BADEN-BADEN
Go on a special adventure in the heart of Baden-Baden. A short stroll will bring you to all treasures and highlights of this beautiful town.

Festspielhaus Baden-Baden
One of the finest addresses for music and dance. With a capacity of 2,500 seats, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden is one of the largest classical music venues in Europe.

The building features a unique architecture as the opera hall sits on the trackbed of a former railway station, whose neo-classicist structure serves as the entrance hall of the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden.

The reconstructed opera house was designed by the Viennese architect Wilhelm Holzbauer in the mid-1990’s in accordance with ideal acoustic values calculated by the acclaimed Munich-based physicist Karlheinz Müller.

Life
The OED defines it a s “quality of being graceful and stylish in appearance or manner”, while the Romans celebrated the “clarity” of elegance.

Baden-Baden owes its elegance to bold lines, to the play of light and to a certain French flair that does not take itself too seriously. Or, as Bill Clinton succinctly put it: “Baden-Baden is so nice that you have to name it twice.”

Woods and Water
Shades of Green: With this view in the morning, the whole day feels like a dream. In Baden-Baden the Black Forest meets the exotic plant fashions of the 19th century.

Redwoods grow here within a German mountain flora. And somehow the trees stand for the many people of different cultures who come to find ease and comfort in Baden-Baden.

Relaxation
A visit to the Friedrichsbad or a walk along the Panorama hiking trail allow visitors to Baden-Baden to leave their busy daily lives behind.

Even Mark Twain suspected that he was on to something very special when he took the waters at the Roman-Irish Bath, and he was right! The healing powers of the thermal springs are timeless, offering ever new opportunities for a city with a proud history that keeps reinventing itself.

Fine Food
However you prefer to travel, Baden-Baden is easy to get to. Situated directly on the A5 motorway that runs from Central to Southern Germany, the pretty city offers a number of other unbeatable advantages: an international airport (almost) of its own, the mighty river Rhine on its doorstep and some of the most scenic routes into the Black Forest, which must be travelled at low speed in order to savour the experience.

However, taking things slowly is part of the pleasure of visiting this beautiful part of the world.

CASINO
Of all Casinos in Germany, the Baden-Baden casino is the one best-known and richest in tradition. For nearly 200 years it has represented an unequalled claim to luxury and the world of experience of a casino.

With its French roots and the premises in the classical Kurhaus in Baden-Baden, which was equipped in the 19th century with ornately decorated rooms modeled after royal French palaces, it represents a tradition unique in Germany. It is only here that the iconic international casino flair can be found.

SHOPPING
You’re sitting at the roulette table. Just like Dostoyevsky’s gambler, Marlene Dietrich and so many others before you. Your chips are dwindling. You take a deep breath: put everything on the 17. And you win: heaps and heaps of money.

Fabulous! You go straight into town, buy Fabergé eggs, silk scarves and a pair of unique handmade shoes. You pause to refresh yourself with a pear and champagne sorbet, and then the hunt continues: here a Picasso, there a rare fragrance.

Why not a classic car, a pretty little English roadster? Or gifts! Gifts, gifts, gifts for all your friends! You’re astounded: your wallet remains as full as ever.

The Friedrichsbad
Here in the Friedrichsbad, Roman bathing culture displays its full splendour in combination with Irish hot-air baths. This exclusive bathing treat can be experienced and enjoyed by completing a special circuit of 17 different stations.

The changing temperatures and the precious thermal water in the various baths have a regenerative effect on body and soul.

The positive energy that you will take home with you after visiting to the Friedrichsbad together with the soothing effects of its thermal water will become an unforgettable memory, as it has for so many since its opening in 1877.
