For over 700 years it has been dedicated to the pursuit of pleasure and power and has been called home to the various Counts and Dukes of the Van Cleef dynasty.
Today, The Van Cleef is transformed to a small, luxury boutique hotel where style comes with substance, where classical is mixed with contemporary and where cutting edge facilities are combined with good old-fashioned service standards.
The hotel is run as a private residence and is exclusively open to hotel-guests or to non-guests for breakfast and afternoon tea, however only upon prior reservation. Our aim is to create a haven of peace in the middle of the busy touristic city, so one can relax, read, sleep, eat and … feel at home.
Interiors
Over the last 2 decades, Pascale Vanhaecke-Marcantuoni, owner of the Van Cleef, has made a name in the decorating industry for interiors which are both elegant and dynamic, infused with passion, creativity & atmosphere. The Van Cleef is her latest project for which she was assisted by her son, Arnaud.
From the moment you enter the Great Hall, with its many antiques and opulent curtains, you are transported into a world of astonishing elegance. Throughout the lounges, bar and breakfast-room we have stylishly combined modern, vintage and antique furnishings. The result is a refreshing fusion of trendy and chic.
Missoni Suite Canal
The Van Cleef’s most splendid rooms are a popular choice with guests seeking a luxury hotel in Bruges. The extremely spacious bedrooms have six-foot king-size beds and comfortable seating areas with armchairs and sofas.
These suites have wonderful views over the canal as wells a the Medieval rooftops and church-towers of Bruges.
The Duplex Suites on the Canal (45-65m2)have been individually decorated with renowned Hermès, revealing the wonderful medieval beams as where the Missoni Suite (50m2) is one large room with a bookcase/headboard separate sitting and sleeping area and offering a wonderful view on the canal through the French windows.

Classic double rooms
Classic double rooms (ca 25-28m2), are furnished in a classically, modern style with colourful Missoni home fabrics and finished with bespoke fittings providing the highest standards of luxury and comfort.
These rooms have a small terrace overlooking the courtyard. The Van Cleef’s famed attention to detail reaches every aspect, making all bedrooms as sumptuous as one would imagine from a four star hotel. The classic design is excellently paired with up-to-date technology to ensure a tranquil, stress-free stay.
Breakfast
Breakfast is served in the Green Room, with its impressive collection of modern and contemporary art. The Van Cleef Breakfast is waiter-served with a variety of freshly squeezed juices, coffee and tea blends, Danish pastries and rolls, homemade preserves and a cheese and cold cut platter.
In addition there is an à la carte menu with granola, Bircher muesli, freshly baked Belgian waffles and a wide range of eggs. Our Chef’s specialty is Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon.
If the weather permits, breakfast is also served on the hotel’s stunning terrace, right on the canal, where the boats sail up and down while you’re waking up!
Bar
The cosy and slightly more masculine St Petersburg Bar is open daily from 07.00 until 23.00hrs. To accompany your glass of wine, Champagne or cocktail, one can order a selection of appetisers prepared by our Chef.
The main highlight is the bar’s location, right on the canal, with its stunning terrace, which may be considered to be one of the most beautiful in Bruges. The bar and terrace are only accessible to residents.
Afternoon Tea
The finger sandwiches, pastries and scones are home made by our pastry chef.
Afternoon Tea is served in the Green Room, with its impressive collection of modern and contemporary art or (if the weather permits) on the hotel’s stunning terrace, right on the canal. It is recommended to reserve Afternoon Tea prior to or upon your arrival.
