Alto Atacama is located on the way to the Altiplano highlands, in the driest desert in the world. It is an oasis under the stars, at the foot of the Pucará fortress, surrounded by chañar and carob trees.

The Atacama Desert is the driest in the world. Due to the rainfall in the mountains, water threads its way down to form oases. The founders of Alto Atacama built their dream in an oasis offering a place where you can connect to the planet and to yourself.

Alto Atacama is a village with irrigation ditches, continous facades and shaded corridors that help protect the places where people come together to talk or find silence. Under the cool shade of century old carob trees, you can see the Andes Mountain Range.

Alto Atacama sits in a desert valley at 2,500 meters above sea level. It has the microclimate of an oasis and is 75 minutes from the city of Calama. It is surrounded by the Salt Mountain Range, only 3 km from the town of San Pedro and without any light pollution so you enjoy the clearest view of the night sky.

EXPERIENCE

AYLLU ROOMS
In the Andean world, Ayllu means community. Every room, whether it is Quitor, Catarpe or Tilo Suite, has large, deep terraces that sift the sun’s rays allowing cooler temperatures and dim light to help rest your eyes.

PURI SPA
In different settings and ways, water can calm and slow your pace thus cleansing and renewing your energies. Our team at Puri Spa (which means water in the Kunza language) promotes a healthy lifestyle through our various treatments as well as through the freshly made juices and organic products we prepare.

TREATMENTS
Our treatments are grouped according to the four ancestral elements: fire, water, earth and air. We use sounds, aromas and local artisanal, organic products to create an environment where guests can relax and disconnect.

POOLS & PURI BAR
Our outdoor pools provide privacy. Inspired by the ancestral constructions of Socaire village, they are built out of liparite volcanic stones and surrounded by garden planters and desert rocks.

PURI SPA TRILOGY
The Puri Spa Trilogy is a 90 minute experience that includes a relaxation treatment for your back, head and feet which can be taken as an alternative to a half day excursion.

CKELAR RESTAURANT
Our team at Ckelar (ember in the Kunza language) brings us together around a table. They hand pick local ingredients and fuse cooking styles to appeal to all your senses.

We take the base of Atacamenian food – including corn, wheat and meat – and combine it with root vegetables, edible grasses and grains to offer a fresh, light and nutritious lunch or a slow and replenishing dinner. We also cater to celiacs, vegetarians and vegans.

WINE TASTING
On different days each week, we also offer either a special salad and dessert buffet, an outdoor Atacamenian quincho barbecue or a wine tasting experience showcasing Chile’s best wines.

CKELAR BAR
