Next to igloo village there is Johanna’s sister’s established café Lammintupa Winter Village. They are offering wealthy experience for visitors to help them to get to know Lapland’s exotic animals and taste wild food, that is made of local raw materials.

Our company has chosen to dedicate to a level of social, cultural, environmental and economical responsibility. Sustainability is a big part of our everyday life. We want to build a company that takes in attention following aspects: ecologogy, ethics, local culture, quality and safety.
Nature is what we appreciate the most. Through local forests and its inhabitants we want to show our guest why it is important to take care of our nature. Through our services and design elements in the rooms we want our guests to be acquainted with local suppliers and products.
We develop our business and services using sustainable principles. We want to make our accommodation to be in constant development whereas environment is in one of the main roles.

Here is what we do to make our planet, our destination and our product better:
- 100% of electricity we use is generated by hydropower, a renewable source of energy
- We have ground source heat pump in our igloos, it also makes our rooms quieter comparing to other heating systems
- We use natural and local products for decorations, for example: wooden sink made by Finnish company Woodio, bedding is made of natural material – linen, in addition to it we also have dishes made by local company in Posio Pentik
- Our goal is to minimalize amount of waste, especially plastic, that is why we use only refillable toiletries
- Washing liquids we use for cleaning is also certified as environment friendly
- We employ locals
- We cooperate with companies that also have sustainable policies, for example Lammintupa is supplying our customers with local wild food
