Hotel Miramalfi Amalfi

At the end of the 1800s Francesco Mansi left Amalfi to find work in Mexico where he made his fortune. He had always dreamed of creating something in his hometown, had always intended to return, he missed his native land so much.

He returned to Amalfi with his family around 1930. In 1956 after 6 years of constructing a hotel on an empty cliff, he stood on the terrace and said to his wife “From here you can admire Amalfi”. He had achieved his dream.

The language he had spoken in Mexico had been Spanish, and he decided to name the hotel ‘Miramalfi’, which translates into ‘Look at Amalfi’. Our bar is named after his son Mario who ran the hotel after his father, and now Francesco, the grandson manages the hotel – it’s as if the name has come full circle.

Our main restaurant, Donna Emma La Cucina is named after Mario’s wife. She was a lady of iron and ran the hotel until 2017. She left this world in 2018 at the age of almost 96 leaving a sense of emptiness.

Miramalfi is still run by the original family, and therefore, it is of utmost importance to them, that it be run with the same passion and love that their grandfather Francesco had had all those years ago.

You can see why Francesco Mansi decided to build the hotel here, it is constructed in a way to make one feel as if suspended above the sea.

The view of Amalfi always amazes our guests. It is perfectly situated so that you can watch the reflection of the sun as it sets, changing the colours of the crystal blue sea every night.

SUITE
This exclusive suite (38m²) has a large bedroom and a large living area. The bathroom has a Jacuzzi. It also has a large terrace overlooking Amalfi, with sun loungers, table and comfortable armchairs.

Our Suite is equipped with air conditioning, free WIFI, a safe deposit box, a hairdryer, satellite TV, a fridge, tea and coffee making facilities.

DELUXE
Our Deluxe rooms (22m²) offer a privileged position. They have terraces with sun loungers, tables and comfortable chairs. These rooms are ideal for guests to spend time appreciating the views and taking in the sea air, in the privacy of their own room.

DONNA EMMA LA CUCINA
Dine with the spectacular view of Amalfi before you. Gaze through our large windows, and feel almost suspended over the sea. We cater for all dietary needs at all times.

Our chef and his team offer a combination of traditional and contemporary dishes from our region, Campania. A promise of an exceptional gastronomic experience.

Dress Code: for dinner you are kindly requested to dress smartly, even for informal occasions: a long-sleeved shirt is welcome. Long trousers are required for gentlemen.

SAUTÉ RESTAURANT
Sauté, our fish restaurant is the latest addition to Hotel Miramalfi. It offers the ideal location for a casual lunch with the most beautiful view of Amalfi and the Mediterranean.

Under the shadow of a wisteria pergola, the tables tiled with Maiolica from Vietri, you can enjoy our traditional fresh cuisine.

Its name comes from a traditional Neapolitan dish – Saute’ di cozze e vongole – (clams and mussels). It is easily accessible, from the Beach Club and the pool, by lift or stairs.

MARIO’S LOUNGE BAR
Take a seat at Mario’s Lounge Bar! Finish your perfect day listening to pleasant music, with an aperitif, glass of wine or cocktail. Watch the sunset merge into the night sky, and the lights of Amalfi illuminate the bay and the mountains beyond.

BEACH & POOL
Take the lift and walk through our unique passageway, carved into the rock and decorated with beautiful ceramic art, which takes you to our solarium.

If you prefer, walk down the steps down to the Solarium, and on the way take in the wonderful scents of the typical Mediterranean flora such as bourganvillea, jasmine, lavender and prickly pears.

Here you will find comfortable sun loungers and umbrellas. With easy access to the sea, you can swim in the crystal waters of the Mediterranean, or simply lie back, read and sunbathe with a nice cool drink. Our staff are always around to assist you with whatever you may need.

You could relax by the pool. It’s the perfect place to have a light snack, or drink a cocktail, watching the glorious sunset. Our staff are always around to take care of you, wherever you are.

FITNESS & WELLNESS
Another new addition to the hotel, is our unique indoor workout space, where we have created a place you can exercise, with the sea as your backdrop, so you will never get bored of the view.

We have the latest Technogym generation machines (Radiant, Multipower, My run, Air Dyne, Spinning Group Cycle, Adjustable bench) our qualified coach is there for any advice or help you may need.

We also offer complimentary pilates and yoga classes, given by a qualified teacher, a perfect way to start your day. For complete relaxation, we have created a special room dedicated to our spa treatments.

Here you can book a massage of your choice. Treatments include sports, deep tissue and other traditional methods.

CONCIERGE SERVICES
We are in the heart of the Amalfi Coast. We offer a complimentary shuttle service to and from Amalfi at regular intervals from 7.30 am to 11.00 pm. On request we can organize Airport transfers, from Naples or Rome.

We can also organize pickups from the Train Station in Salerno if required. These services will be an additional cost. One unique advantage of our hotel is that we have parking on the premises.

BOAT RENTAL
You can travel by sea, hire a boat and admire the towns and villages perched on the cliffs, swim in the waters close to Galli Island and visit pristine coves and small beaches along the way.

LAND EXCURSIONS
Our concierge can advise and help you organise your excursions. By car you can easily visit Ravello and Positano.

It is possible to discover the wonderful ruins of Pompei, climb the slopes of Vesuvius, admire the amazing Greek temples of Paestum (which has one of the three best preserved Greek temples in the world), wander around Herculaneum, or visit Sorrento, with its small narrow streets lined with restaurants and shops.

PATH OF THE GODS
The world famous hiking route, crossing the hills and mountains of the Amalfi coast. Beautiful views will accompany you along the way. We can arrange everything for you, guides, picnics and transportation.

VALLE DELLE FERRIERE
A route which leads you, from the main street of Amalfi, up to the valley. The ancient path leads you through lemon groves, the ancient ruins of the paper mills and ironworks, to waterfalls and the beautiful Valle de Ferriere Nature Reserve.

From here you can continue to small villages above Amalfi and Atrani, and venture on to Scala and Ravello.

LEMON TOUR
Visit the lemon groves with a guide. Learn all about the ancient farming methods. Take a tour and discover the traditions and secrets of the ‘Sfusato Amalfitano’.

AMALFI – A UNIQUE PLACE IN THE WORLD
From Miramalfi, it is only a 6 minute walk to the town centre, where you can visit the shops, the famous Duomo, café bars, restaurants, the Paper Museum and other attractions.

From Miramalfi you can also discover the whole of the Amalfi Coast, whether it be by car, boat, ferry, public bus or on foot. All options are possible. All these services depart from Amalfi, so sightseeing is very easy. Our concierge will gladly assist you with arrangements.

The Amalfi Coast was listed as UNESCO World heritage site in 1997,because it is an ‘outstanding example of a Mediterranean landscape, with exceptional cultural and natural scenic values resulting from its dramatic topography and historical evolution’.

Amalfi attracts visitors from all over the world. They come for the history, the nature, the beaches, and the beautiful Cathedral which towers over the main square. St Andrews is the most important and famous church in the town, with its long staircase and cloisters

Amalfi was one of the first Maritime Republics, along with Venice, Pisa and Genoa, something the town is very proud of even today.

One of the highlights is walking through the old narrow streets behind the main street, built by the Arabs during their occupation. Ancient steps take you to a viewpoint where you can get stunning views of the town and beyond

RAVELLO
Ravello is situated at 350 metres above sea level. From here you can visit the elegant and beautiful gardens of Villa Cimbrone and Villa Rufolo, see the stunning Terrace of Infinity, a magical timeless space, and wander in the footsteps of Greta Garbo.

The Ravello Festival is held here every year, and hundreds of people flock to the concerts, it is now known as the ‘City of Music’. Ravello has amazing views and you can easily spend time wandering around the streets, popping into the ceramic shops along the way.

POSITANO
When Franco Zeffirelli, the film director, arrived in Positano, he immediately fell in love with it. He considered the town to be his second home.

Positano is a small town perched on the cliffs, its labyrinth of small streets are filled with ‘Positano style’ clothing and gifts, coffee shops and restaurants. It is one of the most famous and picturesque towns on the Amalfi Coast, and is a must to visit.

CAPRI
A ferry ride away lies the Island of Capri. It is famous for its shopping, 5 star hotels and restaurants, where celebrities can often be spotted, but, there is so much more to this island. Take a short bus ride to Anacapri and visit Villa San Michele, trek or take the chairlift to the highest peak and enjoy the panoramic views.

Take a path and get off the beaten track and walk to the natural arch. Visit the blue grotto where Emperor Tiberius once swam when he stayed in his island retreat. There is so much to do.
